This thing zaps for about a month and then stops working. Beeping and vibrating works, but zap (the main reason I got this) stops working after a while. I really wanted this to work so much that I went through THREE OF THEM. All worked fine until after the first month. I was so mad. I still use the vibrating feature to help me wake up, but if I knew it was gonna come down to this I would’ve bought a watch the only vibrates.

Yeah, Jace I’ve encountered these issues as well tbh. Initially out of the box it worked great but the build quality and internals I’ve questioned a lot after a month of using it and those seem to be an issue. I’ve used other pavloks in the past and ran into these issues as well. However I still use it to help me wake up even tho I encounter issues with it sometimes. Thats the only thing it’s been useful for. Wish it was a better quality (working) product after a couple months of use.

Just bought this thing and I do have to say, it works. I have a bad habit of sleeping in due to going to work at 5 AM and never going to bed before 11:30 lol. I even sleep through the Amazon Alexa alarm clock, which is pretty damn loud. But so far, it’s waking me up. My wife said that it looked like I was having a seizure one morning when it was going off but it’s fine 😂

I am responding to comments about the Pavlok stops working after a month or so. I had the same issue. But I bought a few of them, Pavlok 2 and Pavlok Shock Clock, because this device is really unique at getting me up. I already spent hundreds of dollars on other alarm clocks that don't always get me up, but the Pavlok electric shock does. They also have a lease (pay per month program, so if have an issue you can swap it out). If you really have trouble getting up/being on time for college or work, I would recommend consider trying it. I have the Pavlok 3 (it costs more then the Shock Clock or Pavlok 2, but it has an added feature that I really like, you can set different electric shock levels for each alarm, so I start with a the sound/vibration only alarms, then I add multiple other alarms later in morning with increasing level of electric shock 10%, 20%, 30% (to ensure I get up). Also the Pavlok 3 has the option to add a Nylon velcro strap that is more comfortable and more secure/tighter, then the Silicone strap with metal buckle (so you can really feel the shock, even at 10% I find it is enough to wake me up, no matter how tired I am). I don't really need the shock most mornings, but it is there just in case (so I am up and turn it off before it goes off most mornings). I am sure they will continue to improve the Pavlok quality if more people hear about it and buy it.

I find it amusing how they called it "Pavlok", named after Ivan Pavlov, and likely refers to classical conditioning. Yet, the process the device puts you through is operant conditioning. Where's the hype for my main man Skinner?

I don’t have one yet but it’ll be on its way to my house next week for sure. The only thing I’m concerned about is that if I’m trying to stop picking, biting, scratching, whatever it may be, that I’ll just start using my other hand. I’m not a psychopath, I don’t just bite my nails on one hand. I guess for the left hand I’ll have to do it manually

    • @T3CHUP

Good question. I really don’t have any problems with nail biting or picking cuticles so I wouldn’t give you a straight forward answer. I’ve primarily used the device for waking up and sleep but I know when you raise your hands with the device on.. there is a feature that detects upwards movement with a shock so im pretty sure it works for nail bitting but just picking cuticles I don’t think so. Maybe if you raise your hands near your face to constantly pick them?

  • @Jonathan-jo2xu

For years I've been a huge proponent of shock collars for dogs when I had kids I thought it would be an invaluable tool to use on them but I was told I would be put in jail. I am always trying to explain that if you could set up an autocorrect feature on a shock collar it would be hugely beneficial to anybody wearing it.bpeople are always scared of the shock perception. as an electrician I can say it's harmless yet uncomfortable. The bottom line is pain and discomfort are huge motivators to do or not do something. I wanted to invent something like this for 2 decades and foolishly I listened to the people that said I was a sadistic lunatic. Oh Well Good luck with this, I know with proper promotion it will be a game changer for everyone.

Also requires your email in order to use the device? A bug report that's actively available in the app at all times? A mandatory tutorial to use the alarm feature? Not disclosing the bugs you encountered? The app wants to be too much as well. They need to focus on one thing and get it working properly (the wearable...) before adding additional features.

Are there any other such devices? I really, really wanted Pavlok to be real but the more I read the more it becomes obvious they're just capitalizing on the novelty of a great idea. They found a seriously brilliant niche but rather than make a product that can grow to fill the niche and meet the needs from which the niche arose they're just slinging as much garbage as they can before someone competent decides to help out Pavlok's victi-err, customers. It actually really bums me out - because I actually really need this product.
So the original question: anyone know of another comparable device which is not a sad fumble?
