GG. Nice to see you try this opening out. 8...g5!? as played by Ivanchuk, Morozevich and Svidler is also the move I suggested in the lichess study. Best for White is probably 9. h3 Bg7 10. 0-0 Nxe5 and only now 11. Nxg5. I got this position on the board only 2 days ago against GM Belkhodja in a blitz tournament. That game went 11...d5 12. b3 Bd7 13. f4 Ng6 (13...h6) 14. d4 cxd3 15. Bxd3 and here Black had the interesting manœuvre ...Nc8 - d6 to cover f7 and castle queenside. Hope to see you play this some more !
A new move...can't say I'm intrigued by it. Taking the Q off d-file on move 2 and maybe having to move the Q again if gets chased from c7 later...loses some tempi when black has better developing moves to play instead.
It's more just to get opponents into something unexpected and play some fresh new positions. It may not be objectively completely sound in every line but these options are more fun to explore
c7 is the right square for the Queen in a great many variations of the Sicilian. Playing it on move 2 allows White to obtain a good advantage in certain specific lines but good luck coming up with those using only general principles !
What do you think is the best way to counter the sicilian for white? I would like something rather simple and effective against most sicilians, there's too much theory and variations there lol
@@MoltonChess I am 1700 rated so I guess higher intermediate. I have used the alapin before a few times, so I think I'll continue using it then. thanks
This I why I don't spend money on opening videos. There is always a wise guy like you.
👍

How did you get the sound of the pieces when they move, and when they are captured?
Hmm not the software just captured the background sound. I just turned the sound settings on in chess.com
Wow I rarely see the Quinteros on ChessTube 🤣 the only time I’ve ever seen it was in one J Polgar game… 🤣🙏
😃
Judit was one of the pioneers !

Perhaps choose an Anti Sicilian. I would suggest Grand Prix, Smith Morra or Alapin for beginners/intermediate level

Bb5 Sicilian is another good option as well
