Just a suggestion, I use what looks like the same stock stickers on my parts. If you put a piece of blue painters tape on the part first, the customer will be able to remove it much easier without leaving any residue.

Thoroughly interesting! What kind of system do you use to catalogue your inventory, if any? The problem I see for you in the future, being an avid eBay seller, is that as you ramp up this part of your business, you will have many parts, from many units taking up much space. It will become increasingly confusing and difficult to locate specific parts especially if you are parting identical units. When I started, it was easy to remember where I put each individual item, as I scaled my store it became increasingly disorganized and I feared shipping out the wrong item or having to cancel a sale due to being unable to locate it in my inventory. The consequences, or pains, of negative transactions on eBay are not pleasant! I ended up with a system whereby I label each individual shelf on my racks and place items willy nilly throughout noting the shelf name of each item in the eBay listing itself. This makes it easy to find each item and makes my packing time more efficient.
Also, the sales floor was looking plentiful, can't wait to see some videos about that!

Good question! With appliance parts, I have most items separated into categories and sub categories. For example, I have all Whirlpool topload washer control boards in one tote. All mechanical timers in another. One drawer has pressure switches, and another oven relays and so on.... So all the major components have an area. I am working on more shelving to be able to parse out what I have, inventory wise, better. I know a lot of people do exactly what you are talking about - inventory #'s for a given shelf. I've considered that, but also really like having all of one type of component on one shelf or area, so if I need to inventory a given type of item, I can pull everything and deal with it at once rather than pull from multiple shelves for one item that tends to sell well. But I'll definitely take it into consideration!

@@bensappliancesandjunk Hey Ben I just started tearing down and parting out Oven and Dishwasher parts on ebay but having some trouble. I've sold a few here and there but not much. There are so many different part numbers and Brands for the same exact part that you are sell lol. What's the secret to listing? Iv been looking up all the part numbers for the one specific item and including it in the title and description with everything else but it's not working to well. Any tips?

Subscribed! Try to sell the smaller parts internationally. Just paid US$75 for a TMD1EM03 and knob in Canada. Couldn't find a used one anywhere. And it's a dryer timer, we could live without it for another week during the summer for shipping.
I've been Ebaying on/off for 20 years now. I hate quick sales! It means I priced my items too low. I'd gladly wait a month for a sale to get an extra 10%+. Best investment ever. Set the price high, then lower it over time if it doesn't move. Lots of reasons why someone will buy yours vs. a cheaper one, e.g. they're near you and need the part *yesterday*.

Mary personal favorite is to take the drum off the older Whirlpool washers. I'll have somebody come by either Scrappers so pick up the scraps and I'll sell the drama loan for $30 locally. People use these washer drums preferably more porcelain than the metal as fire pits.

I need to start listing mine. I had someone come in that wanted a few for fire pits, but never came/paid for them after I stocked a few.

They do sell for quite a bit if the board/interface are still good. But if you can get a cheap repair in and flip for $300/400 or so.. May want to go that route.

I have a used RF268ABRS by Samsung that was a total PITA. Eventually I lost all the Freon charge from leaking tube(s) near the compressor.
That puppy cost me over $2000!!!
Now I hate to throw it out knowing the prices for drawers, rails, doors, and the circuit boards. Odds are the compressor is not really bad, just needing a vacuum pulled for a a day. There are also the coils, 2 icemakers, and fans, glass and racks.
I just never sold on ebay and I have a few odds and ends that may be worth selling like a PT Cruiser Tail light lens that I mistakenly bought the wrong side.
Anybody got pointers of other places to resale used stuff?

    • @bensappliancesandjunk

Facebook Marketplace is great for *certain* things. You aren't going to sell lights or rails easily, but larger complete pieces of anything are gonna do really well.
