The Sharp LR35902 (roughly based on the Zilog Z80, itself an Intel 8080 clone) chip in the GBA was only used for backwards-compatibility with the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, each of which had the LR35902 as their main processor (4 MHz in GB, 8 MHz in GBC). The Nintendo DS dropped the Z80, and still ran GBA games natively on one of its 32-bit ARM processors, as the GBA was in fact ARM-based. @@JXChip I'm not sure if you know already or not but the GBA outside of the original gameboy's sound chip had to further sound chip every thing else was made in software over CPU cycles which is why Sound quality on the GBA could be wonky sometimes as better music could result in worse game performance as both use the CPU unless a track was entirely using just the Gameboy's sound chip which just gives access to 4 noise channels.
