Wow very important tips thanks Dave. I have some questions please if you don't mind. in the UDF section you mentioned that doing a subassembly from the bolts components will mess up your BOM. what is the difference between a BOM created with a Subassembly made of bolt components repeated multiple times and a BOM created by UDF as you did in this video. how do these 2 techniques generate different outcomes from a BOM perspective ? Thank you

A subassembly consisting of only bolts, washers, and nuts would imply that these components would be assembled together and delivered together as a unit for integration with the components they will be fastening. It would also imply that there may be a process plan at this level. To deal with this you would need to either designate the fastener subassembly as a Gathering Part in Windchill or create an mBOM that moves the components up to the next level in the assembly.
A fastener subassembly simply creates an unnecessary level of hierarchy in the product that results in downstream work for procurement, inventory, manufacturing, planning, and so on, and would require steps in manufacturing process planning to eliminate.
UDFs and Local Groups result in none of this unnecessary hierarchy or work.

How did you select the bottom surface of the plate without rotating the model or doing any mouse clicks? Shortcut? Great videos btw!

Tap the right mouse button. It's called Query Select.

I have a question, on Creo 8 when I create a circle and do protrusion, the circle is not solid and becomes a hollow circle. What can I do? Please advise. Thank you

Creo defaults to a surface if the sketch is not closed or has additional open entities. Are you sure your sketch only has closed loops?
