Vennesa lanuta same
Me2.. What do they call people like us?? I love empty properties
I know you said NY is your dream but if you cant afford it then dont go, you dont want to struggle and you have no one there. Maybe stay there and in the future NY can be your home, those apts was reallllly nice
Alexis G smart idea but dc is just expensive as ny now
teebaby0486 but she said those was in her price range unlike the ones in NY
I agree... she should go where she can afford and it looks like the DC area will give her more bang for her buck. New York City is way more expensive than DC, trust me.
nut DC is really expensive for no reason also... I live here dc is starting to be more expensive than NY. Small dc apartments are really a lot.
Yeah I live in NY and I love my city but it is beyond expensive
I see a lot of people commenting trying to figure out your bank account, which is absolutely no of the viewers business. So some just a little sound advice from an old head. I was born and raised in The Bronx, NY. And currently my father's side still lives in NY and my mother's side lives in Greensboro NC. So somewhat similar. Jayla do not try and keep up with the Jones' You are a very smart girl find that happy place in your budget and try your best not to spend every dime of that budget just on living. Some of these places will cost an arm and a leg and the bedroom is smaller than my damn closet. What people don't understand is renting does absolutely nothing for you, doesn't help your credit score by paying on time and all that money is basically going down the drain. Just keep weighing out your options boo you will find exactly where you need to be. My best advice to you is don't blow threw your hard earned money girl. I recently purchased a brand new constructed 4 bedroom 4 and half bathroom house and pay $1400 and month due to putting 20 grand down on that home. And I got there through saving and not living beyond my means right out of college. It's overwhelming, but it can be done.
Danielle DeFreitas Sound advice, fiscally smart.
Danielle DeFreitas 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 what did u do as far as credit? I'm working on building mine right now and saving for a house! I'm gonna be saving my RUclips coins
Danielle DeFreitas smart girl and CONGRATS on your house.
Jerika Wilson The first thing I did was sit down with a banker at the bank I'm with (Wells Fargo). I scheduled a meeting with my private banker and he helped me come up with a plan. My spending habits were horrible before I can honestly admit that. But he explained to me it never too late to get it right. We opened up one major credit card that I can only use on emergencies. And if I swipe my credit card I'd pay off the full balance come payment time. There is so much that goes into your credit score like history of credit, credit utilization. If you make that appointment and find someone you can trust make a plan and stick to it as best you can. Second on saving the down payment for the home. I opened up an account and requested not to have a debit card for that account. So really the only thing I did in the account was deposit a % of my checks. And then I had my other savings accounts that was more accessible that I saved in as well. Any extra money, bonuses from work, tax refunds all that went into savings. Multiple lines of income is the next goal for 2017. We can do this ya'll
keish04 Thank you. And I wish many blessing in the new year to all of you.
I was waiting for you to kind of sneak and turn the camera his way one good time 😂
I was looking so hard to see his reflection through the window LOL
MadisonDanielle lol I was too
JadaDTv yes his voice was sexy.
JadaDTv Same .. I could tell he was cute from his voice 😂
HOW WOULD I CHOOSE WHERE I WOULD MOVE? As someone just starting out I would stay somewhere close enough to see family, what are my goals and what place would fit those goals for me, what is my type of lifestyle and what area fits that best because you need to be somewhere where you can wake up daily and do the things you love and get things done efficiently for your type of lifestyle. Also you're a RUclipsr and vlogging you will need many places to be able to shop, hang out where things are happening to keep your content interesting. I remember when you was at your first college you did not like how boring the area was and the school so it did not fit you. You are a very energetic and vibrant person that loves to be out and about so you need an area that is quiet enough for you to film in your apartment but live in an area where you can walk a few blocks or take a short car or Uber ride to all the conveniences. Also as a single person it would be great to have somewhere to have easy transportation in case your car doesn't work or the weather. Well as a Realtor I am asked this quite often, but in the end its all up to you, good luck with your decision.
