Hi Lily I think some people expect too much. Your original video was great and to the point and I'm glad you made this one to justify your findings from a colourists point of perspective. Thank you for the time and effort you put into your content x BTW, my hubby was cracking up listening to you saying ' you go girl' lol 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Agreed! I was watching this thinking she explained herself clearly in the first video! Actually in ALL her videos she adds the disclaimer that this is for her and it is just her opinion. I was getting defensive for her while watching! She was much calmer than I would’ve been. 😂
I appreciate very much the time and trouble testing these things for us entails. I think people sometimes forget that we are working in coloring books and that I don’t expect mine to find their way to the walls of the Louvre 😂
I think your reviews are super thorough and much more in depth than the basic videos where they just unbox, swatch and at most try them out quickly before saying (99% of the time) that they are great. Haters gonna hate
Thank you Lily for your dedication and going above and beyond for the people of the internet! I hope you didn't feel like you have to defend your work because of the comments on your previous video. All I want to know (as an ordinary amateur colourist) is how many times I can go over the same spot in my amazon paper colouring book without creating a big pulpy (pupey?!) mess, and your first video is more than adequate in addressing that.
I feel terrible, that you have felt, like you need to justify your work/experiments, that you CLEARLY take a lot of your personal time and effort to help and show us all what would be suitable choices for us to make as COLOURISTS in books. But I am over the moon that you could come back on and stand up for yourself and actions. 99.9% of us think you are amazing and a wonderful human being. I love your videos as a beginner. @melody_tune991simms Thanks Melody. I was so excited for these pens, I thought they were going to be the answer to my double-sided colouring book prayers (especially at the moment when I can't use pencils). But when I tested them, disappointment set in as I realised they weren't going to perform any better *how I wanted to use them* So then when I get comments telling me I'm using the wrong paper or not using the pens how they're intended... I get disheartened and wonder why I bother. 🤷♀️

I understand about the hands, I am in the long process of being tested for fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. Seems to me the best were the journaling markers. I 💕 the idea of adding them to a coloring book and then blending them out with each other or water From your testing scientific or otherwise these seem to be the best for how I would use them. Thanks for the details.
Thank you for sharing your findings to answer your own questions!! 🤗😍 That was very kind of you!! 🥰 You've saved a lot of people some money!! 👍 You did an amazingly scientific job at testing all of these markers!! 👏👏
Wow this is detailed and very infomative. Kudos for your effort and time spent. I am painter, but occasionally I like coloring in coloring books and I have some water based markers. I dislike how all of my water based markers pill the paper.
wauw! I have no words. You just make anouther video just because some negative comments.. why are people so picky? Your first video (and all your other ones) were great .They make me smile every time. These overly critically reactions are the reasons why great people stop making video's. I hope you have a nice day.
@moonDolk Some people are just... picky. I thought I was clear explaining I was testing for colouring books... not drawing, not fine art, not watercolouring. This has dampened my enthusiasm for making more pen reviews... life is too short to deal with critical people on the Internet. Thanks for your lovely comment 🥰
Aaah Lily, you have gone above and beyond as always ❤I dont have all the other pens you have, so it was interesting to see the developments and changes. I always wanted the Journal pens ( In the clear plastic tubs) but they were too pricey for me at the time. These look like a good set, and its great they are trying to make supplies that work better for us. Im not really sure what some folks expect when we show a product, it already takes hours to make these videos, and we dont get paid. Yes its fun seeing and trying out the new stuff, but we all have our own real jobs and time off is precious. Some times you just have to try them out yourself to see if they are for you, and send them back if not. You can't ever answer everyones questions. Super video, I do actually like these pens, I've been playing a bit with them this weekend, and I am enjoying them. Thanks for your investigations!👍
@wendyscolouring Exactly Wendy. It takes at least 2-3 to prep, record and edit a video (especially a 55 minute one like last weeks!) and I'm always going to demonstrate the product from my perspective and in the way I'd use it. It's difficult to put a spin on videos to make them different and I'm always keen to (as my husband calls it) "compare and contrast" pens and markers, especially if I have all the previous iterations! To be fair, they're not bad pens at all, they're OK water-based markers... but I think "Paper Friendly" is a bold claim! Yes, they don't tear up the paper quite as much but they seem to bleedthrough a little bit worse. Have fun playing with yours! 🥰
Thanks for all this demonstrating! I bought a set of these new paper friendly markers and was extremely surprised when they did not move along with water. I mean, I did not WANT them to, but I totally expected it! Have you played with how to use that blender included? Great job on all these! ❤
@Nanakinsz I expected them to move with water too! I did try the blender pen in the previous video, as far as I can see, it did nothing. It never blended the pens on normal paper or watercolour paper (and like you, I was surprised how immovable they are!). Enjoy yours! 🥰
I used a mix of all of them. The leaves were Pupe, the berries were the P2.. would have the check the recording I made for the others. I saw your first comment, the set with the Flamingo are probably the worst for CocoWyo type books. Because the Brush tip is smaller and firmer, it scratches the paper more. Softer brush tips are better.
Thank you for wetting them, I had a feeling they were not going to move by the way they laid down in the previous video.. now I know for sure. Thanks for saving me money. I'm really frustrated by these "hybrid" markers they have been coming out with lately, I feel like by trying to make them do everything, they aren't great at anything.
I've never heard of ohuhu's pupe paper friendly markers before this video, but one of the comments you responded to in the video irked me. I LOVE using water-based markers! I use them on sketchbook paper all the time without using water or a brush or watercolor paper. I find them to be a lot of fun to work around or even use the streaky-ness, and I don't really focus on blending them smoothly. I just don't get it when people act like you need watercolor paper to use water-based waters. Sure you can if you want it to not have streakiness but that's not the only "right way" to use them.
@ArtJourneyUK Painting amd drawing is my number 1 hobby! I really appreciate your videos. I will do it and tag or ifnorm you so that you can check my art too 🫂
I think it was very generous of you to spend your time trying to answer all these questions for people. Maybe they can be used in lots of ways but you are very clear about what you would use them for and that that is what you are testing. I agree it is nice that Ohuhu are trying to make better pens but these do not seem like much of an improvement. I also still think it's a terrible name, even if they were trying to invoke beaches why name a water-based product for something famous for sand?
@colorcrazy2944 Thank you and I agree they are not much (if any!) of an improvement, I struggle to see where they are better in both layering on good paper and on standard paper! And yes the name is *very* unfortunate, I gave up trying to pronounce it any other way than its spelt 🤣

I also use the pallette for watercolour pencils. Yes, you can use them straight on the paper, but for me personally, mixing results are better using the pallette. Waiting between layers is like using oil paints: reserved for people with a lot of patience 😉 And lastly: to be honest with you, who on earth applies layer upon layer when using markers?
