I ride from Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido on Highway 131. This is the "direct" route, but a much windier and narrower route through the rolling hills and small Mexican villages. This road is placed with sections that are completely or partially washed-out, making it a tough road for anything other than motorcycles. The tourist busses and most cars take 135.
