You, Bugez, and Juji are the trifecta of all things I love about weight lifting and the community around it. I channel your energy when I do ridiculous and obscure lifts that draw attention and in turn make friends.
It's really nice to hear that eric is a genuinely nice guy off camera. He definitely portrays a "personality" and it's easy to wonder if they're the same person off-camera. I loved him before and now it seems to be more so.
The mindset is no joke. I member in the metal n iron days when he was just some dude sitting in his car talking about how he felt time working against him, how every day is now or never. Now he's on Smackdown. It's really opened my eyes to what is possible for us poorboys when you live life with total non-stop passion and intensity.
Eric Bugenhagen embodies "Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good". Using a $200 lat pull down machine to work out every muscle in your body may not be optimal, but it will get you a lot further than waiting on the "right" equipment.
I love that Eric ate the sourdough pretzels and peanut butter. Not sure you saw the video, but that's what he picked out on a shopping trip with Juji about food on a budget. Just legendary. He lives the myth.
I lost my closest friend Monday, watching this video I find value in the "mindset" and its application both in and out of the gym. This friend, a brother to me, taught me what it meant to treat the body as a precious tool. Seeing his form and dedication in the gym inspired me to grasp the weights both literally and metaphorically. His fitness was matched only by his intellect, a great writer, artist, and conversationalist. From where I stood, the man's mind was as finely tuned as his muscles. Mental illness took him, I regret saying, but even now I find inspiration in the lessons he taught me about mental fortitude and the power of the mind. He is gone now, but that impression he made on me will never leave. Watching you and Eric and Juji this week will really help me through this, and so thank you for being a friend, even if we haven't met.
Eric's best quality aside from the mindset is he is extremely open to being creative with respect to finding things that can work or take you to the next level. Not only that, but this creativeness can also help keep the right mindset because it prevents you from getting bored.
One of the things I love about Juji and Erik is the fact that they train because IT'S FUN. Obviously they set goals for themselves and try as hard as they can to reach them, but all the "silly" stuff that they do reminds me that training is fun and should always be fun. I think that it's something that it's so easily forgotten, because we fitness enthusiasts are always chasing goals, trying to be better than the next person.
Eric is amazing. Sign up for his Patreon and you get to see how human he is, answering questions from everyone in his community with solid advice, tidbits. He really cares.
The Bugez’s heart comes right through the screen brother. So does yours. Congratulations on 100k! Best wishes for your continuing recovery and rebuild stronger. 💪
Mixing things up the way Eric does actually makes from an evolutionary standpoint. We are still designed for a life of hunting and gathering we were never designed to have unlimited access to unlimited resources. It’s just kinda fun to think about personally.
It would be great if you, juji, boogz, and Dave tate did a collab at elite fts especially since Eric is another person who doesn't always use equipment for its intended purpose and I will be making a visit to your gym sometime this week
The three of you gents together doing anything is a solid time. Awesome that you got to get to know him enough to impact you positively. Progress is progress
Eric F*#*in Bugenhagen, with a mindset at the interaction of insanity & childish wonder. Glad you two met and had such a great time, the videos were a blast.
That stuff you said about mindset and how it can branch out into other things beyond training as well was powerful, thanks for all those juicy tid bits.
I love Eric's silly, down to earth vibes. feel like he's a little bit of an acquired taste and a lot of fitness guys have egos that would conflict with his style because he likes a lot of the spotlight. Glad to hear that he's everything he seems to be behind the scenes. Hope your recovery is going well!
Speaking on heavy singles, if you've ever run a strict powerlifting program they'll have you doing 1 rep maxes 2-3 times a week. It's very intense and taxing mentally and neurologically, but I felt it was totally worth it for the strength, not necessarily gains, but the mental aspect of lifting at your max becomes something you get a lot more comfortable with.
The “freedom” aspect is something I need to work on I’m also a very regimented person where eating and workouts are pretty structured I have a plan for each workout, and each one has a different focus and different core exercises that I plan to hit, along with a couple correctives and a couple isolations. There are days where I sometimes decide to branch out. I’ll scratch a few of the normal items off the list and I will incorporate a few random ones for variety But I often struggle with feeling like the workout isn’t complete or wasn’t good. Like if I said to myself.... you know what. I’m going to skip traditional deadlifting today. Instead I’m going to load up the weight and do heavy rack pulls. When it’s done I often feel like... I just sacrificed a workout and it wasn’t as good as it could be if I actually did deadlifts Or I will do the occasional week of one rep max workouts where I’m testing maximums on the core lifts. When the week is over it’s like.... damn I didn’t get nearly enough “volume” this week. I need to get better at enjoying what I’m doing, regardless of what I’m doing, and I need to stop treating myself like it wasn’t a good week unless I followed my plan to the letter and got all the volume that I was supposed to
Eric, Juji, and you are the best. Thank you for being transparent with your injury and relationships with your friends, it’s refreshing as fuck to see man.
Agree about your mind being a big part of training. Recently did one of brian alsruhes program where the final set was an as many reps as possible at a certain percentage. It makes you know that you can get more reps than you thought thus stronger than you think you are.
Nice to hear this. Idk why but when I was watching the collab I felt the vibe was off for some reason. Guess I’ll have to watch again. Glad the recovery is going well 🙏🏻
Eric can teach us a lot. Just lift some heavy shit and find your own personal way. And your mind is just as important as your body when lifting. A lot of times it's the limiting factor. I've had people help me hold weights in my hand that I didn't think I could lift, just to see what it felt like. Then I went and did a set of 3. Once my mind knew, I could do.
Congrats on 100k Joey, couldn't think of anyone who deserves it more. Love your videos and catch every one, you Inspire me to keep training and create content myself.
You, the Bugez, Juji and Antoine V are my favorite youtubers (sorry....influencers) to watch! I started watching for tips, but I was shocked to learn how funny, entertaining and genuine you all are! Keep up the good work you guys
Juji once said to find people who kinda look like you and do what they do. Then he started hanging out with u two dudes and I knew that I found "The circle". Great video and so looking forward to the content in the future with u guys.
Dude I’ve ALWAYS wanted to know what Eric would order at a restaurant… lol. I’ve kept up with his eating habits for a while now and like you said I 100% believe he sticks to “ his” diet or should I say “ way of eating” no matter what.
The vid Eric did with Juji and Tom doing chest while drinking honey and eating huge bulbs of garlic is still one of my favorite vids ever. Such a great guy in general.
That was fun content to watch! That’s what I subscribed to you from. Always loved when Juji had Rick the Stick Delhagen over and you fit right in! His diet really is wild, I don’t understand it at all and I really thought he was cappin this whole time. 😂
Someone asked me how I know I am getting stronger if I don't keep a log of my lifting progress.....I just told him I lift something for a while until it gets lighter and then I add more weight, and know that I am stronger because heavy things are not heavy anymore....I feel that I share a similar mentality to the bugz
How is your bicep btw? what's the recovery time for an injury like that? I remember one time my calf "gastrocqnemius" popped, it was so loud, and I was out of commission for four weeks
You, Bugez, and Juji are the trifecta of all things I love about weight lifting and the community around it. I channel your energy when I do ridiculous and obscure lifts that draw attention and in turn make friends.