Rhonda I loved your advice/insight.
thank you
Yass Jayla come thru with these vlogs!! The new camera quality is bomb
I really like that last apartment! & his voice was perfect lol
BeautyByTrisha I keep seeing you everywhere girl lol! I liked your comment yesterday on Ambers page!
Let me go head and subscribe to you!
BeautyByTrisha I didn't see the comment but let me subscribe to girl 😊
Andrea Andrea lol I guess we like watching the same people 😌 Thanks girl 🙂
Kiarra Nicole Thank you 🙂
I WAS WAITING ON YOU TO SHOW US A GLIMPSE OF THE TOUR GUIDE JAYLAAAA!!! omg he just sounded fine. 😂😂
WhittsWorld yesss i saw a glimpse of his reflection in the door and was like pause...rewind damn he fine lol 😂😂
Right!!!! I was looking too hard lol
Silver spring/ DC is a good compromise cause you can kinda get the same feel of NYC
tytygirl11 yes especially downtown silver spring
tytygirl11 I've heard of Silver Spring/DC.
tytygirl11 Yesss I live here and Downtown Silver Spring is great. And it's super close to DC. I love living here
I live in NJ and want to move to Maryland..is downtown silver spring a safe place to live? hows the dating scene?
Jennifer A I'm from GA and want to move to Maryland . Not sure of a place yet. It will only be me and my fiancé so I am definitely in need of some insight
Jayla maybe go on a 6 hour fast, no food just water, play some gospel music and talk to God about your life and ask if He would direct you, perhaps through a dream, vision or sign. You can never go wrong with God's plan for your life. Have a wonderful New Year. God bless you!
SIS YOU TOLD HER THE GOSPEL GREAT ADVICE BLESS YOU SIS
Sabrina Alston SO TRUE
I live in Maryland and work in DC. I have my own car, but I still take the train to work everyday. So, like New York, you have options in terms of transportation!
LexiMB sounds just like me! live in maryland, take the train! it's very easy & less confusing in my opinion than NY!
LexiMB same! I'm in Northern Va, work in DC and take metro
Breezy S I agree! The metro in the DMV is much simpler than NY!
Bre .T It's so convenient! And saves gas lol.
LexiMB Me too
tour guide was flirting... hopefully he comes with the apartment and then he can do the plants for the "greenry"
uniqueLeo08 that's what I felt too, before she mentioned him at the end
Miranda Griffin haha yep... when they had that mini convo about the serenity garden.. I felt like he was trying to throw his line out.
uniqueLeo08 Lol I wouldn't be surprised if he was a faithful subscriber [low key] and be think to himself, "Oh she was feeling me? Cool, I'll give her the hook up." Because he was flirting hard. 😄
how was he flirting??? i don't see it???
Jayla's vlogs makes me want to get my life together lol.
Idk why but the first apartment reminded me of Raven Elyse's first apartment lol
Tierra Zanne i said the same thing
Tierra Zanne She should move near Raven in Austin, TX. Jayla would get more space in TX for her monthly rental fee.
Tierra Zanne lol I was thinking the same exact thing
Tierra Zanne that's exactly what I said when I saw it! Lol
I said the same thing!!
so no one else peeped the Kim Possible ringtone lol
LOL I laughed when I heard it
I was sooo pressed to hear it!!
When you pause another RUclips for Jayla's 😅
Cece Cuttino right lol me too
Cece Cuttino 😂😂😂 I did that too. Don't even remember what I was watching.
