I really appreciate honesty of dr. Jason Fung videos. I believe he should get Nobel prize for popularization of methods to reverse diabetes and obesity, major maladies of our times.
He a good doc but he ain’t fighting the good fight. That’s a quote from the Holy Bible, in regards to Faith /faithful / - however Jason believes in the Big Bang that we the earth and every living creature tree bush herb flowers fish birds all derived and or evolved from single cell lol. That’s a bigger fairytale than anything I’ve ever read in holy Bible. Even a cardboard box has a designer. So why wouldn’t you.
I couldn’t lose any weight . It just kept going up. I started listening to Dr Fung and I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks . Now starting intermittent fasting .checking my blood sugar and , ketones, and hgba1c . I have hope to reverse my pre diabetes! Ty! ❤️
He's an amazing communicator! Some of the many benefits of fasting and a lower carb whole food diet on the immune system, blood pressure, blood sugar and anti-aging, all backed up by clinical data: The hunger hormone ghrelin lowers over time with extended fasting and rise from dieting Thymus stem cells are regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system. Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria and viruses by the immune system. Blood pressure is quickly and dramatically lowered, which is very important for a good outcome with the current pandemic. Fasting increases nitric oxide, which has manifold postive effects like reducing arterial plaque. Weight loss from fasting only loses10% lean tissue and 90% fat compared to the typical 25% lean tissue and 75% fat lost when calorically restricting for long periods. Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. Vitamin D plasma levels are increased, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy! Blood sugar and insulin are lowered, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Ideal blood sugar is around 80. Some viruses activate glycolosis (the release of sugar in the body) and clinically it has been shown that decreasing glucose metabolism in the body weakens the influenza virus. Fasts of several days will not affect short term female fertility and may increase long term fertility especially in women with PCOS. It's absolutely fine for cortisol to be high while fasting, because it produces sugar from fat instead of lean tissue ruclips.net/video/giEDadzoErs/видео.html Does the body prefernetially prefer glucose as a fuel? No, it never uses mainly glucose for fuel and using glucose for fuel is very biochemically damaging! ruclips.net/video/Nf1jwMbvNxw/видео.html The hormone Leptin is an immunomodulator that keeps the body from attacking itself and obesity causes leptin resistance. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance and leptin levels and one day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again! Is fasting just the same as caloric restriction? No! Dieting increases the hunger hormone ghrelin while fasting decreases it and has many other health benefits! ruclips.net/video/sVl-nilhWLc/видео.html When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins. This means the mechanisms needed by viruses to replicate are by and large unavailable when you are in a deeply fasted state. It stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells. AMPK does many helpful things in the body including activating the body's antioxidant defenses. Does fasting burn muscle? In most cases no! ruclips.net/video/teQIaU6wp2o/видео.html Fasting can make you gain muscle faster: ruclips.net/video/5RM8GRzsIIg/видео.html Deep ketosis virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. This can offset the life threatening symptoms of viral pneumonia which effectively kills you through inflammation. This also creates BHB ketones in your body, which also help your immune system and anti-oxidative system, especially in the brain. Ketones also provide an additional energy source during infection, which is critical when trying to fight off a bug. In fact you can have as much as three times the total energy available in your blood when you are in deep ketosis, or even more. It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency and thereby making cells better able to fight off infection. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism and cancer prevention! Fasts from 36-96 h actually INCREASE metabolic rate! ruclips.net/video/BeC_gIR2Z14/видео.html Your body releases interferon which is also triggered by the body during viral attacks to shut down the replication ability of the surrounding cells and stop infections. After 72 hours or more fasted, your body actually recycles large numbers of immune bodies and creates new ones, rejuvenating your entire system. When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells. This kills these cells off completely. Senescent cells are responsible for the effects of aging and are the root cause of the development of cancer. If it were possible to destroy them all it would completely stop aging and cancer. That is not possible but fasting can help limit these effects by killing off many of the affected cells and limiting the future effects of aging. Fasting also releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth, helping a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers. In fact, the biochemical regulator of BDNF production is beta-hydroxybutyrate, which is the same ketone the body produces to nourish the brain while fasting. Autophagy induced by fasting even helps hair regrow. What breaks a fast? ruclips.net/video/7aRLsCpxy3o/видео.html Dieters losing weight through intermittent fasting show greater reduction in waist size and increase in insulin sensitivity for the same weight lost and alternate day fasters were shown to lose fat while gaining muscle at the same time over a six month period. Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it and builds muscle! ruclips.net/video/fJUDucBWv4s/видео.html Fasting has been shown to increase bone marrow volume by 10% and levels of carnosine in the body in as little as a few weeks. Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level. Eating one meal a day can bring most of these benefits to a lesser degree, and adding a few entire days off from eating per week will have even more effect especially when starting to feel poorly. Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. Those with Addison's disease may also be unable to fast without liberal use of exogenous ketones, depending on severity. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness then simply break the fast and seek advice. ..I like how Dr. Fung conducts the lecture while wearing his stethoscope....like he just saw some patients....then stopped in to drop some knowledge...like a boss 😂
Jason Fung you look so young, just like below 30. You changed my life, ever since I saw your videos, I have been doing Intermittent fasting, and lost so much weight. I never feel hungry and first time I am feeling well inside out.
Thank you for the information and I am trying hard to follow and l like to share with others. GOD WILL BLESS YOU IN JESUS NAME. DENNIS IS PRAYING AND VERY HELPFUL THANKS AGAIN.
Dr Fung, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have been battling insulin resistance for so, so many years. I have been on so many insulins and such high dosages...long lasting 160 u divided in morning and night and rapid 15-20 u 4 times a day and gaining weight like crazy. Have been fighting with one Endocrinologist or another for at least 10 years. In Australia of 2018 I had several seizures and in trauma unit at a hospital and my blood sugars were 31 on all the insulin and metformin I was on. The hospital did not have the long lasting insulin I was taking and for 3 days I didn’t eat much and only got very low dosages of rapid insulin and my levels dropped to 5.6-9.5. I know it’s still high but better than 31 and I had been running into the 20-30 for several month at that point. I have been watching your videos and have been keeping my diet and intermittent fasting as you are describing and stoped taking the long lasting insulin and only very low doses of rapid, 2-5u if I get over 10. I haven’t needed any insulin for the last few days, I feel lighter and definitely better. Thank you so very much and will keep you posted. Gd bless you. Marina Pacheco - mach2262@gmail.com
That's really awesome Marina! Isn't it great what you learn by "accident"? Most people are afraid to stop insulin because of Drs that don't want you to find out how to get better. Big pharma is big business. I hope you're doing well.
