My wife got me one of these (24 ga) for my birthday. Came bowed, dented and scratched, doors wouldn’t stay closed because of all the bends. For almost $500 shipped, I expected much more. We took it back to the local Home Depot:
Did you get another one? If so how is it holding up? Are the doors sturdy?
@@truthisweareallgonnadie.it’s ass. Get a Seville ultra HD for half the price or the big wide body for under $600 still
This is so helpful! Thank you. You helped me decide to get the heavier duty. As far as building your own- I love the look of the steel, plus all the versatility. You do you. Buying these gives you a little more time with those helpers I saw in the video. 😉
I have 5 of the RTA cabinets in Red...If you only got 2 shelves, they shorted you 1...all cabinets have 3 shelves
One thing I've noticed over the years is the hardness of the steel used, today it's very soft, easily dented and bent. Cabinets and shelves from things my grandfather had are many times harder for the similar thickness of sheets.
I ended up going to Lowe's because they had the Craftsman version almost 1/2 priced, so I bought 2 of them. I know you said you'd get the welded model, but the price was too good on these to pass up AND -- Pro Tip -- Lowe's has a FREE assembly which was awesome!! Great idea on the casters! Added them for about $40 per cabinet. Thanks for the content!
Do you notice that on the taller cabinets, when you “lock” them with the key you can easily put a small screwdriver in the center and lift up the locking arm defeating the lock in the cabinet really easily. I haven’t found a way to make them more secure? Such a shame because at this price point I would expect to be locked securely.
I have 5 of the RTA Cabinets...not one dent or scratch
He probably had them shipped to his house.
@PatriotDIY Can you provide a link for the black baskets that are hanging on the inside of the doors on the peg board?
Whoever mentioned their cabinets sway...did you square it up and then tighten all the bolts on the back?
Good video. I think attached to a wall would add some rigidity. I could see owning one of these. Looking now to see if you have a review on the Husky shelves.
I have a similar cabinet and purchased casters with stems to fit / screw into the receptacles instead of the feet that were included. I would have preferred all four casters be able to swivel instead of two casters but Home Depot did not offer that option. The cabinet does sway side to side, have you experienced the same? I would like to somehow reinforce the areas on the interior of the cabinet where the sides meet the top and bottom. If you did reinforce your cabinet I would be more than curious to see what you used and where.
Thank you for posting the video.
No plastic on the ones from Vietnam...23 gauge and shelves are reinforced
A lot of horror stories of dented Heavy Duty cabinets arriving at homes. I would guess the boxed RTA should arrive in better shape, but that's only a guess, because it may not even be happening during shipping.
I just ordered mine to be shipped to the store. They will arrive on pallets and be handled more carefully. UPS and FedEx just toss them around.
We’re finding that it’s super wobbly and not very sturdy. We didn’t do the wheels, we installed the feet that came with them. Is this something you found or have a recommendation for?
@Levelupwithleavitt Mines not wobbly but if I remember right the feet are adjustable
Those wheels are not intended for use with the freestanding tall cabinets. They are only for the base cabinets.
The left door won’t stick to the magnet after the door fell. What ways can I unbend the metal so the door may connect to the magnet?
Great job on the video. Thanks.
Local auction house has a ton of these with dents and scratches. Bad job packaging and shipping
I will say that the ones from Vietnam are better than the ones from China
Wheel kits are not compatible with your cabinet because of the tipping hazard due to its height.
LOL
I would like the heavy-duty but I have to get the cheapest.
What are you?
I don't understand the question?
@@PatriotDIY don't know what to tell you pay it no mind😆
Kinda boring till the kids showed up...
🚨🚨🚨AYOOOO ?!!!??🫨💀
