+NissanTy Both Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle gave Tony Stewart a run for his money at the championship. Mark Martin was still around, too. That was probably a huge role in Roush.
This was back when there was still real racing in NASCAR. This kind of racing and pass would never happen on any track today, except maybe one of the plate tracks. NASCAR is a shell of what it used to be.
im getting pissed about all the people saying that nascar sucks now and how the c.o.t has ruined it. in case you missed it, 2010 was the best season in a long time. there were good finishes, good rivalries and fights and a good chase for the title. it has been a great year for nascar and everybody still says it sucks. nascar is trying to make it better. they have been working on the cars and tweaking the rules to make it better and it is working.
I remember when DW Said Edwards was sliding around and that he shouldn't wreck a good finish and let Biffle go. I looked at my dad and said no way, Carl will get Johnson you watch.
I had J.Johnson inthe NASCAR pool at work and thought I had the win but you know what? I'd rather see a great race like that than take the pool. thats when I started following him. Even after the Atlanta (Keselowski ) incident this weekend, i still admire him. You give him shit, he gives it right back 10 fold
@RedzDevilz the chase has its ups and downs. what i dont like is that you can have someone who hasnt won a race all season and make it in the chase and get good runs and win the championship but its also good because it used to get boring when there used to be like 10 races left in the season and they had a huge lead and you already knew they were going to win
You have to give Carl a lot of credit, he had a very loose car and at the final lap, he caught up to Johnson and passed him at the front stretch, and you gotta give Jack Roush a lot of credit too, in the 2004 season, the 99 team had not a lot of sponsorship, and was about to abandon the 99 car next year, good thing he didn't, grat job for Carl in that race, i have a feeling that he'll win a championship sometime in his career
@fbookacc yeah their points have always been confusing but they just changed it this week so now the first place winner gets 43 points and and second place gets 42 points and so on until last place gets 1 point so at least they simplified it a little bit. that also proves what i was talking about, how NASCAR is listening to the fans and changing for them but everyone still gives them crap.
@DrwMrchnt3 haha yup. i was following jimmie johnson wen he was still in the SCORE circuit, and was excited as hell wen i found out he was racing in cup cars
@AndrizzleCheck; tell me about it !!! I loved the #48 Crash at the Coke 600 last Sunday !! It just made my day !!! I LOVE Jeff Gordon & I love the fact that he's not taking any shit off Jimmie this year !! And now, it's time for the #48 bunch to just GO AWAY !!! I'd rather see Kyle Busch win rrather than JJ !!!!
I love them more than any other network but Darrell and Larry try to call so many situations before they ever go down, and they are almost always wrong.
Boy when I see finishes like these it makes me really this those Gen 4 cars. They were phenomenal cars that just created exciting finishes on all types of tracks. I like the Gen 6 cars, but I’m sorry, they’re nothing compared to the Gen 4s.
And this is a great example of how drivers fade and do it fast once the money starts stacking up. The promise this guy showed us all back then..now nothing.
Roush has gone down hill..but theyve NEVER been too good to begin with. A driver doesnt show up and run in the top 3 week after week and SHOWING great driving ability to barely a 15th place car maybe tenth now. Its a proven fact that once professional drivers make it they slack.off after 5 years..even the best do it and Carl certainly IS NOT. Look at kenseth..came in looked like the next star..won a tittle..then started slipping more and more..he goes to gibbs and suddenly he's great again..the next year slacking. You should better educate yourself further than the usual coach potato nascar fan that THINKS they understand it. Once a driver doesnt feel the need to prove themself they stop.giving 100%..and only a select few have the true drive it takes to stay hungry every race every year WITHOUT making excuses of why theyre not performing like they once did.
You make a good point but Roush Cars are compete shit right now I mean Stenhouse wants to prove himself but his car is garbage so I don't think your entirely corrsct
I'm not a fan of Carl Edwards, but I've got a major feeling that he's going to revive his career this year. He's a hell of a driver with a great team behind him now that he has moved to Joe Gibbs Racing. Trust me. :-)
Jack Johnson Roush has never been the same since Ford went to the Fusion from the Taurus. Roush Racing was a beast with the old Tauruses- in 8 years driving that car, a Roush driver finished no worse than third in the final standings save for 2001. And of course, don't forget Mark Martin's success (And Jeff Burton's breakout 1997) in the old Thunderbirds.
People are gonna get mad about my Sr comment. Sr never won 3 straight! I respected Sr but wasn't really a fan of him. He was great and shaped nascar and will go down as one of the greatest in history ever! I do believe if Johnson and Knaus stay together they can win more than 7! Even other drivers in the garage say if things have gone right and they had some luck..this would be 5 in a row. 48 has never finished worst than 5th in the points and finished 2nd twice..once by 8 points! 48!48!48
lydiascats this video makes me smile too but i disagree with you too. If any hendrick driver beat one of them Roush boys I'd be pist! Go Carl and Roush Fenway at Hotlanta this weekend! -Roush fan forever
Chris it had NOTHING to do with the decal on the car "taurus" or "fusion"...its all about the motor and car under it. Racing is all about constantly improving and staying ahead of the competition. The moment you dont you end up in theyre position..they simply have not dont theyre homework. Next years car could say "apalo 13" with a defferent design but it wont matter if whats important isnt there. Theyre engine departmeant mainly needs to step it up..and not to mention theyre arsonal of drivers is very poor right now.