Dr. Jason Fung is the new hero of our time ! His wisdom, knowledge and courage to tell the truth in our society full of lies and driven by money, are the new breath we so desperately needed. Thank you again Doctor.
+Eugénie O'Mey (The Voice) I agree....he was the first person I found after I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic a little over a year ago....I was eating the way the doctor told me...and checking my BG...and just kept thinking...this cant be right...this cant be the best way to do this.......then I started researching and found Dr. Fung...I started strickly controlling my carb intake and started fasting....and now...all is good in the hood......smile..
Most doctors don't want us well. There's no money in it. It's refreshing to see someone bucking the system. I can't imagine you're popular with the AMA, however.
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:14 🍽️ *Hormonal impact on obesity: Insulin's role in obesity is crucial; high insulin levels drive weight gain. Refined carbohydrates spike insulin, leading to weight gain, but high insulin levels can develop insulin resistance, creating a cycle independent of food intake.* 02:58 📘 *Low carbohydrate diets' history: Low carb diets have existed since the 1930s. Dr. Atkins didn't invent it but popularized it due to personal success. These diets contrasted traditional low-fat recommendations from institutions like the American Heart Association.* 07:49 🥗 *Low carb diet efficacy: Studies (2003, 2007) consistently showed better short-term weight loss on Atkins-style diets compared to low-fat diets. Atkins diets also exhibited improved cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure markers.* 13:28 💪 *Sustaining weight loss: High protein, low glycemic index diets showed potential for maintaining weight loss post initial loss. Fattening carbohydrates impact both initial and long-term weight loss.* 16:08 🔄 *Energy expenditure impact: Low-fat diets significantly reduce energy expenditure post-weight loss, potentially leading to weight regain. Very low carbohydrate diets displayed the least reduction in energy expenditure.* 18:27 🍳 *Dietary myths debunked: Eating fat does not inherently lead to fat gain, and dietary cholesterol doesn't directly raise cholesterol levels. High-fat diets, despite cholesterol content, showed better cholesterol profiles than low-fat diets.* 21:31 🚫 *Impact of low-fat diets: Traditional low-fat diets recommended by institutions resulted in worse metabolic syndrome markers (abdominal obesity, high triglycerides, low HDL cholesterol, high blood pressure, and sugars).* 22:14 🔑 *Role of insulin resistance: Insulin resistance is crucial in the development of metabolic syndrome, affecting various health markers. Different diets' impact might depend on insulin resistance levels.* 23:22 🍽️ *Different diets impact insulin sensitivity differently: Insulin-sensitive individuals showed no difference between low-fat and low glycemic load diets, but insulin-resistant individuals fared better on low-carbohydrate diets.* 24:03 🍔 *Dietary fat doesn't raise triglyceride levels: Eating fat doesn't increase triglycerides because the body reduces its own production of triglycerides when consuming dietary fat, contrary to assumptions.* 25:14 🦆 *Carbohydrates stimulate fat production in the liver: Refined carbohydrates activate the production of triglycerides, leading to fatty liver accumulation, a significant cause of liver failure.* 26:21 🧪 *Hormonal obesity theory encompasses multiple health issues: Obesity, high triglycerides, low good cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, and fatty liver are part of the insulin resistance syndrome.* 27:28 🥤 *Initial weight loss on low-carb diets is water loss: Lowering insulin levels by consuming fewer refined carbs leads to shedding excess water weight, reducing edema and possibly blood pressure.* 28:55 🍖 *High protein diets' impact on kidneys: High protein diets in healthy individuals showed no significant negative effects on kidneys, but caution might be needed for kidney patients.* 30:06 🌾 *Essential nutrients in refined grains are minimal: Refined grains lack essential nutrients, needing fortification, unlike proteins and vegetables that contain essential nutrients.* 32:35 🍪 *Refined carbohydrates might be addictive: Functional MRI studies suggest that refined carbohydrates like sugars and flours might bypass natural satiety signals, leading to potential addiction.* 37:09 🥗 *Natural unrefined foods reduce overeating: It's challenging to overeat natural unrefined foods, leading to reduced calorie intake without explicit restrictions.* 38:30 🍛 *Carbohydrate restriction leads to decreased calorie intake and improved insulin sensitivity: A strict low-carb diet led to reduced calorie consumption and improved insulin sensitivity without calorie restrictions.* 39:40 📉 *Long-term effectiveness of low-carb diets: Low-carb diets showed short-term weight loss, but over time, the weight loss wasn't as significant as expected.* 41:00 📊 *Protein's effect on insulin: Both carbohydrates and proteins, especially dairy proteins, can raise insulin levels, affecting weight gain, even though they might not significantly raise blood sugar levels.* 45:49 🥛 *Dairy proteins significantly raise insulin: Dairy proteins like milk and whey protein raise insulin levels more than some carbohydrate-rich foods, potentially impacting weight gain and insulin resistance.* [46:59 URL] *🐟 There's a correlation between fish intake and diabetes incidence, suggesting a slightly higher risk associated with eating fish due to increased insulin levels.* [48:09 URL] *🍟 Weight gain tends to be linked with foods like potato chips, french fries, and unprocessed red meat, as they raise insulin levels significantly.* [49:31 URL] *🥖 Whole grains and fruits show a protective effect against weight gain and diabetes due to their fiber content, which reduces insulin levels.* [50:12 URL] *🍽️ Most foods consumed raise insulin levels, with meat, eggs, sweeteners, flour, sugar, dairy, and added fats contributing substantially, while fruits and vegetables only constitute 8% of the diet, being less insulinogenic.* [51:45 URL] *🍽️ Hunger is mediated by hormones like ghrelin, CCK, insulin, and leptin, dispelling the myth that constant hunger is necessary for weight loss.* [53:22 URL] *🧠 Leptin, produced by fat cells, signals the brain to stop eating, but high insulin levels can cause leptin resistance, hindering its effectiveness in regulating weight.* [55:40 URL] *🌪️ Cortisol, known as the stress hormone, contributes to weight gain by increasing blood sugar levels and breaking down muscle tissues.* [56:23 URL] *🧘♀️ Methods to reduce cortisol levels include stress-reduction techniques like yoga, meditation, massage, and adequate sleep, which can positively impact weight loss.* [57:30 URL] *💤 Sleep plays a crucial role in weight regulation; sleep deprivation leads to increased hunger hormones, decreased satiety hormones, and a higher risk of weight gain and insulin resistance.* [01:02:46 URL] *🥦 Emphasizing unrefined, natural foods like vegetables, fruits, nuts, and berries in the diet is recommended, avoiding highly refined carbohydrates and sugars.* [01:05:02 URL] *🍎 Apple cider vinegar has been observed to improve insulin sensitivity, reduce blood sugar spikes, increase satiety, and potentially contribute to weight loss when consumed with meals.* [01:08:25 URL] *🫒 Vinegar, particularly oil and vinegar dressings, may have a protective effect on heart health by reducing the incidence of coronary artery disease, possibly linked to its impact on insulin levels.* 01:09:19 🥗 *Doctors' lack of nutrition training: Despite lip service to nutrition, doctors receive minimal training in nutrition during medical education, leading to a knowledge gap that persists throughout their careers.* 01:10:59 💊 *Medical focus on drugs: Medical professionals often prioritize pharmaceuticals over lifestyle changes when addressing conditions like obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.* 01:13:04 🚫 *Risks of obesity treatments: Some medical solutions for obesity, like certain drugs and weight-loss surgeries, pose severe risks such as fecal leakage, organ toxicity, and increased heart attack rates.* 01:14:12 💰 *Influence of industry in medical guidance: Some medical advice and articles, even in prestigious journals, can be influenced by financial ties to industries promoting pharmaceuticals, meal replacement shakes, and fast food companies.* 01:16:01 🍔 *Industry influence on nutritional education: Industry players often sponsor nutritional education programs, influencing the information dietitians receive and subsequently convey to the public.* 01:18:45 🛒 *Trust in oneself: Encouragement to rely on personal judgment and discernment regarding nutritional information, considering the multitude of conflicting influences and messages.*
FYI: Re the cholesterol scam from the statin makers. My sister's M-I-L has cholesterol in the 500's!!! She is now 102, lives alone in her own home, and is as sharp as a tack. No one should be on statins, especially the elderly!
