This video tells the story and highlights the journey from a fairly standard rubber bumper MGB-GT to something rather special! If you fancy your car being the star in a future episode, then drop us an e-mail at hello@classicmgb.com with some details about the car, together with as many reasonable resolution...

Would you know if your car was broken into, or stolen? Are you sure where it is right now? If not, then it may be worth watching our latest video where we put a Carlock tracker through its paces and see if it really lives up to the its claims to provide extra security and peace of mind… We only review products we’ve bought and used ourselves, and accept no inducement, financial or otherwise, fr...

Can you remember what you were doing 36 years ago? Mark Nelson can because he sold his MGB-GT but it just goes to show that you can’t get an MGB out of your system as, against all the odds, he tracked it down and bought it back! Watch our video that tells the story of a 36 year love affair!. If you fancy your car being the star in a future episode, then drop us an e-mail at hello@classicmgb.com...
MGB Overdrive Fail!
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.Месяц назад
When the MGB-GT’s reverse gear began to stop working randomly, there was literally no going back! The general consensus online was that these symptoms, together with some intermittent freewheeling, suggested a failing clutch in the overdrive unit and, whilst this was backed up by several professional workshops, none wanted to sort it out. One garage we tried wouldn’t even swap a reconditioned u...
The Famous Marathon MGB
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.Месяц назад
Now and again, we’re privileged to see a truly historic MGB and there aren't many that are more iconic than the Marathon MGB. The car took part in the 1968 London-Sydney Marathon rally - over 10,000 miles in 10 days of driving, plus a sea crossing from Bombay in India to Fremantle in Australia. The car was driven by Jean Denton (later to become Baroness Denton) and co-driven by Tom Boyce and fi...
MGB for Free?

How do you fancy an MGB Roadster for free? Well, that’s exactly what Owen Turley, the subject of our latest Viewers cars video got. The car was a non-runner and did require some work so take a look to see how Owen got on! Owen has a RUclips channel featuring the MGB called “That Orange MGB” (no prizes for guessing what colour it is!) www.youtube.com/@Thatorangemgb
Is this the best motor museum in the world?
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.Месяц назад
Whether or not it's the best in the world is down to personal opinion, but the Isle of Man Motor Museum is definitely one of the most interesting collections with a massively wide range of vehicles. Being the Isle of Man, you’d expect motorcycles and there are over 350 of them, but there’s also 200 other exhibits including commercial vehicles, military vehicles, amphibious vehicles and even a c...
MG Owners Club Tour of the Isle of Man 2024

How do you fancy a 700 mile round trip in an MGB? We’ve always wanted to go to the Isle of Man, so when we saw the MG Owners had organised a tour, we didn’t hesitate to sign up. One of our concerns on long distance touring in the MGB was its reliability, so having some experts on hand really helped… Of course, things didn’t exactly go to plan… Just for the record, we paid full price for the tou...

How to prepare for a long trip in your MGB
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.2 месяца назад
We’ve not undertaken a long trip in our MGB-GT so when we decided to go on the MG Owners Club tour to the Isle of Man, we decided that we needed to think about what checks we should do. We also thought that a good selection of spares would be useful so asked Chris Bentley from MGOC Spares for advice. The list of spares is shown below. We also used Lindsay Porter’s MGB Service Guide book for adv...

Romeo - the original MGC GTS
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.3 месяца назад
Romeo is one of the most famous MGs that ever left the Abingdon factory. Alongside its stablemate, Mabel, Romeo, named after the first three letters of its registration number, was built to take part in long distance races in the late 1960s and was sold after the 1969 Sebring 12 hour race. Luckily, the car was eventually brought back to the UK and we managed to track the car down to relive the ...