I think praying about it is a great way to go about it b/c you have sooo many options. Don't get to overwhelmed by it b/c we all know you are blessed to have as many options as you do right now. And whatever option you pick no matter what God is going to be there to guide you every step of the way.
hahaha I did the same
Cece Cuttino right lmfaaaooo 💯
I'm just a littleeeee bias because I'm from the DC area (lol), but DC is right in the middle between your NC home and New York. Downtown DC definitely can give the New York vibe. As far as transportation, DC's Metro system is reliable and good for the most part so if DC is a serious option for you, then definitely look for places near a metro station and then your options are endless for where you wanna go. But definitely keep praying and God will surely guide you on this decision! 💕
Kickin' It With Bre perfect comment
I would pray and wait for an answer then move. Honestly, NY is crazy expensive and apartment hunting months in advance doesn't really help because they are taken fast. I pray that God gives you a sign girly.
lol girl.. when you showed the Walmart in DC I was like jaylaaaa.. don't be confused.. YOU IN THE HOOD!! Lol.. but down here you will get more for your money. Honestly, I'm from NYC and it's overrated. It's not the city to settle down in. As you get older, the fast pace life will get tiresome. There is no family value in NYC. The work atmosphere is different from college. It's all about the hustle. BUT the night life and social life are the best parts of NYC. Don't make a decision on feelings. Do your research and be smart. What city do you see yourself in when you are 35... 45... 55. That will help narrow down why you are moving now. If you say "I see myself in the south as I'm older" then this move is temporary and just for the experience. If that's the case cash out. But if you are trying to start your life and a family (find a husband).. a hustle bustle city will be hard.. DC or MD will be better for that. Just find your purpose or what you want out of the move and then you can make your decision.
Shaneice Y. On point 👍🏾
on point is right!!!! This is the mistake i dont want to make cause as young people we tend the just look at the present rather than both the present and future
Shaneice Y. The area with the Walmart is the "hood"!? What!? I'm from and still live in NY...I wish our hoods looked like that lol
keish04 yeah.. ppl have gotten shot in front of that beautiful Walmart. D.C. Is weird like that. You can walk from nice neighborhood straight into the hood and not even know it.
Shaneice Y. That's so true
I live about 5 miles away from D.C. and I never cared for the city because of the confusing one way streets and the parking issues. Whenever I got to D.C. I just hop on the train so I can avoid parking fees and trying to find a parking spot on the street. Based off what I know from living in Maryland it wouldn't hurt to look at apartment in the Maryland and Virginia area and take metro (train) whenever you go to D.C. Plus it's always pricier in the city but you can definitely get more bang for your buck in Maryland or Virginia.
Olivia Stevens me too. I hate driving in DC.
Olivia Stevens i agree
Olivia Stevens agree
I just want to point out that in the DMV there is a metro train and bus. Driving isn't a MUST!
Brianna Maynard just like new york
Then why is there a beltway surrounding DC?
Russell Westbrook Fan since 2010 thats like asking why nyc has roads. driving is not a must, but it is an option.
The last apartment you visited was my favorite!
the third apartment looked like a movie. so luxurious. wow. You're blessed.
I love how Jayla is wanting opinions and suggestions from her subbies! Makes them feel involved. 👌🏾
The last one is defiantly a plus and the view it has was AMAZING!
What makes the most sense?
Can i afford it?
will i be happy?
What is my plan?
... thats how you decide
Jayla take your time... You'll find your way... All the best! ❤️
For your New Years resolution, you should make a vision board. You really need to think, "what do I want to do in life?". Once you're able to answer that question, research the best areas that people are successful in your field. What are the pros and cons to each area? What is the average salary for your dream job in each area? The cost of living? Those factors should narrow down your options.
Even if I'm unable to watch Jayla's videos I always come to like it. She's so amazing & such an inspiration, I have to support! Keep going please never give up!
LMAOOOOOO yo when you were talking about the tour guide I was waiting for it he looked sooooo goood and I didnt even get to see him lmaoo he just sounded so smooth and chocolatey
I love how the second apartment has the washer and dryer in the closet so you can go ahead and put your clothes up once they are dry.
Honestly love vlogs where Jayla is grinding like this 🙌🏽 I get sooo motivated 🙌🏽
I am very appreciative of your vlogs lately. I recently received my degree in fashion merchandising & moved back home. The dream is NY when I get my bearings
but D.C is where family is for me too. I'm living vicariously through you, taking notes. & I think NY sounds like where you wanna be. If you can do it by all means go for it.
