Thank you for looking into this! As a model builder I was looking at this from a different angle. Remove the backing from one side so the corrugated surface is exposed and then run it through the laser and you have a wavy surface for stuff like ancient Japanese castle roofs.
Thank-you. I received my laser yesterday. I was looking for a reasonable first project to 'break-in' my laser and bring me some exposure to Lightburn. Within 30 minutes I had 2 custom sized cardboard boxes. You made the whole process so easy and I loved the tip for the template website.
Amazing thanks! I am on xtool and their xcs software, they dont explicitly have a preferation mode setting... Do you have any idea how to go about making a box wihtout this function? Thanks!
That’s a good question. Maybe make those lines a scored line, so you know where to fold the cardboard? So a partial cut through just the top layer of the cardboard? Are all Xtool lasers compatible with Lightburn? If so, that could be an option for you. I just purchased an F1 today and I know it’s compatible with Lightburn.
Great video! Can you use regular cardboard sheets like from ULINE? I thought about doing this in the future for my shop, or do you need a special kind of cardboard?
Hi, When I increase the flap after selecting the node when I hit the side arrow, it's going very long. Also, when I import the picture, my box is very large as well. Maybe my scale settings are not right. Thanks for making the box.
Thanks, great job 🥰 you've done But I faced the problem of the smell of the carboard fire, how can I remove the smell because I want to put baked goods in this package
The sheets can be purchased from Amazon or Uline. If purchasing just a few sheets, I highly recommend Amazon. You won’t have to order a crazy amount and you will receive free shipping! It will just be a bit slower than Uline
Thanks for the awesome video! I tried it out today and I have a question about the type of cardboard. I tried it will a 2 mm sheet of corrugated and when it bent the cardboard at the perforations that run perpendicular to the grain of the cardboard the card board rips/cracks. Are you using a thinner cardboard? Thanks again for the video!
For anyone reading this comment having the same issue, I was able to solve the issue by changing the power and speed on my perforation cut so that it would only cut through one side of the paper on the corrugated cardboard rather than cutting all the way through. When you bend the sides, you place your cut piece with perforation side up bend the sides up. That helped prevent any cracking or tearing on the outside of the box and it is nice and strong.
Just a few minutes. I think to cut the box on my laser is maybe 2 minutes? Then assembly. Which I have to do anyway, regardless of whether I make or buy them

Never heard of making your own boxes! This will really look nice for customers, thanks for sharing.

Finally, someone with a Thunder made this video. Thank you Katie
Thanks so much for watching! Hopefully it helps!
nice tutorial, just what i was looking for- thanks :D
Thanks, Katie - cutting one now.
Thx I learned a lot- The links below was icing on the cake for me....
Wow! I am new to laser machines. I have an Omtech Polar. I'm a little intimidated but I'm learning a lot. Loved your video.
Very helpful. Thanks! I have a massive stack of boxes taking up way too much room. This is better.
I may use my laser to cut up throw away boxes for the recycling
Love this video 💕
Thanks very much I have been really having a problem finding the right size boxes

Really Helpful. Thank you Dear
What a great video! I’m constantly searching for odd sizes!!
So glad you found it helpful!
Nicely explained to the point. Thanks.

Thank you very much for this video. It's a very helpful one for me.
I would like to do double walls like in the old OssiconeLabs video. Probably have to add those in manually?
Yes, I would think so
Why didn't I think of this!!?? Thank you 😘
Thank you so much for watching!
I'm looking to make boxes 12x9x2 and 14x10x3 would this be possible and what are possible costs for a machine for this?
Great video. I want to start doing this. How much extra space do you use on the edges to protect art when shipping?
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you so much 😊

I use zero odor febreze and let it sit out for a while.
Where do you find the cardboard sheets?
Thanks for a great video.

if you call the design dept of any local corrugated box plant - they can hook you up with cheap sheets - maybe even free scrap pieces

do you have to let the cardboard set or does it have a burn smell?
I’ve never noticed a burned smell at all when cutting cardboard.
how long does it take to make one regular box
Just a few minutes. I think to cut the box on my laser is maybe 2 minutes? Then assembly. Which I have to do anyway, regardless of whether I make or buy them
I love you Katie
crush the perfs with a dowel or rubber mallet before you fold them and you will get a better fold result
Laser engrave your logo onto the box! That will raise the business professionalism even higher.
Perfect 😊 But why not use paper tape? It looks nicer in my opinion.
I’m not sure what you mean by proper tape. Do you mean instead of the 3m?
@Katie Cleveland ☺️ I mean paper tape, (not proper 😁) for the boxes. Instead of the transparent tape. Not important but I think it looks nicer.
Oh, gotcha. I just don’t have or use that tape.
bana lazer gravür aldıracaksınız 🥰
So I saved all this money by making my own boxes. My boxes are way cheaper. This laser payment is killing me though.
😅
I mean, ideally you'll be paying for the laser through a business model.
Why not engrave your logo on the top also :)
I definitely could! I also made stamps with my logo to add to the boxes.
Thanks for the step by step walkthrough on making boxes, I prefer using a glue gun on the flaps myself since I have it out for projects anyways.