How many miles are on the car?
Ok I’m getting one now ❤
Great weekend, great racing, got absolutely soaked but had great fun. Combe is a fantastic circuit
Thanks for your comment - couldn't agree more... and we got wet too :-)
Great video Graham. Love watching old mgbgts racing 👍.
Thanks for your comment - us too - the classics look fantastic round the track - particularly in the wet!
The sisters are a delight 😊
Thanks for your comment - absolutely!
The Red B in auction is an RPS body kit. It's a fibreglass kit I have one on my B. Saves a ton of weight and looks better than the rubber bumpers. Doesn't need any cutting and welding either so can be put back to factory nice and easily too.
Thanks for your comment and thanks for the info - every day's a school day!
Great video and new adventure for the Classic MGB Team.
Thanks for your comment - always appreciated!
Great video Graham, thanks for posting!
Many thanks for your comment - always approeciated!
Bang up job, sir.
Many thanks for your comment - every one is appreciated!
Greta video Graham
Many thanks for your comment - always appreciated!
Brilliant Graham, lovely to see the two young girls getting involved in a bit of racing in an MGB.
Many thanks for your comment - completely agree Emily and Arabella were lovely and certainly petrolheads!
WOW, just seen my old friend's brothers car 222wae that he used to drive back in the 60's and 70's. My friend can tell the story better than I can as his brother was the driver and my friend ran the pits. Apparently Castle Coombe was one of its local racetracks .Quite a competitive car back in the day with a fair bit of history. Nice one Graham.
Thanks for your comment - what a great spot!
We’re planning to go to an all British classic car show with a 1970 MGB this Saturday here in upstate New York at Woodstock. (Yes, THAT Woodstock)
Many thanks for your comment - excellent - glad to see the MGB still doing well stateside!
Some lovely cars.
Many thanks for your comment - Completely agree... some lovely cars!
Looks good
Many thanks for your comment - it looks like a great car!
A fact I read somewhere that I find interesting is that there is a relationship between the design of the orginal Ford Mustang and the 71/72 ‘fishmouth’ MGB because some Ford engineers who’d worked on Mustang were brought over to collaborate on the design. the fishmouth recessed grill is reminiscent of the grill of the Mustang, gives it a sportier look rather than the classic British look, and apparently that’s due to the influence of the Ford engineers. Not sure how true that is, who the engineers were, what other influence they had but I’d be interested to find out more. Thanks for the video - I enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for your comment - I haven't heard that one about the Ford engineers though...

