Persona 4 - I'll Face Myself -Battle-, Mario Paint

- This is the boss battle theme for Persona 4 (PS2) by ATLUS, which plays during the fights against the shadow selves of the characters.
This was created using a program called "Mario Paint Composer," and done by ear by listening to the OST. This is actually a pretty short piece, so I decided to add a little section to the end of the song (right before it repeats); you might recognize it. =P I hope you enjoy!
The instrument set for the actual song is rather different than what's available in Mario Paint (e.g. there's no Electric Guitar instrument, and I can't create a "whammy" effect or other sorts of dynamics); hopefully I was able to capture some of the original feel.

I find it interesting how well the comments point out the hidden flaws and insecurities that the Mario characters seem to have and repress, and it all sounds pretty canon

You're desperate that nobody will ever love you, or care for you. That you'll be alone. Forever. You try and try again, yet you always fail. When will you give up? Shadow Bowser: Fine then. If you cannot admit your failures... I will force another on to you! *fight whoosh*

Shadow Bowser is the reverse of the Fortune Arcana, represented by his repeated attempts at beating Mario failing as well as a general lack of opportunity.
Shadow Toad is the reverse of the Chariot Arcana, represented by his repeated failures at protecting the princess in dire straights. Also pegged by his massive fears of seemingly everything.

Shadow Daisy is the reverse of the Preistess Arcana, represented by her lack of appearences in main series Mario games, thereby locking away potential and/or wisdom.
Shadow Rosalina is the reverse of the Temperance Arcana, represented by her introspective nature as well as her regret of becoming who she is today leading to both a conflict of intrest when it comes to her duties as a Mother to the Lumas and being stuck in the past, reliving her memories in her Storybook constanly.
Well, here's a long, boring explaination of the Mario character's Shadows Arcana basis. Here we go:
Shadow Mario is the reverse of the Star Arcana, represented by the dissapointment of Peach's advaces and a general pessimism.
Shadow Luigi is the reverse of the Emperor Arcana, where it is represented by his lack of strength and his inability to be the hero Mario is. Captain Ressentimant, anyone?

The main portion took me about 2-3 hours--
The portion added at the end took me about twice as long, even though it's only 1/3rd of the entire song. =P
When I finished the song, I realized how short it was before it looped, so I wanted to add something. I didn't want what I added to sound out-of-place, though, so I took extra care to fit it in without seeming contrived. I'm glad people enjoy it. =]
Shadow Yoshi is the reverse of the HangedMan Arcana, represented by his repeated tendancies to play the martyr and not knowing when to call Mario out on killing him so much in his adventures.
Shadow Peach is the reverse of the Empress Arcana, and a reoccurring boss from PM:TTYD, represented by her longstanding problems when dealing with the Mushroom Kingdom's military budget, as well as her simply getting captured by Bowser repeatedly.

Shadow Wario is the reverse of the Magician Arcana, represented by his greed and lack of willpower around money. He also is a villain in Mario's adventures, using his natural strength and speed unbefitting of such a massive man for his own gain.
Shadow Waluigi is the reverse of the Strength Arcana, represented by his use of his frightening looks and power to intimidate the crew as well as his impulsiveness.

@MettanAtem I wonder what Bowser's Shadow would actually be.
Considering he doesn't really have much to hide since he seems to enjoy being evil...
Maybe Bowser's Shadow would be representative of a possible softer side or his inability to succeed in any of his plans?
I personally think it would be similar to Kanji's, but without the gay bits... Bowser has a tough reputation but on the inside he really does care about his son and the people around him in his games.

The MR L boss fight was amazing using his "green thunder attack" was a genius addition you really could feel it when he only hit characters who weren't Mario or exclusively Mario

The reason why they flow together is because they're sort of the same song. The "regular" non-battle version of this song does that transition normally.

It sounds awkward to me, too, but for the electric guitar that plays at the beginning of the song, the closest one by sound was the plane. XP
The notes are correct, though! Just...the phrasing is wrong, since I can't make the plane hold the note longer than it does.