Yay...bring on the shrimp and eggs! I always knew that what they said about that was BS....I have metabolic syndrome. Trying to lose weight has been a joke. I will concentrate on good proteins, vegetables and lots of fiber (psyllium husks in water). I also have a fatty liver, and its good for me to know that eating fat doesn't make any difference. Carbs are the danger. Thanks for the great info Jason!
The only problem...animal protein has definitely been linked to more cancer. Dr Longo (another favorite) recommends low protein, plant based diet with fish once or twice a week. He does cancer/longevity studies with mice and researches thousands of other's studies with animals and people.
@@LTPottenger You have not paid enough attention to this video. Eating fiber will slow down the absorption of sugar, therefore reducing the insulin spike and lower the insulin resistance, both are great for your health! Adding to his, fiber will also help telling your brain that you are full for longer, therefore reducing hunger and the risk of overeating.
@@MT-sq3jo As I said already that's not true. Fiber supplements DO NOTHING as is proven again and again in studies. The only benefit is when you have say a whole fruit. But you should avoid sugary fruit anyway. It's all con artistry.
As always, amazing. I enjoyed a lot the last part of this session peculiarly because it highlights the economic-political factors that not only contribute to our flailing health but to the prostitution of scientific knowledge in the interest of corporate capital. It really makes you question if the health of the citizens has ever been the primary concern of these dietary guidelines or just the interest of sugar producing/dependent companies. Thank you so much Dr. Fung for making all this info available. Cheers from Mexico City!
Good to know who is getting paid off by the corporations at the same time publishing articles in the medical journals selling drugs, shakes and meal replacements along with surgery. The heart association and diabetes association sponsors are questionable to say the least and the information they are providing is totally skewed and biased. keep going Jason ... this is the best educational video on the web to date.
Yeah, it's pretty sickening how much doctors are paid despite having very little knowledge except for drug prescription. The stereotype of the uncaring doctor who doesn't listen is based in reality. It's doctors like Dr. Fung who actually use their brain and critical thinking skills to do further research into the truth, as well as who exactly is paying off the unethical doctors (99% of doctors, tbh) to slowly kill their patients while blaming their patients for it. McDonald's, beer companies, Coca Cola, they all pay "doctors" to push their products... And there's this toxic mentality of ignorant people who say, "You know nothing, and your doctor knows everything because they did 8 years of medical school + residency," not realizing that it's the pharmaceutical companies who fund the schools and continue to bribe prominent doctors, fund studies deliberately skewed in their favor, etc. The same cohort of people who can't be bothered to examine what they're saying to see whether or not it's really the truth. I am so thankful to Dr. Fung for reviving this very ancient practice of "fasting and nutritious food" and really marrying it with the science that explains the processes as we understand them.
Regular IF, low carb, meditation and regular exercise is the way to go. I got rid of all my diabetes meds and feel great. I looked younger than myself 10 years ago. The medical community need to listen to this man and help their patients instead of killing them slowly with meds.
I agree. Had a hemmorhagic stroke and basically did the above and eliminated sugar and processed foods and have not been sick, sleep far better, lost my lifelong allergies, no longer snore, no more joint aches and lost my mood swings. Tell that to a doctor and they'll tell you you're wrong and try to prescribe drugs. Big profit for pharma and themselves is the goal, not your health, period.
Dr Fung is truly the bridge between Vegan and Paleo communities. He recommends LCHF, but in the lecture he talks about how whole grain-fruit-vegetables are most effective in terms of insulin effect of food. Let's all pick a side, and 'IF' our way to good health. Take that big pharma!
If you listen carefully he recommends high dietary fat and protein aka eating meat. This is logical, because protein protects muscle mass and muscle mass is the key factor to keeping your metabolic rate higher . Veganism isn't the best way to achieve this, you are just nitpicking what you want to hear.
You don't get healthy by eating magic foods like vegans will try to tell you. You just get healthy from avoiding bad ones like processed carbs and getting enough vitamins and EPA and DHA and protein in the diet. The vegan diet fails on the last part. You can eat 90% plants but you have to have some animal products to be healthy. If you are t2 diabetic then you should not eat any 'healthy' carbs either until it reverses.
Berg is frankly a quack. Chiropractors aren't even allowed to use the predicate 'Dr' in many countries (like most European countries), and rightfully so. They aren't doctors any more than your average witch doctor. Dr. Fung however, knows his stuff, and is great at what he does.
I'm a doctor in Algeria, and all the information they give us is old dead things that they are over and expired I try my best to auto-éducation my self so i would give my best to my patients .. What really hurts that if you try to say these new things to an older professor or les collègues they would laugh at you and even get may get punished 😭
@@BeautifulGood713 Not if you work your way up to it. But I stopped at 85%. And now that tastes like normal dark choc to me. And I like that I am paying for cacao and not sugar. But if I am feeling like I need more of a treat I eat it with a teaspoon of raisins for sweetness.
Watching these lectures and learning so much, and yet, commercials keep coming on for McDonald's, Cheese puffs, and all sorts of horrible junk foods. Do you suppose that was planned to derail anyone who might be paying attention?
