    About The Carol Burnett Show
While there’s no truth to the rumor that “CBS” ever stood for The Carol Burnett Show, for eleven seasons and 278 episodes, this star-studded extravaganza of sketch comedy, song and dance became entertainment central for the network and TV viewers. Burnett operated in a relaxed theater setting that allowed her to take questions, cut loose with her famous Tarzan yell and join fellow performers Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner to have a laugh or sing a song. The show received 25 Emmy Awards and eight Golden Globes, making it one of the most honored shows in television history.

What a great show. Lucky enough to go to one of her shows in early 70's. Went on stage gave her a kiss on the cheek. Then later when living and working in Los Angeles had a friend who was a writer on here later show in late 80's got to meet her after her show in her dressing room. It was a great experince she was so gracious. What a brilliant entertainer.

There's actually another version of the dentist sketch, probably the second show filming, where sound effects where added every time Tim stuck himself, and also he stabbed his tongue and of course his attempts at speech were hilarious! Miss you, Tim and Harvey! Best comedy duo ever!

My wife and I watched Conway and Korman perform The Dentist live at the Arena Theater in Houston in, I think the late 90s or 2000s. It was much later than this, but they still had their gift of comedy.

@@Mike_Plays Seems at the time, people loved it and wished they could see it again. Back then, this was a treat, Carol showing her audience the videotape of a really good existing skit. Not something she'd do often, I'm sure.
And, yes, it really is that funny, to be worthy of being shown like this.

I love that they're posting full episodes, but why did they cut out the ending? And I feel like a few more things were cut out as well. Was it to avoid copyright claims? Or so that we would have to purchase the music ourselves? Or both? This is Mama Cass Elliot! I want to see her perform and interact with the team (besides the skit that they included, which I appreciate).

    • @djquinn4825

Probably licensing stuff related to the music. Probably would have cost them more to keep it in than they expect to make from ad revenue. It's also possible Cass Elliot's estate (or whoever owns the songs they're singing in the cut bits) refused to license them for whatever reason.
