I’m going to keep grinding I’m going to keep this man as amazing mentor! This was class and just an amazing segment Frank. Thank You. Happy Mew Year. Glad to know you.
I love these question, I especially found it fascinating that you were offered a front office job by an NHL team. Thanks for keeping Daily Faceoff alive.
Frank is the type of guy that, if you asked him an "either/or" question, would never answer with a classic cop out of "a little bit of both" unless "both" is the exact point he is making - and I respect him for it.
I am glad to hear that Frank is being realistic with the state of the Sabers ownership. Of course it is easy to bash the lack of success on the ice - but in fairness - Pegula has invested so much money into the team and honestly the infrastructure of Buffalo and hockey in NW New York . I can relate being a lifelong red wings fan - when Mr Illitch bought the team in 1982 - for $ 8 million BTW - the team had been so neglected and had fallen into such a terrible state of disillusion by fans it was a huge leap of faith that he would restore the glory of the franchise . He took plenty of swings - and there were plenty of misses before they finally began to hit . Terry Pegula has tried unfortunately he has swung and missed when it came to managing the Sabers. I do not know exactly what happened - but when they hired Pat Lafontaine to be president and he quit - approx 6 or 8 weeks later - that was a really bad situation - since then they have not recovered - hopefully at some point Pegula will get comfortable with having a first shelf hockey person - many people forget that they had essentially gotten an agreement from Mike Babcock to coach - -and the Leafs came in an stole him away from the Leafs - that would have created a very different trajectory for all three entities . I figured that Babcock's ego was going to have a hard time in TO . He would have been better to go to Buffalo they had a better core at the time and less scrutiny - it would have been better for all but maybe after this go round - they will flush Adams and Ruff - and get really legitimate experienced GM and coach and get this right . Good for Frank again to acknowledge the greatness of Bobby Mac
That would be the fun part - any fans of the 'new' team would be the anti-Leaf fans! It's the upstart against the legacy, david versus goliath. It would be great theater!
If this was a weekly segment, I would watch it every week. I love this format. Great video so far
