I guess the Betty scene is also uplifting, but 400 years of loneliness and fear is a lot scarier then being rejected, so it hit different, least to me.

This is so TRUE because unlike other LN, such as Sword Art Online, The Irregular at Magic High School, In Another World with Smartphone, and Rise of the Shield Hero where main protagonist always or sometimes appear in the Book cover, Subaru has not appeared at all in Re:Zero LN book cover as we know so far.
This is the sign that Subaru is a very special main protagonist in the history of LN!

I was just starting to go through OCD when Re:Zero Season 2 started in 2020. When Re:Zero S2 was done, the opening for the 2nd part of Season 2, named Long Shot somehow described how much longer I would be dealing with NO PROGRESS in my OCD. And I told myself that one day, when I randomly remember this song after a long time of forgetting and feel like listening to it....that would be when my recovery from OCD would really begin or have already started. And here I am now...2 years later after a VERY LONG SHOT. Still recovering but I only remembered this song because I started to feel even some levels of recovery and things are finally looking up again. It's been long and very painful. But I know I'm just saying something thats not really important to other people but it is to me. Thank you Re:Zero, as cheesy as this sounds for being my guiding light and teaching me so much about well me. And yes...Emilia's character development in this season was absolutely wonderful. This whole season was absolutely wonderful and I will never forget about it because it came to me at a time when things became very uncertain with the pandemic and my OCD, the thing that destroyed so much of my life. And well, helped me through the hardest parts of the pandemic and taught me so much.

and Ishigami a supporting male character in a romcom who had one breakthrough scene and a sad backstory ahead of Subaru, a complex character with ups and downs throughout the whole series, and character development that still transforms in the story. and also a sad backstory.
in the end, it's a just popularity contest with lots of simps and SJW voting, it has nothing to do with how GOOD an anime or character is, it's all just bull, and they call it ''a matter of opinion'' smh

Everything I read about this anime season is people saying nothing can compete with Attack on Titan. Listen AoT is fire but.... I think I need to admit to myself, Re: Zero is a master class anime and is now at the top of my entire list, and I don't see AoT topping it.

I definitely agree, for what it's worth, one is a lot more bombastic and traditionally hype, those new 2 episodes of AoT were some of the most hype I've seen. And yet purely enjoyment and appreciation wise, I just realized recently how much Re: Zero was apart of my life, and how much I love it. For me, Emilia is the best girl after Satella (without the ego of the envious witch). She even helped Subaru when she first met Subaru. Don't forget, unlike other heroines, Emilia is the one heroine who has never killed Subaru in any timeline. People might hate Emilia because she often acts childish. But they forgot that Emilia was actually still a child mentality after being released from the ice prison that had locked her up for 100 years. In short Emilia is truly a pure-hearted girl.
Because of that, I put Emilia as the best girl after Satella. Then why did Satella become the #1 best girl? Satella is a mysterious girl who is the core of the story re zero where she takes Subaru to another world. In addition, without realizing it, Satella is actually a girl who always helps Subaru from behind the scenes by giving him the ability to return from the dead that keeps Subaru alive. Even with all her sacrifices, Satella does not expect to be reciprocated by Subaru and only hopes that Satella dies at the hands of her beloved Subaru at the end of her encounter during anime season 2.
Emilia has killed subaru once in the pride IF story, the IF stories are basically routes showing what would happen if subaru made different choices, she kills him in the very end and he surprisingly does not return by death.... Very intriguing if you ask me... (Subaru just went full on op villain mode in pride IF, setting the royal capital on fire, getting rid of all the royal candidates, killing all sin archbishops, would definitely recommend)

You see, I'm only referring to Satella, not the jealous witch even though the two of them are actually bound to each other in one body.

emilia's character development is one of the best
This song is really beautiful. Without a doubt it is the best ending of Re: Zero and one of the most sentimental of all the anime. It makes me sad to see how time passes and not be able to do anything to stop it compared to Subaru.
