So Hollywood truly is what I thought it was: A place where dreams and creativity go to die
Is it all that secret though? Remember when 50 Cent kinda sorta endorsed Trump and Chelsea Handler bragged to the world about "I had to remind him he was black"?
Right? Breaking News: Water is secretly wet.
Considering how hollywood and the entertainment industry are systemically tied to American culture it sort of lends credence to the idea that America is a systemically racist country despite arguments to the contrary.
@@indepthmike5578 Depends on what you mean by "systematically". But the government is oppressive to all. Power corrupts. And when you feel untouchable (as both our government and celebrities alike get to feeling), you don't have much incentive to rid yourself of racism or even hide it, so it grows. That's my theory anyway.
Or when Will Smith and his wife complained that there were too many whites at the Oscars
Thats not a well kept secret
That's what I said.
Exactly
"Hip Hop it up", Hollywood is really all about stereotypical diversity and inclusion.
During a voice-over recording, Gabriel Iglesias was told by the voice director to *spice it up*. "Oh God, she wants a Mexican Gardner..."
I like this guy, he seems like a good dude.
What an awful environment. It really makes me sick to my stomach. Fear is such an ugly partner.
if someone had asked me what 3 things i know about hollywood, it would be that it is full of sexism, that it's full of racism, and that sometimes they make movies and shows.
what about the child rape?
@@gdog2831 of course there are going to be things i left out. i limited myself to 3 items.
@@toodlepop I would say it's the number one
@@gdog2831 I wasn't listing them in order of importance either.
@@toodlepop it's OK mate. all good
Hollywood is no longer the dream. People are making entertainment all over the place unrestricted by those layers of BS.
Hollowwokes "secret rasicisism" is about as much a secret as the "secret casting couch".
I'll say this about wanting actual amputees/disabled people in those roles: there are talented disabled actors who can barely get jobs, but then when an able-bodied actor portrays a disabled person it's lauded in all the award shows. Plus there's a lot of stuff people who aren't disabled assume about our lives that isn't true, so it helps to have someone who can point out "that's not how you push a wheelchair, brail signs are actually placed like this," etc.
Remember when their used to be a position in movie credits for *Insert Career* Expert where if it something like a military mobie they would hire vets to oversee the legitimacy. My favorite example was Full Metal Jacket where the sarge was supposed to onlu oversee but he was so good they gave him the roll.
That's what consultants are for.
And you assume able-bodied actors are cast because of inherent abelism rather than simplicity and keeping costs low.
Anyone who knows the Oscars already knew Hollywood was faking their wokeness the whole time
As a black man myself, Los Angeles and Southern California are the most RACIST places in the United States.
Yep from LA every neighborhood is segregated by race smh
He ran for office in LA?? That so f*cking cool!!!
And they keep signalling to all of us how bad WE all are. Probably all the coke.. a-cola
This reminds me of the old Misfits song 'Hollywood Babylon.'
I can tell you that the Democrat regions of NY are extremely racist compared to more libertarian or conservative counties.
I'd 100% believe that, besides Democrats founded the KKK, had concentration camps in the post World War II years to torture and kill Asian Americans, and they also passed segregation laws and tried to prevent the civil rights movement in the 60's.
His voice and presence he would be a good 007
Happy Monday
He’s so talented.
if you are trying to cast someone you have an expectation, a caricature, so of course from the mind of Hollywood which is a hive mind, a collective consciousness, they can uphold stereotypes and incentivize them in reality by presenting them to people who have little motivation to create themselves without a template. you know, like a role model? a father?
The majority of shows on cable are mostly for a black adult audience, but it is all stereotypes of blacks in gangs , criminal empires, strippers, and / or woke characters that must be unwatchable even for their target audience. I just don't understand why the black community doesn't produce shows with a moral lesson.
Like the Cosby show?
I could see Siaka playing a cold, calculating villain.
What would it do to the story of Othello to cast him as Iago?
I'm in UK. BBC news literally just said "tonight on the Oscar's could be a first native american woman of color winner"
It's crazy how this is just the default talking point???
Autism
Thats the dude from..
One sec.
Thats the dude from the bumble bee sarcasm sketch show!
The Bee, i think they call it the bee. 🐝
i don't think an exudes will ever work. Isolating a group only strengthens the the cult. It is important to expose people to different view points that is better done if you maintain your relationships with them. Even if you don't talk about politics if they even just know who you are and get to see that you are a good person it helps shine a light on the discrepancy of what they are being taught.
😵 I saw the first three episodes of '4400' before giving up and they were all awful!
🎬 Nashville, Tennessee or Orlando, Florida could be the capital of a parallel conservative American filmmaking industry if they play their cards right.
🙏 But that means The Daily Wire needs to more widely distribute their content and not just limit their shows and, especially, their films to only subscribers.
The wokes already took over Nashville...even country music is woke now!
What a good dude.
I never saw the original 4400 but it sounds like agents of shield
Secretly? I saw Robert Towmsend's "Hollywood Shuffle" back in the 80s. Since then I've viewed movies and TV shows through the lens of what that movie was pinpointing about how Hollywood and most of these liberals view blacks and other minorities. It's not what people say, it's what they do.
LET THE GUEST SPEAK!
If you want to see an entertaining movie about the unintentional racism of a lot of liberal folks in the entertainment industry, watch American Fiction. It reminded me a lot, of what one of my friends complained about, with people assuming all black people come from the same background.
Of course. Up north, people don't live around black folks. Down south we grow up with all kinds of people.
It looks like this what American Fiction is about. And they don't realize it (or maybe the older academy members do). I will laugh if it wins.

UM...for years now...keep up guys....
Yeah….. breaking news!! Nobody would’ve known without this major reveal…. What a hero.
Hello there, I'm a black atheist. No one asked but there you go... anyway, two things that really boggles my mind, number 1, when hear some black person say "There's no such thing as racism" and 2, is when I hear that some black person JUST NOW realizing that there is actual racism in the world, no shit Inspector Gadget! 👀😳🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a black person also, he is stating that he didn't think the so called "left liberals" were racist. If you been in this world a lot, you know. They are more racist than the so called "MAGA" crowd. White leftists want to keep your "black ass" in your place, in the hood begging them to help you..... I'm sure you know that.
"hidden"?
People are sheep and can be trained to respond to things a certain way.
Mask off recently for sure
Eric July is a horrible writer. His comics are not fit for purpose.
It’s great that he’s had success, but it can’t be scaled.
Is the writing that bad?
