    DISCLAIMER: Hey everyone! I made this video and a few others early in our families autism journey so there may be language used that is no longer considered correct. In particular the word "severe". I was just going with what I knew at the time. I am still learning everyday about how to best support my daughter and her peers. Thanks for understanding!

      @@thatdailymamaRN here with a 21 and 18 year old and 3 year old with autism. Another thing was he would not answer to his name, didn’t say momma or daddy until he was almost 3. He repeated many words and phrases. He looked like a “normal kid” to most people who just happened to tippy toe all the time. He was not social with anyone except immediate family. Most people will not see the early signs when they are not with the kid as much as the mom is. I raised two kids previously and am in no ways a let’s diagnose everything type of parent. My kids had to be tuff because I was that type of nurse. It was just a feeling in my gut early on something was off and I kept seeing the delays and odd behaviors. My first two were normal to advanced on mile stones so I tried to be cautiously optimistic that every kid is different, but at his 18 month check up I was asking for an evaluation after ruling out hearing or vision issues. I have a child with autism who has grown into a nice young man. The most important thing we did was eliminate carbs and milk and do a keto diet. No sugar (no juice), no seed oils, no carbs, real food cooked from scratch. We would give him homemade bone broth either beef or chicken instead of juice. He did so much better with animal fat and animal protein in his diet. He came to me after a week and said, "mom, I feel so much better, we should have done this a long time ago."

      I had a speech delay and didn't eat mainly because I had tonsillitis and constant ear infections. Once the tubes in my ears were put in and tonsils were taken out, that took care of the speech delays and eating problems. I went to speech class, but also once you are around kids a lot like in preschool or a day care, that helps out a lot as well. Great video, and please , show the other signs, to help other families to find out early, and get the proper help needed . I love my great grandson, how is a loving, happy boy. Very smart too. I think the biggest indicator her is being nonverbal in inaudible babbling at 2. Also, be aware of their lack of eye contact, social interactions and spinning, twirling, and excessive flipping of objects. Some of the other indicators, bouncing, tippy toes, flapping when they want something or anticipate something are normal expressive movements. Do observe your child for limited excessive and repetitive behaviors. As always, when I’m doubt and concerned, please consult your pediatrician. I applaud all of you mothers and caregivers for early intervention👏🏾👏🏾

    I agree its not necesarily the individual things that can say whether a child has autism or not its a collectivism so many different traits that could quite possibly go hand in hand that would eventually help diagnose any problem pertaining to an autism diagnosis
    Comments from people stating
    " mine does that ..and doesn't have it"
    Are not obviously understanding what you are wonderfully describing To help people if they generally feel theres a problem with their childs development .
    Not for those who don't see any issues or delays with their childs development.

    I have 2 things to say one a mother knows when something is wrong so stop telling her this is a normal behavior in toddler cause it's got nothing to do with your opinion your probably one of those parents that sees it and denies it because you treat it like a disease and 2 if you don't fight to get that diagnoses early you might never get it because they try not to put labels on kids which I get but it wasn't till I got my son diagnosed did he get the help he needed in school. So instead of saying oh this is normal behavior from a 5 10 min video you don't see the toddler every day and neither do I. Keep taking care of that sweet little angel your doing great and don't mind other people's comments.

So chin up you are a gd person and clearly you care , just give it some time and try not to stress to much, they will eventually see and know what they must do .

He never had had flaping, never tip toed, very social, sweet and happy boy. He had and still has limited food prefrences (he ate everything till 18 months), sleeped always good, EEG is normal. He is now 4 years old and is very behind. He is still not verbal. He has more then 50 words and senetences he uses but it is not very good and i wouldn't call it being verbal because he talks in his own language most of the time. Words he uses are 90% of the time functional. He has no echolalia. He is at 2.5 year level cognitivly and with his speach. His motor skills were always good. They were not shure if he had autism but now they say he is for shure on the spectrum, we just have to do a test in a month to find out wich level. So he is not the clasic case because he doesn't have the typical red signs but i had this gut feeling from when his 18 months when he had regression. I just wasn't 100% shure.

    From a preschool teacher of 20+ years, she has basic signs .. flapping and tippy toe, but I’ve seen way more severe than that but at the end of the day, it’s all about early intervention and the faster they get help faster everybody adapts to everything. I hope everything goes well for her.

      The hopping and jumping seems like normal happy behavior for a 2 year old child. She is very adorable and appears to be just enjoying life. i don't see why that is a problem or a warning sign, isn't that what 2 year olds do?

    • @thatdailymama
      @thatdailymama  2 года назад +2

      @@curtisjones400 it’s not so much the hopping or flapping on its own it’s more the excessiveness and repetition. Also all of these behaviours on their own are fairly mundane but when they become excessive and repetitive and they are combined all together with speech delays and very big communication delays is when you may want to ask about autism :) all toddlers dabble in these things but they don’t do it obsessively and all at the same time. Hope that helps!

    My nephew was diagnosed with ADHD when he was young. He did well in school but was socially awkward. He is a twin. His sister was fine. As he became a late teen my Daughter (who works with autistic children Professionally) told my Brother to get him tested. We all saw the signs. My brother blew her off and said he was tested and they said ADHD. A few years later my Nephew comes to my Brother and Sister-in-law and tells them he is being tested for Autism. At this stage the only people who couldn't see it was them. Now here is the kicker. My whole family are toe walkers including me. He was a toe walker but had a bounce in his step. We just walk on our toes with no bounce. Sort of like high heels. Had I known about this toe walking thing I would have pushed harder for him to be tested. BTW, he now has a formal Autism diagnosis.

    Thank you for putting your life out there to try to help others! I am sorry about some of the comments. I think people don't see it because they are only seeing a few seconds of a video and they don't get to see the full picture. You are correct about the behaviors but sometimes its hard to tell. My infant did the hand flapping thing but then did it less and less over time. I think other kids do these behaviors but they're prob not as frequent. I wish the best of you luck to you and your family! God bless you! Ignore the trolls.

      @ under all circumstances pulling back on sugar and feeding children a solid healthy whole food diet is always beneficial. Same goes for adults. Never underestimate the power of a healthy diet. A so called normal child will see benefits from improving their diets and getting them off the junk. Brain power. I know I feel better and think more clearly when my diet is clean.