I think this is a duplicate post :-)
After watching the video, you were right and very wise to have the gearbox and overdrive serviced, especially by an establishment that loves what they do! Changing the throwout bearing can never hurt. At least now you'll have the peace of mind that everything operates as designed.
Thanks for your comment - and reassurance that it was worth it! :-)
Awesome car looks great without going ott. Well done 👍
Thanks for your comment! Absolutely - couldn't agree more!
Beautiful MG! Enjoy.
Many thanks for your comment - I love my MGB!
Before you go crazy I would change the oil in the unit. Overdrives are sensitive to detergents in certain oils.
Thanks for your comment. The gearbox has been overhauled and the overdrive replaced with a reconditioned unit. All is working well now!
Don't know what it is but I always have a soft spot for MGB❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for your comment! It's because they're brilliant little cars :-)
Another proud MGB owner! Outstanding video and presentation.
Thanks for your comment as always!
I've wanted a Midget since I was a kid!
Thanks for your comment - I would get one - you won't regret it! :-)
I bought a 1977 MGB cheap with the engine, transmission, radiator, gas tank and seat redone but the suspension and brakes are terrible but that can be solved with some hard work and a few dollars, I want to install front disc brakes and redo the rear drum brakes unless disc brakes are available for the rear also and I rebuilt the carbs in my friends shop it has dual carbs and runs nice but needs a really good shakedown of most every component for it just sat to long without driving it daily or at least weekly, when took over from the owners garage to my friends garage it was on a slide wrecker and did not even roll off on its own power without being started it barely slid off the wrecker bed for the rear drum brakes were both locked up and freed them up by taking the rear tires off and using penetrating oil and a steel hammer to beat on the drums and turn the hubs until both sides were free and later fixed the drum brakes on the rear with an overhaul of the entire brake system both front and rear
Thanks for your comment - good luck with the work!
Hi This is the second or third time I have watched this video and I am still very impressed with the car . I see the car has now been sold and I don't think it made as much money as it was worth What do you think ,and do you know who bought it and did it stay in this country .Tim
Really glad yopu like the video so much and many thanks for your comment. It's a shame it didn't make a bit more. We've been in touch with Bonhams and asked if we could be put in touch with the buyer and so has the MGB Register. No luck yet, but watch this space!
I graduated from high school in 1969. Three cars were on my radar---Porsche 914, Opel GT, and MGBGT. The Opel no longer interest me. I owned a 914 for about 10 years. Never owned a MGBGT. Now it's on my radar once again. Me and the wife think we would look mighty keen in a GT. I agree with Lee. Great decision. Enjoy the content on your channel. Stay safe.
Thanks for your comment - Good luck finding a nice GT.. you won't regret it :-)
Great video
Many thanks for your comment - much appreciated! :-)
I use a,streetwise tracker which is linked to my mobile phone via a sim card. Had it for about 6 years, no subscription!
Thanks for your comment - that sounds interesting but do you not have to pay for credit on the SIM in the device?
@ClassicMGB yes but got a deal with my phone so only a fiver a month!
@@wayneblake1161 Sounds like a good option! 🙂
Good,another rubber bumper!
Thanks for your comment Wayne - there's plenty around, and I agree with Lee that they're definitely accepted more now. Personally, I like them as you know :-)
Nice!
Thanks TIm - hope all is well!
@@ClassicMGB good thanks. If your in Wales you'll have to have a drive of my 2.0 MGB
Nice looking motor !
Thanks for your comment - couldn't agree more...
I bought aa 1968 MGB in 1976 and enjoyed it for a few months without issue but as a young guy then, it was not lively enough for me after rebuilding an old race car. Since then I have rebuilt a few more cars, amongst them an MGA roadster and an MG Midget which while similar have very different feel than the MGB. I would advise to test drive these three models (and the MGB GT), as one will fit the requirements of your pocket and age. The MGB is easier to get into as you get older, but everyone has their own requirements.
Thanks for your comment - I agree that the standard MGB isn't very lively, but still a lot of fun :-)
Very interesting, great review.
Thanks for your comment - much appreciated!
My first car was a 1965 MGB I bought it used in 1966 I learned how to drive a manual transmission driving my MGB I started driving in 1966 I never made this mistake but don't put the wrong oil in a su carburetor dampers
Thanks for your comment. There seems to be a lot of different views about SU car oil. Many people say that normal engine is OK, but I've always used the stuff with SU on the bottle - maybe unnecessary but better for my peace of mind!
Every car should have one. Great vid. Thanks Marc
Thanks for your comment. That's what I thought! :-)
Greetings from Fort Lauderdale. This workshop would be worth the airfare to the UK - except I don’t have my B. Yet! 😅
Thanks for your comment. It's well worth a visit although it could be a bit far for you! Are there any more local workshops in the US?
Great video with very useful information 👍
Thanks for your comment - if just one person gets one and it stops their MGB being stolen then it will be worth it!
You know, I dont miss OD because I've never had it. I go 80 mph everyday and have just gotten used to 4000 rpms over the last 20 years. Both my cars just do it. And so do I. Lol
Thanks for your comment - fair enough, each to their own, but I love my overdrive on the motorway! :-)
If my 63 B was stolen, I would take the insurance money and get another Brit car, perhaps an MGC.. I miss mine bought in 1970.
Thanks for your comment - I'd hate losing my MGB to a thief...
I've been looking at something like this for ages. This has been on my radar and this video has made my decision for me. Unfortunately the code wouldn't work
I’ve just checked the code and it works fine for me. You have to enter the promotional code in the payment method section when you checkout on Amazon… let me know if you’re still having problems…
Great story and the sandy colour suite it
Thanks for your comment - yes, it looks good in that colour.
One fact you may not know is : MG stands for Morris Garages, Abingdon, Oxford Uk. The 'B' is the model of engine
Thanks for your comment. I agree about Morris Garages, but the B in MGB doesn't relate to the engine as the MGA also had a B series engine. In fact, its simply the next letter after A - MGA,MGB etc :-)
More money than sense.
Thanks for your comment - I guess everyone values things differently!
The engine shown has a crank pulley nut for starting with a hand crank, but I don't think any MGBs had the openings in the body and bumper to pass a crank through. MGAs had the hand crank conveniently stowed in the trunk.
Thanks for your comment - good spot!
I love your channel. If you are ever in California, I would love to meet you and you are welcome to come see all the MG projects we are trying to restore. I wish you the best with the channel and look forward to more content! Great job!
Thanks you so much for your kind words - much appreciated. I've been to California a few times on work film shoots - we actually were the first journalists to drive the Pacific Coast Highway in a hydrogen powered car (but that's another story!) - lovely place, and if I even go back, I'd love to meet up!
I bought my pale primrose US Export model 69GT in January of 69 from the factory ($2405) - the summer of 69 I sold it. In the spring of 22, I found it again. It's now in my garage after a thorough going thru - it had been in a storage since 1993.
Thanks so much for your comment - if you;d like it to feature in a viewers cars episode, drop us a line at hello@classicmgb.com with the story and some photos/videos - would love to hear from you! :-)
I bought my '64 two years ago and have $18,500 into it including purchase price of $4,500. Keep in mind, it's beautiful and pe forms brilliantly. If I were to sell it today, I know I could ask $18,500, but thats not the point of owning these. Have fun and safety fast!
Thanks for your comment - couldn't agree more!
What a great story such a lucky fella and a great looking car thanks for the video Graham keep up the great work 👍. There’s definitely something about mgbs great car’s.
Many thanks for your kind comments! Yep, MGBs are a bit special I reckon! :-)