Chris I can tell by your lack of real world experience in racing that its not worth me explaining the logistics and reality of it. If you wer more in depth into racing you would understand how things work better..a better grasp of what goes on behind your tv screen. How did kenseth with gibbs go from 7 wins two years ago to barely 1 the next.
Guys, RELAX!!! Have you ever considered the fact that maybe there's more than one great team out there? Neither Roush nor Hendrick "suck", so please just calm down.
Is it just me or were the top drivers less prima-donnas here? Edwards has gotten an ego now, this was before Johnson won 5 CHASE seasons in a row and started to believe he's invincible...I dunno. Compared to how things are now, it just seems that the drivers had a less inflated view of themselves back then. And this wasn't that long ago.
Just realized this. But scraping the wall with 3 to go won him this race!! Hitting the wall can sometimes help the handling of the racecar. Kyle Busch is the best at it. Hitting the wall won Carl the race!
@smd4life Carl Fucking Eddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You mean Ford is the shyt! FR9 is what it's all about now! Carl Edwards should have 4 wins this year already in Sprint cup. He is gonna dominate!!!
Two things 1. The old vegas and atlanta are nothing alike. Vegas used to be very flat. 2. Carl did awful that race. He ran about 15th to 20th all race long.
@DrgnFly0101 we now have a showoff/wussie/crybaby who has to enter every race, and have the 11, 18 and 20 winning all the time, and they complain as well when things don't go their way.
jimmie johnson surpasses any racer even carl edwards i mean three championships three years in a row and all the races and championships won by roush driversare sheer dumb luck over hendrick motorsports an example of this was kurt busch at homestead at the last race of the season 2002 when he was with roush fenway racing.
The moment Roush knew he had hit a gold mine.
i freakin love it when DW, Larry Mac and Mike Joy all get into the race in the closing laps.
By brother and I share a rivalry in Nascar. He liked Johnson the best and I like Edwards the best, so watching this with him made my day :)
This was the race that made me a Nascar fan. Man that was a great finish. Go Carl.
Damn, that was a great piece of driving.
Man, that was an effing RACE! Look how much dust Carl kicked up running the way-high groove off turn four that last time!
Never was a huge Edwards fan but he was such a wheelman. I miss him racing.
One of the best races ever, Carl is a wheelman!
One of the best finishes ever. Carl Edwards, that BAD MAN.
I love how Jack sits with whatever one of his teams is winning!!! Its great!!!
this is a great finish, got this on tape
Gonna miss Carl
i feel very lucky to have witnessed this spectacular win on live tv carl has his weird ways but like DW said "thats the man"
man, i love those Atlanta finishes. i have been to races at fontana, phoenix, sonoma and las vegas. i have to go to Atlanta this year.
Back when roush had a winning team
+NissanTy Both Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle gave Tony Stewart a run for his money at the championship. Mark Martin was still around, too. That was probably a huge role in Roush.
Back then when NASCAR was worth watching every Sunday
anyone who puts Jimmie Johnson in 2nd place is a good driver to me
come back Carl! we miss you.....
Great race call!!!! So underrated
Omigosh Edwards is my favorite driver of all time. C'mon lets see that happen tomorrow at Phoenix!! We want to see that backflip!!!!!!
This was back when there was still real racing in NASCAR. This kind of racing and pass would never happen on any track today, except maybe one of the plate tracks. NASCAR is a shell of what it used to be.
I was right in front of them when they touched, that day was weird because it started off sunny and ended in heavy cloud cover.
im getting pissed about all the people saying that nascar sucks now and how the c.o.t has ruined it. in case you missed it, 2010 was the best season in a long time. there were good finishes, good rivalries and fights and a good chase for the title. it has been a great year for nascar and everybody still says it sucks. nascar is trying to make it better. they have been working on the cars and tweaking the rules to make it better and it is working.
great finish
I remember this race!
I was at this race back .
Anyone else still shocked he’s not racing anymore?I felt like he was a year away from a Jimmie Johnson like championship run. Then suddenly retires.
That bullshit at Homestead 2016 will do that to you.
I remember when DW Said Edwards was sliding around and that he shouldn't wreck a good finish and let Biffle go. I looked at my dad and said no way, Carl will get Johnson you watch.
I had Jimmy Johnson in my pool at work that race. but you know what, loosing the pool in exchange for seeing some driving like that..... good trade
Cool cool finish!!!
Why is the Front of Labonte's car gray?