Martins is cool
Just sayin
There are a bunch of cool people. I just like the chemistry and energy of Joey, Bugez, and Juji. 🤷♂️

Biggie Boogs blew the doors down on Smackdown. I'm so pumped he's moving up.
PUSH BOOGS TO THE MOON!
It's really nice to hear that eric is a genuinely nice guy off camera. He definitely portrays a "personality" and it's easy to wonder if they're the same person off-camera. I loved him before and now it seems to be more so.
yeah i love his bro talks in his older vids he's so chill

Now he's on Smackdown. It's really opened my eyes to what is possible for us poorboys when you live life with total non-stop passion and intensity.
Glad to hear Eric is a true bro on and off camera.

Working and progressing with intention is a much better approach than "optimizing" with excuses
I love that Eric ate the sourdough pretzels and peanut butter. Not sure you saw the video, but that's what he picked out on a shopping trip with Juji about food on a budget. Just legendary. He lives the myth.

NEARLY 100k
Eric's best quality aside from the mindset is he is extremely open to being creative with respect to finding things that can work or take you to the next level. Not only that, but this creativeness can also help keep the right mindset because it prevents you from getting bored.
Rick is a great guy. Birds of a feather flock together king. Hope all is well with recovery

Just lmao

This is the kind of stuff that is making this community thrive. thanks for uploading this
That stuff you said about mindset and how it can branch out into other things beyond training as well was powerful, thanks for all those juicy tid bits.
With great mindset comes great responsibility...and lots of pretzels.
5:36 "it'll be what it'll be" I love that.
As someone who has followed both of you for many years, Sunday was one of the most wholesome. It couldn't have happened to a better guy
Bugez is the only man to have truly ascended beyond the art of ego lifting. Dude is on a higher plane of existence when he's hitting PRs for reps.
Eric is a beast, as far as I’m concerned you guys are on the same level. Both specimens that are strong as fuck!
CONGRATS ON 100k been checking every day for the past 3 months 😊
Coach Joe did a great job of diluting and translating the mindset for humans.

Wholesomeness and education in a single appreciation video.
Content like this really uplifts the fitness community.

Bugez is great. Cool to see you guys working out.
Cheers joey, eric is a great dude and all the content you guys put together was a treat.
That was very wholesome. Eric Bugenhagen is my favourite youtuber and I was happy to see you were doing videos with him :)

Strong intentions create reality.

You're inspirational and awesome dude, thanks for sharing your experiences

He’s my favorite wrassler & I don’t even watch WWE.