I would establish my purpose and be open and accept God's will...even if its not what you want, He knows What's best
Hey Jayla, I recommend keeping your options open. You never know what job may fall in your lap. Perhaps waiting to see what happens as it gets closer for you to graduate b4 you make your decision. Who wants to be in a lease and your job is in a different location thats maybe too far for a reasonable commute. The sky is the limit, and I say always keep your options open. Since I am a lot older than you, I can tell you from experience that's exactly what I did after finishing undergrad. I searched and applied for the job that I wanted to do the most and then, I relocated based on the new job location. Thank you for bringing us along while you apartment shop. P.s. the last apartment is really cute 😘
She's literally my inspiration. ✨
The last set of apartments was absolutely beautiful and I feel as if it has a lot to offer with the zin garden and bar area where you could host gatherings. As far as choosing a place to live I say choose base on the job market and the stability of jobs in the area.
I was thinking the same thing about to tour guide. I couldn't see this face but that voice sounded like heaven 😍😍😍. Come to NY it's poppin!
I really like those apartments. My fav was the one with the big closets and the black kitchen counter. That one is more of a house like feel.
If I had no limitations to where I would live I would pick the place with the best shopping, best job opportunity, most affordable, good climate, and the place that gives me the happiest lifestyle.
I really like the last apartment too that comes with all the group accessories I guess lol
You know! Whatever place makes your heart happy!
You already said it - pray about it, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide your footsteps. For me, I wanna be either in New York or in Atlanta. Since I desire to be in the Fashion Industry, I can only see myself in either two of those places. With me, my family is so huge that anywhere I go I have family there. So family isn't an issue for me, however, being my own person is. Though I'm in my 20's, I've been sheltered my entire life. So I would want to first know what it is that I wanna do, research the states I can excel in with the career path that I desire to pursue, pray for direction/asking the Holy Spirit to direct my footsteps, and walk by faith and not by my own sight, (which can be easier said than done at times). But I believe that you're gonna be fine. I'm so excited for you, Jayla, and to be viewing your journey is quite an honor and such a inspiration for me to go what I want in my own life. So thank you for sharing your journey to us.
Praying and fasting always bring clarity. Give it a little time and wait for God to open those doors and you'll know exactly where you're supposed to be!
I like the second option and the one-bed den!
girl i could tell he was fine by the voice!! lawd
You're a blessing, Jayla
You give me so much motivation!!
I love that last one, cause the grass thing and the space could be great for youtube
space
The last one is soooo nice
Get super excited when I get your notifications! Love your videos!!!
You inspire me Jayla, thank you!😌😌
that first apartment you went into reminded me so much of raven's in dallas! Lol
I think you should move to NYC. it's what makes you the happiest, you have connections and friends already established there and it's not too far from home. For your field, it also makes the most sense.
loved the apt with the white framed windows. sooo pretty.
YESSS!!! That's ALLLLLL I thought when she was touring that apartment! I needed more of a tour of him!!
Wow Those are real life apartment goals 😭😍
I would choose based on employment and my support system.
Yes for the tour guide. I was like that's Jaylas type. That was the nicest apartment too.
I think it's all about going with your gut and where you truly feel you want to be. If your family is there that is definitely a great reason to move there!
girl he sounded fine. I like the last apartment but I love closet space.
When choosing to move Jayla, you need to see which is better for your degrees, no matter what follow the money AND COST OF LIVING, and what's gonna give u more bang for ur buck, bc u can always make ur apt into ur home so don't get caught up in flashy, ur a creative girl. The economy is what encouraged me to move to Texas and the fact that it's great for the dental community in which I am interested in. I feel like you should stay in DC because there are a ton of great opportunities there, maybe not as flashy as NYC but DC offers longevity in careers and affordability as a whole a tad bit better than New York. Stay in DC for a year, do a country girl becomes city girl series and then after that you will know better if you want a more faster or slower pace of life.
