- We caught up with Chip Erwin at Sun 'n Fun 2023 to talk about the V-twin Aeromarine engine, a modified powersports four-stroke, fuel-injected engine fitted to the Merlin LSA and available for other Experimentals. The V-twin is based on a popular powersports engine and drives a propeller through a belt reduction drive.

Bought one of these V-Twins last year at Oshkosh for $7500. It came with a wiring harness made for an ATV, so after sending the harness back to Chip and receiving it back modified, I had to ask for another original which was sent to me, I have modified it myself. Engine starts and purrs like a kitten. Saw Chip at Oshkosh 2023, bought some parts (fuel pumps and hoses) and he said he'd send some more, a water tube, re-drive upgrade... I just received them in the mail, kinda surprised at how fast I got them!
@@DaveTube775 Yes, it helps get the attention of the manufacturer, and it seems to have worked. Met Chip, bought some parts, had a discussion about the re-drive, he told me he'd send parts and he did! Edited my original post to be manufacturer friendly. Communication is the key. When you ask and keep trying to communicate and get nothing back, it tends to get people upset. I'm hoping we are past that now, plus I have a $7500 engine that is now useful.
What a cool ...cool..aircraft...I'd love to work at this factory...

Who manufactures these engines? Is it a Kawasaki engine for the brute force atv?
Who makes the engine? Lifan?
If it's out of a Can-AM ATV it's a Rotax isn't it?
Hopefully Lifan, it’s obviously Chinese at that price. I beat the crap out of my Lifan pressure washer and never had a problem. I don’t like sending money to the commies, but it was on sale!