I did Atkins for three months 50 years ago and lost 55 pounds. Like Dr. Fung said, the "eating plan" has been around long before Dr. Atkins popularized it. Earlier versions were called the "Air Force Diet" because it was used by pilots to lose weight for their jobs. It has a long history of success. The medical haters who couldn't stand Dr. Atkins' fame and fortune which came from helping people, failed to realize that the general public isn't as stupid as they want them to be. In my case, while on the low carb diet ( because Dr. Atkins really didn't discover it), I ate moderate amounts of lean meat, primarily baked chicken and fish, rarely any red meat at all, with lots of green vegetables like salads, green beans, broccoli, and asparagus. That fiber fills you up. The Atkins diet didn't push high fat. All those ASSumptions were just not true, just like the ASSumption that grains and dairy are necessary for a balanced diet. NOT! I'm lactose intolerant, so I stuck to lean meat and green vegetables with little fat. As for gaining it all back, it doesn't have to happen. I've gained back 20 of the 55 lbs lost over a fifty year period, primarily from not being serious enough. Just go with what works. Never mind what other people try to tell you, including the Pharma driven AMA haters.
teflo2 good job, though high fat, when vegetable oils and trans fat are eliminated, is actually good. Cholesterol is not a bad thing, the body produces it for a reason.
Ive just been diagnosed with diabetes and im hoping I've finally found the answer in these videos. Been obese my entire life and spent fortunes on fad diets and low fat, sugar laden foods which have all kept me trapped in the cycle. Really want to turn things around and reclaim my health

Gave us wrong advice ( Iwrote auto correct changed to nonsence!) Starved for nothing all those years. I could HAVE been enjoying steak, broccoli, bacon, sausage, AVACADOS! salads and lost weight the easier way! Liars Drs!
10yrs ago 😱 wow Anyway I'm saving so much money from doing omad,36 hr fast 16 8 and my ability to consume a big sum of at a go has shrunk. The point is I'm in a good health and I'm saving money.
Thank you Dr Jason Fung I now know why I can not loose weight no matter how hard I tried. I am now following your advise and I am making great progress. You are my hero
So... unprocessed meat (high protein, low carb) is gonna be associated with insulin resistance, but fruit (high carb and high fiber) isn't? On the other hand a heavy carb diet is not ideal, and there's also the fact that meats also tend to be very nutritious. How do you strike a balance? Maybe just give an example of a balanced diet focused on reverting/preventing insulin resistance? Or is fasting/time-restricted-eating the dominant factor where it comes to insulin resistance?
Protein only raises insulin if you already have insulin from carbs, if you don't have blood glucose you need the gluconeogenesis to keep your blood sugar from crashing.
On fiber - Dr. Paul Mason gave this interesting talk on Fiber at a Low Carb conference: ruclips.net/video/xqUO4P9ADI0/видео.html In short, humans have no need for fiber. Humans cannot digest plant fiber. Plant fiber can cause problems, especially if eaten in quantity. It may provide a bit of a buffer to slow the absorption of other nutrients, like soluble carbohydrates, aka sugars, but otherwise the role of fiber in human health appears to have been overestimated.
hi guys, interested in diabetes the best results that I have ever had is called the Diabetes Crusher Tactic (just google it) without a doubt the most incredible website i've tried.
Thank you for your bravery, your integrity, and your initiative to kill the sacred cow of the the traditionally accepted AHA diet. You are a true leader among your peers! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you so much Dr. Fung!!! Your videos saved me with my pre diabetes! I love this presentation. You're the first Doctor who connected all dots and got into the TRUE core of the problem. I am very grateful! Thank you for your amazing work! 🙏🏻
I was diagnosed with macular degeneration. I read studies that said vegtable oils because of omega 6 cause macular degeneration. Please do a dhow on your thoughts regarding this.
I think Dr Fung is a brilliant in his strategy about weight loss.I was 280 pounds and my current weight is 180 pounds. I’m keeping my weight off and enjoy fasting and I learned that fasting can help you control your food cravings and help fight against certain disease.
You are wonderful Dr. Jason Fung, I have all your books on my kindle, and by following your: Intermittent fasting (16:8) I lost 30lbs in @two months; lots of water, walking, lots of green tea, and black coffee, absolutely no food after 19:55 hrs!
The Atkin diet was very effective. What happened is that it became commercialize in fast food market place. The Akin bars and snacks are NOT complient with Dr Atkins first book. That is why Atkins does not work. The same is true with Keto. There are now high carb foods in the market place that claim to be Keto. People start binging on Keto bread then they fail....just like all other diets. The market place is just trying to make a buck.
You are amazing Dr. Thank you so much I’m one of the blessed with your lecture... And talking for an hour but never drink water, haven’t experience dry throat despite of long hour talking. God bless you more.
Blood glucose testing shows that many people to react with significant spikes in their blood sugar levels to whole, 'natural' foods like potatoes, onions, and 'whole grains' (which seldom really are), or even carrots. It can be helpful for people to test their individual responses to these, and other foods - even the 'whole, natural' foods. Ditto for many fruits, especially the Cavendish dessert banana which is the only one Americans know, and grapes. Of course, these - and most fruits offered today in supermarkets - are very different from their wild ancestors. Low sugar berries are more like their wild ancestors, like blueberries and blackberries, but may also contain high levels of oxalates...
I never eat more than 5 pounds of sugar a day. Just joking but Dr. Fung is correct I could eat ice cream all day and my friend told me to enter an ice cream eating contest because it never fills me up!
It worked for my husband. He lost 100 pounds and has kept it off for 4 years. He still always, and I do mean always eats this way. He can eat like a pig too.
Excellent work and research on your part, Dr. Fung! I have a question regarding fibre and fish oil supplements. On an intermittent fasting schedule, when is it best to take them?
I appreciate that dr #jasonfung post this videos and we can get the information. I just wish find somebody to let me know what should I eat with diabetes, insulin resistance of course, weight gain baaaaddd abdominal inflammation after eating and leaky gut. I wish I can find somebody that can tell me what to really eat. I end with sensitivity to egg (protein). The specialists told me what I have but nobody told me what to eat. I know sounds crazy but I need an education in what to eat without getting the inflammation or throwing out food. 😔
I've read both 'code' books and many, many hours of youtube videos. I'm SUPER interested in hearing everything he has to say. Having said that... that darned mic is REALLY distracting... Thank you, Dr Fung, for being so outspoken!
If Dr Astrup is Arne astrup from Denmark, then I see the problem. He was always controversial- defending sugar among others . I attended lectures from him when he was young mid 80 ies.Ambitious in a bad way.
What about elevated leptin caused by Graves’ disease and Hashimoto thyroiditis? What about leptin and menopause or oestrogen? What research has been carried out to understand leptin and fasting or loosing weight? Please advise.