I see you like the flexibility of being able to drive to see both families. I def say pray about it, make lists of what you will do in both areas & What makes you happy in both areas. I feel like your a go getter so you will make it happen either place. Me personally (from NJ) moved down south a lil over a year ago. I started with a shorter term lease... Gave myself a chance to try it out and I'm still here..That's all you can do. Decide, run with it, no regrets. What's the worse that can happen. You move to a place and a year later you move somewhere else. All learning and growing experience girl! I'm gonna say a prayer for you, and wish you the best of luck !!
Big fan!! out of all your videos, I related to this the most. I just went through a similar situation. I graduated from Georgia State, always wanted to be a designer went to FIT for the summer, had an amazing experience and made plans to go bk after the summer. moved out my apt in Atlanta, and I went back to NY for a week some how I tried everything but it wasn't working out then I got the overwhelming feeling that I needed to stay with ATL and my plans weren't done yet here, now my plans/actions are bigger then moving to NYC, your channel is awesome and your super smart, sometimes you just have to put all possibilities in the universe and something will stick!! moral point after the long ramble lol!can't wait to see what happens next, good luck
i still can't parallel park to save my life lol
LadyJustice the reverse cam is life on my car
beau knows88 i need that in my life. but my car bout to be paid off in a few months lol
So glad to know I'm not the only one. If I can't smooth into a parking space, I'll keep driving around till I finally one where I can do that.
Kim possible throw backs with the ringtone😂😂😂
make a list on what you really want. what are the musts and what would you compromise on ?
Just found your channel, immediately subbed!! U give off such a great vibe 👸🏽
The last apartment 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I would apply to jobs/grad programs in both areas, ask God to order my steps, & choose from there once opportunities present
LOVED your natural makeup in this video. The apartment with the 'serenity garden' was my favorite. You've mentioned going to grad school, personally I'd make that a heavy factor in deciding where I move to. Wherever the school (your favorite school if you applied to more than one) is located. Good luck and let us know which was your favorite !
good lighting is super important too
D.C is good for job growth and still have the city vibe. Also buying property in DC has benefits when it comes to taxes etc. However if you're renting, I would suggest Maryland because less hassle when it comes to parking and traffic
Try looking at downtown silver spring or downtown Baltimore as well they have nice places and have a city vibe
for the last apartment i promise you I was saying to myself that your guide sounded cute lmao!
I'd say go with your hearts desire! God will allow everything else to fall in place!! Good luck love ❤️
Love these videos !! I never want them to end 😖😖
If I was you, I would pick where I would be the happiest
Army Barbie she has all her life to do that
Life is not that easy
I agree with you at Army Barbie, life is too short
I guess y'all are gunna help her pay her bills? Life is short yes but she has to be reasonable! New York is expensive!! I saw a comment saying it's like $2200 per month and that does not include gas, water etc so unless y'all are gunna help her with her bills monthly then hush but if she goes to grad school maybe she can live on campus and financial aid can pay for it. I'm done
lol she specifically said she had no limitations so Im pretty sure although its a little out of her budget she can pay for it. NY is expensive but there are alot more pros. I live in NY right now and Im good.
LavishRuby what are the pros exactly?
Just pray on it!
Yes girl that last apartment is just beautiful! But I definitely agree...gotta ask God where he wants you to go! Good luck jay, you are such an inspiration! ❤️
I feel like New York is the place for you Jayla. Im from the DC area and while i love DC i feel as though there would be a lot mre opportunities for you in New York. Keep praying on it girl. Im soo excited to see where life brings you❤️
But I would pick the one with the fine tour guide
I live in College Park and want to move when my lease is up. Would you mind sharing the names of some of the affordable places you looked at? I'm looking for a 1 bedroom. Thanks!
You're so inspirational !
I would definitely pray and let God lead me! I took a vow that I won't ever take another step with God leading my footsteps! I pray everything works out for you Jayla! You're a smart woman! I know you'll make the best decision for you and your career!
