I was going to say, yea, she was literally just released from her hell by the A.I. devil. Remember
Yeah, because she's already been through hell through Portal 1 and 2. Being forced to do tests against her will and just when she thought she was getting cake, she was tricked into being incinerated. Then Portal 2 happened where she once again had to avoid turrets, GLaDOS' revenge and then her friend-turned-enemy Wheatley. The world of Half-Life shouldn't be a problem for her.

@@andyhorton4690 that's because Kleiner is a scientist, and scientists tend to see things more rational. Johnson on the other hand seems to be a more corporate kind of guy, rather driven by economic decisions and therefore more open to rivalry with competitors.

The fact chell speaks sign language would make GLaDOS’ statement at the end of portal 2 fully accurate. “You dangerous, mute, lunatics.”.
I'm not sure if this is cannon or not, but apparently chell isn't actually mute, but she just doesn't like to talk because she is pissed off all the time. Again, this was on a random YT comment so I don't know if this is true or not.

But it turned out that featuring the narrator of The Stanley Parable in Half-Portal 3 was not a very good idea. Gordon now found himself being followed around by a disembodied voice describing his every move, and was disturbed at the idea. Chell, who was used to such things, thought nothing of it, until she realized that she was in an abandoned ship in the Arctic, not a secret underground laboratory.

Well, this is very possible as it can be presumed that Chell was in stasis for 20 years, the same as Gordon. And if it was really 20 years, that would put the events of portal 2 around Half-life 2. Thus not only giving Valve the chance to make an awesome plot, but possibly an awesome finale that involves both games in one. A game oriented with a co-op, which uses the portal and gravity gun to solve puzzles, and this also give an opportunity of improving the source engine.
Actually Chell put into statis for thousands of years. Not only the developers say it themselves but also you can get it on your own from the in-game clues. Also combining portal and half-life would not fit, since Portal's main purpose is puzzles while HL's is shooting anyone you see. And it wouldn't make sense since Gordon and Alyx are supposed to be in arctic looking for borealis.
Not only this would not be lore-friendly it would also create a bad gameplay.

Firat Bingol The thousand years statis is a theme, don't take it literally. Realistically it would be impossible for the infrastructure of Aperture Science to hold a few thousand years. They said a few thousand years was more a reference of chaos where you feel like you are the only person left.
As for that, the old aperture wouldn't be much different than the new if it was really a few thousand years Its hard to tell a difference of about 40 years when both things would be like 12000 years old.
Oh well, even if that is true, the portal gun would have abolutely no use outside of aperture since portal guns only work on moon surfaces.

What if... they combine Half Life 3 and Portal 3 into one big Game simply called *3*, with a flexible single-player campaign that includes two simultanous routes, one for Gordon, one for Chell with things happening in one route influencing whats happening in the other. A Campain where you can play only one of the characters if you want (it would be harder that way though) or with both.
I'm just playing around with ideas.

Gordon Freeman isn't mute, Or atleast wasn't always mute. He got his job at black mesa via phone call, So he has talked before.

In Half Life before the incident he was running late and didn't feel the need to say hi to everyone and just rushed to the test chamber
After the incident he again didn't need to talk as it was mostly him going thru the facility alone.For the few people he met he never really needed to talk to them as there was nothing to important to say and he was probably traumatized because of all the deaths he witnessed and caused.
In Half Life 2 ad the episodes he again is probably too traumatized to speak.
Both Gordon and Chell can actually speak. They just don't deem it necessary.

It's so goddam awesome, that I can't really find any words to describe how much I am impressed with it. The idea of showing the main heroes as deaf-mute is very interesting finding.

SMOKE portals can not be placed on non-white surfaces , and I’m no scientist but a portal gun is not a incinerator.
EDIT: Bumping a portal device with a black hole inside with a gravity gun should cause some effects.

Well, we never see the portal gun get taken away. Maybe in the end sequence going up the elevator, its at her feet, or even in her hand but out of her eyes view. As for the piercing, I think it was just the actor that had it, and didn't want to take it off.

half life 3: when gordon and alyx find the borealis they create a mixture of the gravity gun and the portal gun and fight a massive army of combine.
they get a child. the child gets to be chell..
chell gets adopted by cave.. because gordon freeman gets taken away by gman and alyx will die, so gordon freeman with help of the vortiguants will travel trough time with portals all the way back to black mesa to stop all of this from happening, and for gordon not to become g-man. and the end will become you getting back all your loved ones and fighting in a giant battle with the combine and the g-man, in a both epic and awesome fight between space and time.
