      No problem - it was well worth the trip to your location to make sure it worked with my lowered MGB-GT. Great product.. and lovely people :-)

    Great addition to the garage. I purchased the Quick-Jack for my MGB. It goes almost as high as you took your lift in this video- maybe 6" less. I like that I can use a creeper to make working under the car easier. The drawback is that it requires me to take each half and set it up before working on the car, and they are heavy to move. My dream MGB would look just like your GT.

    I have just changed the engine mounts on my MGB. That would have made it a lot easier as I had to remove all the steering. Well done.

      Thanks for your comment. Yes definitely would have helped. I'm looking forward to doing some bits on the car over the winter. I have borrowed ramps in professional workshops over weekends a few times, but I'm looking forward to taking my time removing all the surface rust and getting to work with the Waxoyl and Lanoguard as I can leave it in the air as long as I like!

    Unfortunately my garage is not tall enough to accommodate the lift, however we're moving in the new year and one of my caveats is that the house has a decent garage with headroom.

      Thanks for your comment. Good plan - I was a bit nervous whether it would work well i9n my garage due to the garage door opener, but offsetting the lift not only allowed the full extension, it also gave me more usable space in the garage!

    Excellent suggestion for any home mechanic - okay, it's not cheap, but it may add value to your home if you have to move house - and it would be tricky to take it with you. I guess the reason why it rises before lowering is to disengage the safety locks.

    • @ClassicMGB
      @ClassicMGB  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for your comment - spot on - as I say later in the video, the lift rises slightly to disengage the locks and then drops gently down - a but of a gotcha for those of us with a fairly low garage ceiling - a bit nerve-wracking the first time I did it!

    I have a 2 post lift and you can lift it so high you can bearly touch the chassis. Costs less than this scissor lift and a lot better access . If you haven't got the height you can get low line 2 post lifts as well.

      What's it called and from where?

    • @ClassicMGB
      @ClassicMGB  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for your comment. I did look at 2 post lifts but was concerned that it would impose a bit on the garage as one post would be in the middle and also I was a little worried that my garage floor concrete would be strong enough to support a 2 post - the scissor lift had a larger surface area to spread the load...

    • @Matnrach2-mf9qr
      @Matnrach2-mf9qr 2 месяца назад +1

      @@ClassicMGB Yes you do need a very good concrete floor for a 2 post lift but the advantages are massive over a scissor lift. I use it to work under , wheel free and you can store cars as well

    Nice and clean under there! Looks like a good bit of kit but I'll probably stick with trolley jacks, axle stands and lying on my back as I imagine these aren't cheap.

    • @ClassicMGB
      @ClassicMGB  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for your comment. No, sadly they're not cheap but not being able to lug trolley jacks around any more, its one of the only options.

    It's a great bit of kit, but I've got a council lock-up a good distance from my house with no power.
    So, my professional trolley jack and my axle stands will have to do!
    The money for the ramp will pay for the restoration of my MGB GT.

    Hi looks like a good piece of kit, I was looking at a short 2post lift but might look into a system like yours. Trying to keep costs down 😂

    • @ClassicMGB
      @ClassicMGB  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for your comment - I think a 2 post is probably better to be honest, but for me the scissor lift worked better. I was a bit nervous about the quality of the concrete in the garage so the scissor was safer as it has a larger surface area on the concrete to spread the load...

    Good review. Been thinking about buying one of these for my MGs, was great to see one with a MGB on it gives me a good idea of the space available between the platforms etc, what is the max lift height for the model you have?

    • @ClassicMGB
      @ClassicMGB  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for your comment. The maximum lift height is 1 metre. I didn;t take it all the way up on the video because the garage door needed to be shut to do that and then it would have been a bit dark for filming, but it has been right to the top - its pretty comfortable to work underneath :-)

    I have been looking a Scissor lifts for my garage but I don't like the drive over like your's. There not to much money also!

    • @ClassicMGB
      @ClassicMGB  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for your comment. They are a lot of money but every time I raise the car up, I have a little smile. My plan B if I couldn't face driving over it every time I put the car in the garage was to sink the lift into the floor - a bit more involved, but easier to get the car in. Thankfully I haven't needed that so far, but time will tell :-)