I feel that the move is based on the career you wanna start...once you figure out how you want to build your brand and career the dream apartment will follow. also you won't know what is perfect to you till you take a jump and try it. I can't wait to see where your next chapter will start!
I knew he was fine, he just sounded fine 🌚😂
Loved this vlog
I'm graduating in May as well! It's definitely so much to think about and a ton of decisions have to be made. Although it's exciting it is also so stressful. During my spring break I'm going to go apartment hunting & hopefully on interviews in the other states that im interested in. Good luck & God Bless you!
if you come dc.... it's a must to parallel park
Oh and that walmart is very hood lol
teebaby0486 I HATE driving in DC it gives me anxiety 😂
Yes it's a pain and the pot holes 😣😣😣
Everything IS BIGGER IN TEXAS!!!
You are giving me life with these apartment hunting videos!
I love the last apt. If I could move to any of those spots I would definitely do D.C. . A little less opportunity than New York but the same type of vibes
What website did you use to find apts in this area ? I'm apt hunting too.
if i had no limitations it would be based on the cost of living , job prospects and beauty. i like mixture of city and suburbs.
I am so glad I came across this!
Lovee LOVVEEDD the last one , that one is more of my style 🖤🖤🖤
Now I KNOW your dad is not on board with you moving into this gentrified DC area with that hole in the wall spaces!! And BABYYYY you don't want ANY PARTS OF that Georgia Ave Walmart!!!! Look in Silver Spring, Bowie, shoot..look in Rockville if you want but DC BABYYYY,,,,ahhhh, NO MA'AM!!!
mschanee amen lol
Josie you know its the truth...lol...those rat infested lipsticks on a pig they call luxury apartments are for those folks who have NO IDEA what they've gotten themselves into.
Is DC that bad?! am planning on moving there this summer. What areas of town are nice and has affordable rent?
Jayla from experience I will tell you go where you are most happy. Folllow your heart but also take your brain with you lol . I recently rushed and moved to an apartment because I wanted to leave my hometown so bad and I am still unhappy . I love the apartment but it doesn't give me that feeling where I know I am truly happy. So that is my advice to you and also pray to God for some guidance ❤️. I am new subbie and I am looking forward to seeing you on your new journey. -Blessings
a*
I agree with you just pray about it! It will work out in the end. They all look like a great place to stay even the NYC apartments! Congrats on finish your semester. I'm excited for your last semester of undergrads? Oh what about grad school? Are you considering not going anymore?
GIRL that little speech in the beginning, I FEEL YOU. I'm graduating in May and I have no clue what I'm doing with my life lmao, keep doing you what makes you happy!
Jayla this is like my 3rd comment but I hope you read this......I hate that NY is way more pricey with small looking apartments lol..those DC apartments look nicer imo and I'm sure they're less expensive. You could always move to New York in the future. It's not going anywhere. You should find a job that you like in DC for now and later down the road find an even better job in NY and move there. Keep in mind that when you're older there's also more opportunities.
I would say move where you would be more happy. If there are no limits. Personally from experience I moved from Los Angeles California, to Winston Salem North Carolina and there is LITERALLY NOTHING HERE. You can't grow here, you cant make money here, i have no family here what so ever, but i moved here with "NO LIMITATIONS" for college in Charlotte, NC & im 23 and honestly being here is depressing because i'm not near ANY family, Its nothing to do, everything is far, and i will be moving back to California in June. So my advice to you is be write your pros and cons about each state and include, family, holidays, emergencies, happiness, is it easy to make friends, what are key things you need that are in the area you want to live in. Are there jobs around what you want to do with your degree? are there "RUclips space creative things to do or places to film?. Is it somewhere you can see yourself for the next 5 years? but Im so proud of you girl i know you'll make the right decision.
Yas Jayla I was thinking the same thing about that tour guide. And no matter where you decide to go success will follow! Personally I would choose New York because you can work well with the lifestyle over there.
I love love love the third apartment, it's so modern and edgy
