I paid $2000 more for my LRMY Black on Black color to be eligible for Uber black but I see other cars without black on black still getting Uber black jobs
Yes, we’ve seen/heard of that too, but as soon as a passenger(s) complain, it’s often flagged. Uber then can remove option until compliance is shown. An exterior can be wrapped in black (worst case scenario), but changing interior difficult.
The fix is in, and I figured out why the major platforms don't have their rental outlet (um.) partners rent SUVs, it's a racket - so, one has to dig for one. That said... Who rents SUVs for Lyft/Uber in So-Cal outside of Avis and Hertz? For a weekly rate that won't break the bank.. I would like to consider Sixt, but they have horrible reviews and even in contact with them, seem awfully shady... sad because they have an entire fleet of what you can drive and make money with driving too much to make that happen Any ideas?
We're not familiar with how Uber Black works in So-Cal, but in NYC you just need a TLC Plate and then a qualified vehicle, so a bit of a different dynamic. In So-Cal, also heard this is the case in other markets, is there an Uber Black / Uber Lux waitlist and fleet companies are the only way now to get on to Uber Black / Lux? What do they charge typically?
Heard good things about the Aviator but depends on the price and model year? In other words it’s a good car, but would need the other info to determine if it’s a good investment for Uber Black
Good question, on Uber’s website it says the vehicle’s model year must be “no older than 5 years” (ie in 2024 that would be 2019+). However, as of now, they don’t strictly enforce that on January 1st so a 6 year old model (in our experience) can still do Uber Black trips for months into the year. Obviously, as you probably know, Uber can change their minds about enforcement. Hope that helps!
On the list it says Porche Macan is allowed uber black but Macan Turbo is NOT allowed Uber black. However EVERY SINGLE Macan model has a turbo engine. Actually, there is no such thing as a Porche vehicle that does not have a turbo engine. Now I don't know what to do. I guess I have to call them. But it would be better if it was just laid out clearly by them!!
100% 👍 Uber is not that great with classifying vehicles, understanding differences in models. If possible try to get confirmation in writing (email or in-app message)
Just spoke to an UberBlack NYC driver to confirm the below (as of Dec 2024). NYC Uber Black rates are $2.06 per mile and $0.63 per minute within the City. If you go outside of the City the per minute goes up to $0.68, but the per mile rate stays the same. For UberX NYC it's $1.36 per mile ($1.58 per mile going outside of NYC) and $0.60 within NYC ($0.68 outside of NYC).
Yes, you can use a BMW M550 / M5 as an Uber Black vehicle in most markets. Remember, model year has to be within 6 years. For example, latest model year that qualifies in 2025 would be 2019, in 2026 it would be 2020, etc. Would *NOT* recommend this vehicle for Uber Black (in NYC at least) - too expensive to buy, too expensive to maintain or repair, not that great on gas, doesn't have access to Uber Black SUV or XL. Our recommendation for Uber Black would be a 1-2 year old certified pre-owned / clean CARFAX Chevy Suburban or a Cadillac XT6. Try not to spend more than $50,000 on a vehicle.
Based on the latest list all 2019+ Suburban models are eligible for Uber Black, Black SUV and Comfort - www.uber.com/global/en/eligible-vehicles/?city=new-york. Hope that helps 👍
According to Uber’s current NYC vehicle eligibility list it *cannot* do Uber Black, only Uber Comfort (www.uber.com/global/en/eligible-vehicles/?city=new-york), so not sure how that’s possible 🤷. Only QX80 is Uber Black and Uber Black SUV eligible
We have not heard that, but if we do, we we'll let you know. Uber does have bad habit of removing vehicles from Uber Black or randomly / suddenly changing its Uber Black list. Given EV mandates we would be surprised if they removed the Model Y from Black given how popular it is. Only other reason they would remove it, is if a lot of Uber Black customers started complaining. Just some thoughts.
They haven’t officially put it on the list, but our guess would be yes, given XC90 qualifies for Black and SUV. Before you purchase would message or email them or wait until they update their list given it’s a big investment 👍
@@AutoMarketplace Yes, because this car is not available for reservation yet, and the size of the car is the same as the XC90, so I also feel qualified to black cars and SUVs.
Officially December 31, 2025. However, Uber probably won’t be extremely strict about enforcing the exact 6 year requirement on New Years Day (at least they aren’t now). Would say you’re probably good until March to June 2026 (if you’re lucky might be longer!)
Apologies for the delay. Right now, Uber lists the 2024 Lexus TX 350 as being eligible for Comfort and Black, but not XL of Black SUV. Does the TX have 3 rows? Third row accessible via middle area between captain seats?

What do you think about using Lincoln aviator for uber black
Heard good things about the Aviator but depends on the price and model year? In other words it’s a good car, but would need the other info to determine if it’s a good investment for Uber Black
