You definitely need to do a redemption video for the rock session. To me, this channel has been about your progression. Where you started, and how far you've come. Let's see that next step!
I use the same rule of 3 like the Singletrack Sampler does. If I can't make a feature in just three attempts, I save it for another ride. Once you start getting tired and frustrated, you'll more than likely make the mistake that gets you hurt. The trail isn't going anywhere and there are other days. Definitely like the looks of the 7, keep up the great reviews
I love my bone stock Roscoe 7. It out climbs and keeps up with my buddies downhill who have more expensive bikes with more mods and "better tires". I may look into a higher quality rear gear set. But I love it as a whole.
One big difference between the previous generation and this generation is the Through-Axle at the rear. Prior to this model the Roscoe had a open rear dropout. This limits wheel selection for replacements and is a less accurate and durable set up.
I am so thankful to you - rented a bike at Cuyuna last weekend and had the time of my little old life… got bit bad by MBT bug. I’m thinking of making this my first bike.
Thanks for reviewing the Roscoe 7. I got one this spring. It's been a good beginner bike at a good price point. It left enough in the budget for helmet, shoes, basic tools ext. While I would have liked to get the 9 it was just out of budget co sidering I needed so many other items.
Hello sir. My wife has had her Roscoe 7 for less than two months and we have been changing tires after about 14 days. Because as she said, pedaling on those 2.6" tires was insane purgatory. I put a 2.4" (Maxxis DHR) on her rear wheel and a 2.5" (Maxxis DHF) on the front and now she is thrilled with the bike. She says the bike is noticeably lighter, pedals faster and is more nimble when riding off-road. Great video, thanks for it :)
Hey Matty, thanks for another video. I love watching all of these. I'm new to MTB at age 36 and your videos landed me buying a Marlin 6 to start. So far I'm loving it. Keep up the great videos and having fun!
Stayed to the end, best review on a mountain bike I've seen. I think if you had your mountain bike shoes on it would have made the difference. Thanks for keeping it real. It takes guts to show live trials and tribulations. That rock was out of my class. Rock on!
I got a Roscoe 7 2022 last July but i updated it to Roscoe 9 2023 two weeks ago..... If you are lighter rider you wont notice much, other than the brakes are so much better. But if you are a heavier rider then the fork will be so much better and therefore the whole bike transforms Into a beast. To me it is just that. 7 is a great entry bike and more ❤
I bought a Marlin 5 G2 about 2 months ago just to get outside and exercise and have fun. I think I am already ready to upgrade and really looking at the new Roscoe 7 now.
You can't aproach every climb going pedaling, like you were fast flowing pedaling. Sometimes you need to stop the bike, and make hops with the bike to position your wheels, make a few pedal kicks over one wheel, some side hops, and time your pedal kicks. And those are techniques you are not developed yep. Learn to hop with the bike in one place, learn to do pedal kicks on the back wheel, then do it with hops on the back wheel. Those are trial techniques that are going to push you to another level. There are lots of tutorials over youtube, like the channel of "super rider" and there is one kid called "Jordi sala biker", that is going to show all this climbing techniques in his videos. Anyway, I appreciate your honesty saying you couldn't do it, other people would have edited the video. I love this riding videos. Cheers!
I was thinking the same thing as you can't just plow or pedal up certain spots. Sometimes front and rear wheel lift is required to get up and over. But you said better than I did lol. Kyle and April 'Ride MTB Express' have a video where he teachs this. I trying to learn this skill myself... cheers.
@@gaddobronx6740 Yup, there is a video called "The 5 basic trials techniques EVERY mountain biker should learn" that shows you the trial techniques you are going to need to improve your MTB experience, and opens an entire new level of skills.
I just purchased the exact Rosco 7 I immediately switched out tires bars and stem and also changing out breakes all the around it is a very capable bike I also ride a full squish but I wanted this Rosco 7 because of color I'm just building it up for an all around bike just for the trails but also bike packing Like I said it is a very good bike stock for beginners and ones with higher skill level very playful bike I ride a large
I got a roscoe 7 in April, and I have really loved it. I have been riding downhill tracks in NWA, and I already think it's time to upgrade my brakes personally. It's a little scary hitting the berms at the bike parks, but they get the job done for now. Nice vid
The frames on the Roscoe 7, 8 and 9 are all exactly the same. So what you are paying for is component spec on anything higher than the 7. Honestly the things that I upgraded on my roscoe 7 were the fork(38mm Domain) brakes(SLX 4 pistons) touch points (WTB Volt, RevGrips, PNW pedals) and dropper(PNW Loam 170mm) but the bike it totally capable as I bought it. I am just a Clydesdale and needed more fork and stopping power. I did replace the tires but not until I wore them out. I would consider the tires, a general purpose of lean more towards cross country style riding tire. I have noticed that they’re a very light tire for as big as they are and they have a tendency to weep Stans sealant. like they will just leak right through the sidewall. But I told you Matty they kinda sucked. LOL Overall this bike is pretty solid. And if trek lowered the price another $100 it would probably be THE “hardcore hardtail” for the masses. I think it’s about $100-$150 too expensive for what you get still. Or trek can give you better brakes than the MT200’s.
Personally I'm not a massive fan of the Bontrager tires. They are cross country tires, and weren't really suitable for the rocky, gravely conditions here in Phoenix. I had to swap them out with a Specialized Butcher for the front, and Specialized Purgatory for the rear. But that being said. The Roscoe 7 is a perfect beginner's bike. With an upgradable platform for when they eventually progress.
Great video man, year I had been wondering why you dont use a bear bell. Its a good idea. Definitely try that tech section again. You had it. Keep up the good work 👍
I got that same exact bike last October, already have 1600 miles on it. Love it. Just ordered the same bike in xs for my grandson, he's excited. Those things just eat up the trails!