As a physician, I’m not clear on the increase in insulin with only protein, with no carbohydrates. Or did the studies you showed not take into account any carbohydrates that were taken in with the protein.
Such a smart well meaning guy...his take on insulin as villain is perfect. However, there is nothing analogous in the way a low fat whole foods eater eats and the forced feeding of ducks. BTW note that the ducks have to be force fed. They would never, could never eat enough without that cruelty to develop fatty liver. Carbohydrates are not created equal and there is not enough emphasis that is is refined carbs that are problematic.
Thanks for the amazing videos. I have a question. The goal of the Food Pyramid was a healthy populace. The population had come out of epicdemic of infectious diseases. Infectious diseases being cured chiefly by lifestyle, industrial progress and meds. The unintended consequences of Food Pyramid was contributing to Chronic Diseases. One of which is obesity. Another which is heart disease (which Ornish was able to show not only prevention but heart disease reversal). Are you suggesting curing the obesity epidemic is a panacea for chronic diseases? Heart disease is the number killer of Americans. Drs. Ornish, Esstelyn, Campbell, Furhman have been addressing the number one killer of Americans as well as the other chronic diseases. Again thanks
Great videos with a lot of good information. However, Mr Fung does go some way to edit the facts to support his argument. 2 examples: initial weight loss in Atkins style diet is not simply due to fluid retention, it is more associated with water molecules held with liver and muscle glycogen. Also, when discussing the government plate model, Mr Fung describes the ‘grains’ element as refined grains, using white bread as the example. The image behind him clearly indicates whole-grains as oppose to refined grains - being a useful source of fibre, which, as mentioned in the previous slide, is useful in managing glycaemic response. I am not suggesting information is not accurate or useful, however, anybody that cherry picks the facts and evidence to support their case is a red flag for me.
Dr Fung. DOCTOR. The man is a nephrologist give credit where credit is due. 4 years undergrad for years med school and at least a 3 to 4 year Nephrology residency
Unrelated to the main topic, please don't eat foie gras. We eat meat, I eat meat, but we don't have to unnecessarily compound cruelty. Please don't eat a food that involves force feeding a living animal. The idea that this is somehow a delicacy obscene. You have to ask yourself if it's worth torturing a living creature for this delicacy. Likewise, eggs are great but try to buy pasture raised eggs. The hens live much better lives and the eggs are better nutritionally with more vitamin A, vitamin E and omega-3s in pasture raised eggs. Our diet has a significant imbalance in omega-3 versus omega-6 we don't get enough omega-3 and we get too much omega-6, pasture raised eggs are a good way to move in the right direction.
Now we feed cattle mostly corn and when you test it 80% of beef proteins test positive for corn. Could this be why your blood sugar goes up when you eat beef?
People who eat animal protein have higher incidents of Diabetes than those that don't. But what do people eat with meat? And what do people eat with their veggies?
Wow! NOW I clearly understand why I’m not losing weight! I’ve cut out all processed foods and have only been eating salmon and vegetables. MY INSULIN LEVELS ARE STILL HIGH BECAUSE OF THE PROTEIN!! From today on, I will eat cruciferous vegetables and olive oil to see what happens.
I have faithfully followed the HFLC diet, eating during an 8 hr window, fasting 16 hrs. I have started to lose wt, cut my insulin by 1/2 (from 45 u BID to 20 u BID). My BS levels have dropped a bit (from 330 to 299 or so). I am concerned about persistent high BS levels. How does one go about reducing insulin doses, and when will my pancreas start refunctioning? My doctor told me my pancreas is dead, and all she did was keep prescribing increasing doses of insulin. My gut tells me my pancreas is NOT dead. I am determined to stay with this eating plan FOREVER (eating right and fasting), but I feel if I keep taking exogenous insulin, my pancreas will never kick back in and start producing my own insulin. I feel alone and need encouragement.I am an RN, and all my friends oppose my plan.
If you don't eat carbohydrates, then you won't need as much insulin. Your blood sugar levels are only high because you are consuming carbohydrates. Dr Fung has protocols in his book about long periods of fasting. 4 days 7 days 14 days or even 28 days consuming only water, tea, black coffee or bone broth. and multivitamin everyday. + some salt If you're not eating consuming Sugars of any sort. you shouldn't need insulin. (ask your Doctor first but i'm pretty sure on that) Thus restoring your insulin sensitivity every time you fast and overtime decrease your dependence on exogenous insulin. Hope that helps.
I am so much educated watching your videos so far on the relevant subject, I have been loosing my weight, maintaining a good health condition at age 63. I am still working on your Advices. The results are so far so good. Thanks so much.

您的各种讲座让我受益匪浅,我已经开始轻断食好几个月了,从没有感觉如此好过。谢谢您!
Dr Fung, thanks so much for this series! Are you aware the video titles for chapter 2 and chapter 3 videos are switched?
Because if we all got well by diet, they wouldnt make MONEY OFF US!!!!!!!....sickening AND scary.
Thank you Dr. Fung for being there for US.
I really appreciate honesty of dr. Jason Fung videos. I believe he should get Nobel prize for popularization of methods to reverse diabetes and obesity, major maladies of our times.
He delivers the real news instead of the fake news about diabetes.
That would be awesome!
At the least a humanitarian award. He doesn't have to teach, he wants to. 🍃🌱
You're my hero, Dr. Fung! You are saving so many lives every day, including mine! Thank you for fighting the good fight!
Nobel prize to Jason fung👏👏
WOooooW. hats off to you sir🙏

Some of the many benefits of fasting and a lower carb whole food diet on the immune system, blood pressure, blood sugar and anti-aging, all backed up by clinical data:
The hunger hormone ghrelin lowers over time with extended fasting and rise from dieting
Thymus stem cells are regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system.
It's absolutely fine for cortisol to be high while fasting, because it produces sugar from fat instead of lean tissue ruclips.net/video/giEDadzoErs/видео.html
Does the body prefernetially prefer glucose as a fuel? No, it never uses mainly glucose for fuel and using glucose for fuel is very biochemically damaging! ruclips.net/video/Nf1jwMbvNxw/видео.html
The hormone Leptin is an immunomodulator that keeps the body from attacking itself and obesity causes leptin resistance. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance and leptin levels and one day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again!
Is fasting just the same as caloric restriction? No! Dieting increases the hunger hormone ghrelin while fasting decreases it and has many other health benefits! ruclips.net/video/sVl-nilhWLc/видео.html
When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins.
In most cases no! ruclips.net/video/teQIaU6wp2o/видео.html
Fasting can make you gain muscle faster: ruclips.net/video/5RM8GRzsIIg/видео.html
Deep ketosis virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body.