I had J.Johnson inthe NASCAR pool at work and thought I had the win but you know what? I'd rather see a great race like that than take the pool. thats when I started following him. Even after the Atlanta (Keselowski ) incident this weekend, i still admire him. You give him shit, he gives it right back 10 fold
10th comment, 26th rating, 2,336 view. Great race and speactucalr finish. Im a 24 fan and i hate Johnson so to see Edwards win was awesome.
Where's the left rear tire?
What are you talking about? This was '05, before he won his first Chase Champ. Nobody gave two craps about Johnson.
i could not set down what a race
not the closest finish but the most exiting for sure
damn that was soooooosweet
before the COT
Edwards is still my favorite driver no matter how many guys he wrecks in a season! He's got more balls than any other driver!
This was a great race, but who has all 6 championships :P Odd to see the #25 as hendricks again too :)
This was back when Jimme Johnson was like Kyle Busch When I saw the race I thougt it was the best moment ever
I hope you re-thinked that after the 2011 chase :P
6th comment, 384th view. lol.
I was cheering so hard for carl to win this. i can't believe he actually pulled it off on the outside in the end.
You have to give Carl a lot of credit, he had a very loose car and at the final lap, he caught up to Johnson and passed him at the front stretch, and you gotta give Jack Roush a lot of credit too, in the 2004 season, the 99 team had not a lot of sponsorship, and was about to abandon the 99 car next year, good thing he didn't, grat job for Carl in that race, i have a feeling that he'll win a championship sometime in his career
wrong
Ford baby...yeah!!!!!
You know I think that is the only burn out Carl has ever done.
I enjoyed any race that JJ or JG didn't win! This one especially.
"We'll just pan the fire suit.." Lol.
God that screaming that starts at 4:48 is driving me insane.
anybody but johnson!
I was at that race
@DrwMrchnt3 haha yup. i was following jimmie johnson wen he was still in the SCORE circuit, and was excited as hell wen i found out he was racing in cup cars
That when racing was good with good 5 lug nut tires, paint schemes and good cars. Not like the cars they have now.
What does that even mean?
Atlanta Magic.
@AndrizzleCheck; tell me about it !!! I loved the #48 Crash at the Coke 600 last Sunday !! It just made my day !!! Naw, gonna have to say Smoke is the most fearless.. im not a Smoke fan, just decade of experiencing him lol
They say that 03 race at Darlington was the best between the 97 and 32 I disagree this one by far is the best finish in nascar
My 2nd favorite race/finish of the 2005 season. I only liked the Daytona 500 better.
11 people wanted Carl to do a front flip.
um he wons a few cup races made the chase and dominated the busch series title this year.
@smd4life . can u say "BANKRUPT"?????
Wheel Of Fortune Gag
the day i became an edwards fan.....
I ment mascarbrown is lucky, cause he went to all those races
Boy when I see finishes like these it makes me really this those Gen 4 cars. They were phenomenal cars that just created exciting finishes on all types of tracks. I like the Gen 6 cars, but I’m sorry, they’re nothing compared to the Gen 4s.

This is a really dumb comment. Hes still a winning driver when he was with a organization in freefall.
Roush has gone down hill..but theyve NEVER been too good to begin with. its a new front end.
Jimmie should of used the high line around 3 and 4 so to let carl use the bottom....
lydiascats this video makes me smile too but i disagree with you too. If any hendrick driver beat one of them Roush boys I'd be pist! Go Carl and Roush Fenway at Hotlanta this weekend! -Roush fan forever
Atlanta is one of the most boring tracks in NASCAR ever since they reconfigured in 1997, but you can't deny it has had some great finishes.
Carl is awesome, so if Jimmie.
Always good to see a true winner beat a true cheater!
jim nelson I enjoyed watching Jimmie win his 7th championship😆
steve larass you seem triggered snowflake
@bgboys89 Very good race
i agree it's fucking fixed for Chevrolet. When was the last Chevreolet off year? I can't even remember! 15 years 20?!
Gforcebond this year it is lol

Feel like Jimmie learned from this to beat Labonte at Charlotte…
most exciting? better then craven busch at darlington? mcmurray and kyle busch daytona? harvick martin daytona?
ya they broke up. now he's going out with Kate... something.
It probably means someone came in my office and played with my computer again. (Which they should not do.
danica patrick!!! haha
I loveee that kid below me :) hahaha
GO JR !!!! LOL
Just realized this. But scraping the wall with 3 to go won him this race!! Hitting the wall can sometimes help the handling of the racecar. Kyle Busch is the best at it. Hitting the wall won Carl the race!

"He'd better let Biffle go." Wtf?
@zzremington thats funny...i call them government motors..ha ha
carl is gonig to break his neck doing that on day
@DrgnFly0101 we now have a showoff/wussie/crybaby who has to enter every race, and have the 11, 18 and 20 winning all the time, and they complain as well when things don't go their way.
Greg
Carl
Matt
Though Carl lost some points and Dega.
Carls mommy is hot..what a cougar!!