Fasts from 36-96 h actually INCREASE metabolic rate! ruclips.net/video/BeC_gIR2Z14/видео.html
Your body releases interferon which is also triggered by the body during viral attacks to shut down the replication ability of the surrounding cells and stop infections.
If it were possible to destroy them all it would completely stop aging and cancer. ..I like how Dr. Fung conducts the lecture while wearing his stethoscope....like he just saw some patients....then stopped in to drop some knowledge...like a boss 😂
He did just see some patients and he's going to see some more after. This is a lecture series for his colleagues during the day.
👍 I too was thinking why he is having the stethoscope!
Jason Fung you look so young, just like below 30. You changed my life, ever since I saw your videos, I have been doing Intermittent fasting, and lost so much weight. I never feel hungry and first time I am feeling well inside out.
He is Asian and therefore will likely look younger than a typical Westerner of the same age.
billytheweasel
That's because Asians have better diet habits.
@victoria except for his son who "is addicted to bread, cant get him away from it'
(Sounds like a typical americanized kid).
Thank you for the information and I am trying hard to follow and l like to share with others. GOD WILL BLESS YOU IN JESUS NAME. DENNIS IS PRAYING AND VERY HELPFUL THANKS AGAIN.
He was born in 1973 so he was 40 when this video was made. I'm almost 60 but I look at least 10 years younger. This way of eating really works.

There are tons of bullies and trolls on his Instagram page. Can only imagine how bad his PM box looks like... 😢
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:14 🍽️ *Hormonal impact on obesity: Insulin's role in obesity is crucial; high insulin levels drive weight gain. Refined carbohydrates spike insulin, leading to weight gain, but high insulin levels can develop insulin resistance, creating a cycle independent of food intake.*
02:58 📘 *Low carbohydrate diets' history: Low carb diets have existed since the 1930s. Dr. Atkins didn't invent it but popularized it due to personal success. These diets contrasted traditional low-fat recommendations from institutions like the American Heart Association.*
07:49 🥗 *Low carb diet efficacy: Studies (2003, 2007) consistently showed better short-term weight loss on Atkins-style diets compared to low-fat diets. Atkins diets also exhibited improved cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure markers.*
13:28 💪 *Sustaining weight loss: High protein, low glycemic index diets showed potential for maintaining weight loss post initial loss. Fattening carbohydrates impact both initial and long-term weight loss.*
16:08 🔄 *Energy expenditure impact: Low-fat diets significantly reduce energy expenditure post-weight loss, potentially leading to weight regain. Very low carbohydrate diets displayed the least reduction in energy expenditure.*
18:27 🍳 *Dietary myths debunked: Eating fat does not inherently lead to fat gain, and dietary cholesterol doesn't directly raise cholesterol levels. High-fat diets, despite cholesterol content, showed better cholesterol profiles than low-fat diets.*
21:31 🚫 *Impact of low-fat diets: Traditional low-fat diets recommended by institutions resulted in worse metabolic syndrome markers (abdominal obesity, high triglycerides, low HDL cholesterol, high blood pressure, and sugars).*
22:14 🔑 *Role of insulin resistance: Insulin resistance is crucial in the development of metabolic syndrome, affecting various health markers. Different diets' impact might depend on insulin resistance levels.*
23:22 🍽️ *Different diets impact insulin sensitivity differently: Insulin-sensitive individuals showed no difference between low-fat and low glycemic load diets, but insulin-resistant individuals fared better on low-carbohydrate diets.*
24:03 🍔 *Dietary fat doesn't raise triglyceride levels: Eating fat doesn't increase triglycerides because the body reduces its own production of triglycerides when consuming dietary fat, contrary to assumptions.*
25:14 🦆 *Carbohydrates stimulate fat production in the liver: Refined carbohydrates activate the production of triglycerides, leading to fatty liver accumulation, a significant cause of liver failure.*
26:21 🧪 *Hormonal obesity theory encompasses multiple health issues: Obesity, high triglycerides, low good cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, and fatty liver are part of the insulin resistance syndrome.*
27:28 🥤 *Initial weight loss on low-carb diets is water loss: Lowering insulin levels by consuming fewer refined carbs leads to shedding excess water weight, reducing edema and possibly blood pressure.*
28:55 🍖 *High protein diets' impact on kidneys: High protein diets in healthy individuals showed no significant negative effects on kidneys, but caution might be needed for kidney patients.*
30:06 🌾 *Essential nutrients in refined grains are minimal: Refined grains lack essential nutrients, needing fortification, unlike proteins and vegetables that contain essential nutrients.*
32:35 🍪 *Refined carbohydrates might be addictive: Functional MRI studies suggest that refined carbohydrates like sugars and flours might bypass natural satiety signals, leading to potential addiction.*
37:09 🥗 *Natural unrefined foods reduce overeating: It's challenging to overeat natural unrefined foods, leading to reduced calorie intake without explicit restrictions.*
38:30 🍛 *Carbohydrate restriction leads to decreased calorie intake and improved insulin sensitivity: A strict low-carb diet led to reduced calorie consumption and improved insulin sensitivity without calorie restrictions.*
39:40 📉 *Long-term effectiveness of low-carb diets: Low-carb diets showed short-term weight loss, but over time, the weight loss wasn't as significant as expected.*
41:00 📊 *Protein's effect on insulin: Both carbohydrates and proteins, especially dairy proteins, can raise insulin levels, affecting weight gain, even though they might not significantly raise blood sugar levels.*
45:49 🥛 *Dairy proteins significantly raise insulin: Dairy proteins like milk and whey protein raise insulin levels more than some carbohydrate-rich foods, potentially impacting weight gain and insulin resistance.*
[46:59 URL] *🐟 There's a correlation between fish intake and diabetes incidence, suggesting a slightly higher risk associated with eating fish due to increased insulin levels.*
[48:09 URL] *🍟 Weight gain tends to be linked with foods like potato chips, french fries, and unprocessed red meat, as they raise insulin levels significantly.*
[49:31 URL] *🥖 Whole grains and fruits show a protective effect against weight gain and diabetes due to their fiber content, which reduces insulin levels.*
[50:12 URL] *🍽️ Most foods consumed raise insulin levels, with meat, eggs, sweeteners, flour, sugar, dairy, and added fats contributing substantially, while fruits and vegetables only constitute 8% of the diet, being less insulinogenic.*
[51:45 URL] *🍽️ Hunger is mediated by hormones like ghrelin, CCK, insulin, and leptin, dispelling the myth that constant hunger is necessary for weight loss.*
[53:22 URL] *🧠 Leptin, produced by fat cells, signals the brain to stop eating, but high insulin levels can cause leptin resistance, hindering its effectiveness in regulating weight.*
[55:40 URL] *🌪️ Cortisol, known as the stress hormone, contributes to weight gain by increasing blood sugar levels and breaking down muscle tissues.*
[56:23 URL] *🧘♀️ Methods to reduce cortisol levels include stress-reduction techniques like yoga, meditation, massage, and adequate sleep, which can positively impact weight loss.*
[57:30 URL] *💤 Sleep plays a crucial role in weight regulation; sleep deprivation leads to increased hunger hormones, decreased satiety hormones, and a higher risk of weight gain and insulin resistance.*
[01:02:46 URL] *🥦 Emphasizing unrefined, natural foods like vegetables, fruits, nuts, and berries in the diet is recommended, avoiding highly refined carbohydrates and sugars.*
[01:05:02 URL] *🍎 Apple cider vinegar has been observed to improve insulin sensitivity, reduce blood sugar spikes, increase satiety, and potentially contribute to weight loss when consumed with meals.*
[01:08:25 URL] *🫒 Vinegar, particularly oil and vinegar dressings, may have a protective effect on heart health by reducing the incidence of coronary artery disease, possibly linked to its impact on insulin levels.*
01:09:19 🥗 *Doctors' lack of nutrition training: Despite lip service to nutrition, doctors receive minimal training in nutrition during medical education, leading to a knowledge gap that persists throughout their careers.*
01:10:59 💊 *Medical focus on drugs: Medical professionals often prioritize pharmaceuticals over lifestyle changes when addressing conditions like obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.*
01:13:04 🚫 *Risks of obesity treatments: Some medical solutions for obesity, like certain drugs and weight-loss surgeries, pose severe risks such as fecal leakage, organ toxicity, and increased heart attack rates.*
01:14:12 💰 *Influence of industry in medical guidance: Some medical advice and articles, even in prestigious journals, can be influenced by financial ties to industries promoting pharmaceuticals, meal replacement shakes, and fast food companies.*
01:16:01 🍔 *Industry influence on nutritional education: Industry players often sponsor nutritional education programs, influencing the information dietitians receive and subsequently convey to the public.*
01:18:45 🛒 *Trust in oneself: Encouragement to rely on personal judgment and discernment regarding nutritional information, considering the multitude of conflicting influences and messages.*
FYI: Re the cholesterol scam from the statin makers. My sister's M-I-L has cholesterol in the 500's!!! She is now 102, lives alone in her own home, and is as sharp as a tack. No one should be on statins, especially the elderly!
Those who dislike the speech must come from proceed food industries
Ha ha ha yeap!
They are morons!
I have bought both of his books..Fantastic Dr..
Any success?
The only problem...animal protein has definitely been linked to more cancer. Dr Longo (another favorite) recommends low protein, plant based diet with fish once or twice a week. He does cancer/longevity studies with mice and researches thousands of other's studies with animals and people.
The fiber is only useful for slowing carb release. Eating extra fiber is pointless.
It is difficult to believe that Dr. Jason is in his late 40's. He looks like perhaps 30. He must be doing something right.
He is Asian.
He eats and fasts right
he eats tons of pizza and burguers; similar to the US diet hehe
OmegaChessPirate93 he said in an interview that when he comes back from vacation or business trip he fasts for a few days
That's how they make money!
@@czechraiser so true ! congrats to you. I've just started my journey .
@@czechraiser The one thing I wish is that you could convince people to do what's going to be better for them, but only they themselves can do that.
Veganism is a religion that's the problem.
Whole grains have very little fiber and almost the same impact as their white counterparts.
So what foods specifically does he say to eat??? Im even more confused😮
Fascinating! Dr Fung is such a great presenter. Never before I had understood these concepts as I do now thanks to him, and also Dr Berg. A+++
Dr Berg,’s presentation is good too but he’s not at the same level as Dr Fung…Dr Fung is a kidney specialist , a nephrologist…
Berg is frankly a quack. Chiropractors aren't even allowed to use the predicate 'Dr' in many countries (like most European countries), and rightfully so. They aren't doctors any more than your average witch doctor.
Dr. Fung however, knows his stuff, and is great at what he does.
@@OfficialBeeswax I totally agree wth you…he’s a Chiropractor, not a medical doctor…Dr Fung is the real deal…
Well, my grandma would say: "don't you want another piece of cake? You've gotten too thin!"
well done dr jason. no doubt you are the hope for new generation.
I'm a doctor in Algeria, and all the information they give us is old dead things that they are over and expired
I try my best to auto-éducation my self so i would give my best to my patients .. What really hurts that if you try to say these new things to an older professor or les collègues they would laugh at you and even get may get punished 😭

This information is a gift! Thank you Jason!
This makes so much sense it’s blowing my mind!
Thanks so much, Dr. Fung... I’m a 20+ year nurse who is learning so much... and feeling more healthy by the month!
This entire video is incredible--brilliant, but 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 18 are pure gold. Thank you.

I have now worked up to 90% and it tastes just fine, just not like a treat anymore.
Watching these lectures and learning so much, and yet, commercials keep coming on for McDonald's, Cheese puffs, and all sorts of horrible junk foods. Do you suppose that was planned to derail anyone who might be paying attention?
My husband has done ATKINS for 4 years his blood work is prefect, sugar way under 100.
It works but you still gotta do it. A couple 36 h fasts per week is a good start, and lower the carbs!
In most cases no! ruclips.net/video/teQIaU6wp2o/видео.html
Fasting can make you gain muscle faster: ruclips.net/video/5RM8GRzsIIg/видео.html
Deep ketosis virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body.
Fasts from 36-96 h actually INCREASE metabolic rate! ruclips.net/video/BeC_gIR2Z14/видео.html
Your body releases interferon which is also triggered by the body during viral attacks to shut down the replication ability of the surrounding cells and stop infections.
What breaks a fast? ruclips.net/video/7aRLsCpxy3o/видео.html
Dieters losing weight through intermittent fasting show greater reduction in waist size and increase in insulin sensitivity for the same weight lost and alternate day fasters were shown to lose fat while gaining muscle at the same time over a six month period.
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it and builds muscle!
ruclips.net/video/fJUDucBWv4s/видео.html
Fasting has been shown to increase bone marrow volume by 10% and levels of carnosine in the body in as little as a few weeks.

So... unprocessed meat (high protein, low carb) is gonna be associated with insulin resistance, but fruit (high carb and high fiber) isn't?
On the other hand a heavy carb diet is not ideal, and there's also the fact that meats also tend to be very nutritious.
How do you strike a balance?
Maybe just give an example of a balanced diet focused on reverting/preventing insulin resistance?
Or is fasting/time-restricted-eating the dominant factor where it comes to insulin resistance?
I am learning so much by listening to your lectures, thank you Dr. Fung !
Great talk! The Audience interrupting in the end gets really annoying

Protein only raises insulin if you already have insulin from carbs, if you don't have blood glucose you need the gluconeogenesis to keep your blood sugar from crashing.

In short, humans have no need for fiber.
I cannot believe I had not found Dr Fung before! Now I know why I have always struggled with my weight. Starting to fix it NOW!
Insulin levels is why the lchf people tell you moderate your proteins.
Exactly.
hi guys, interested in diabetes the best results that I have ever had is called the Diabetes Crusher Tactic (just google it) without a doubt the most incredible website i've tried.
Are you one of those people that cruise RUclips videos so they can sell? These guys talk way too much about things that are already free.
This is one of the best videos on RUclips! THANKS!
Thank you for your bravery, your integrity, and your initiative to kill the sacred cow of the the traditionally accepted AHA diet. You are a true leader among your peers! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Whoever is reading- Watch 3rd part before 2nd
Somehow Dr. Fung has interchanged the videos
Thank you so much Dr. Fung!!! Your videos saved me with my pre diabetes! I love this presentation. You're the first Doctor who connected all dots and got into the TRUE core of the problem. I am very grateful! Thank you for your amazing work! 🙏🏻
Foie gras is torture 😡
When we do it to people we call it the SAD and a choice
Thanks Jason U Da Man. Thanks for your good work.I pray God blesses your family and fulfil all your good wishes
Omg, now I know why I want the 2nd plate of pasta:)And I took ate it:) Not anymore! Keto, baby!
You are wonderful Dr. Jason Fung, I have all your books on my kindle, and by following your: Intermittent fasting (16:8) I lost 30lbs in @two months; lots of water, walking, lots of green tea, and black coffee, absolutely no food after 19:55 hrs!
One of the best mentors in the universe👍
Thank you for standing up for people. Your knowledge and sharing of your knowledge has been life changing.
The market place is just trying to make a buck.
but keto bread is low carb, will it make us not in ketosis?
Exactly!!! Atkins bars are full of processed crap. And I love Dr Atkins. Started with his book
@@catwhite8614its crappy processed nutritionless bread!! Eat whole foods
Hooray for this video! Thank-you for an excellent, informative and educational presentation! We need more doctors like this! Namaste!
You are amazing Dr. Thank you so much I’m one of the blessed with your lecture...
And talking for an hour but never drink water, haven’t experience dry throat despite of long hour talking. God bless you more.
I have a serious crush on this man!
Me too. I love him💜❤
Thank you
Blood glucose testing shows that many people to react with significant spikes in their blood sugar levels to whole, 'natural' foods like potatoes, onions, and 'whole grains' (which seldom really are), or even carrots.
Thanks for lecture
1:06:16 Did this guy just interrupt the presentation to ask where to get vinegar?? You buy it at the store!!!!!!!!
Great series Jason it dispels the myths concerning diets.
Best analysis of a diet discussion I've ever seen. "Eliminate Refined and Processed Foods. Minimize Sugars. Eat More Fat and Vinegar".. Thank You...
It worked for my husband. He lost 100 pounds and has kept it off for 4 years. He still always, and I do mean always eats this way. He can eat like a pig too.
44:28 Is it the protein or sugar (lactose) in milk that raises insulin resistance? There is much less sugar (glycogen) in meat
Excellent work and research on your part, Dr. Fung! I have a question regarding fibre and fish oil supplements. On an intermittent fasting schedule, when is it best to take them?
Stop subsidizing the carbs
Why
I'm loving this guy
I appreciate that dr #jasonfung post this videos and we can get the information. I just wish find somebody to let me know what should I eat with diabetes, insulin resistance of course, weight gain baaaaddd abdominal inflammation after eating and leaky gut. I wish I can find somebody that can tell me what to really eat. I end with sensitivity to egg (protein). The specialists told me what I have but nobody told me what to eat. I know sounds crazy but I need an education in what to eat without getting the inflammation or throwing out food. 😔
Look up Bobby with flavcity
I always begin with ground beef ... Chicken... And salmon ... Try eating that ... Also add the butter for flavor its awesome
Thank you I’ve been lied to for years ....
I've read both 'code' books and many, many hours of youtube videos. I'm SUPER interested in hearing everything he has to say. Having said that... that darned mic is REALLY distracting... Thank you, Dr Fung, for being so outspoken!
thanks doc ❤
Dr. Jason thank you for sharing your knowledge. Really helped me a lot in my weight loss journey.
If Dr Astrup is Arne astrup from Denmark, then I see the problem. He was always controversial- defending sugar among others . I attended lectures from him when he was young mid 80 ies.Ambitious in a bad way.
I wish could work with Dr. Jason Fung on my diabetes!
Mary Leslie you can.
You can be an outpatient on his Intense Dietary Clinic. They work with remote patients.
@@NutsinBrazil : that is good to know. I'm interested in being a remote outpatient with Dr Fung.
Rosa Antonetti just Google his name and IDM clinic.
What about elevated leptin caused by Graves’ disease and Hashimoto thyroiditis? What about leptin and menopause or oestrogen? What research has been carried out to understand leptin and fasting or loosing weight?
Please advise.
Thank you so much Dr. Fung. 🙏
Bravo Dr Jason Fung keep doing the good work!!!!!!!
As a physician, I’m not clear on the increase in insulin with only protein, with no carbohydrates. Or did the studies you showed not take into account any carbohydrates that were taken in with the protein.
?
Your body will burn some of the leucine to create an insulin spike so your body can take in the protein.
Ducks would never be that stupid, but people thinking it was healthy…
God I love this guy
Yes they are almost all related to the bad diet.
@@overcomer4226and the FDA lies to us all the time.
That's an interesting thought
Possibly a reason why we should choose grass-fed beef.
Very interesting!
No
It’s possible!
I feel alone and need encouragement.I am an RN, and all my friends oppose my plan.
sagrammyfour i dnt have an answer... but i am with you as a fellow human.. i pray you get your answer... love from india
If you don't eat carbohydrates, then you won't need as much insulin.
Your blood sugar levels are only high because you are consuming carbohydrates.
Dr Fung has protocols in his book about long periods of fasting. 4 days 7 days 14 days or even 28 days consuming only
water, tea, black coffee or bone broth. and multivitamin everyday. + some salt
If you're not eating consuming Sugars of any sort. you shouldn't need insulin. (ask your Doctor first but i'm pretty sure on that)
Thus restoring your insulin sensitivity every time you fast and overtime decrease your dependence on exogenous insulin.
Hope that helps.
Search Keto Evangelist. Great Information. Also on Facebook
Diet Doctor has a list of fast friendly doctors. Maybe you should look for one in your area and change doctor
