Sui-chan battling world no. 2 player and no. 1 just watching her from the sideline all while talking with her viewers, seriously this moment was truly legendary!
how did u know the no 1 was watching? also its like that anime moment where masters decided to come down to your realm and kick your ass to discipline u. all it takes is one master to beat u up and the rest just watches lol
Worth noting also, T99's world #5 at the time (uyeshota) was also in that game. And though he'd go on to be a much more longer lived and successful pro Tetris player than Roy...he's still holding that L to Suichan.
would be interesting if the top ranks or at least the top10 are familiar with each other and the top1 and 2 just decided to streamsnipe and mess with her lol
That sounds like something straight from an anime, where the number 2 is playing with the newbie while the number 1 watches from the sidelines and while he wins the new guy still manages to surprise everyone by managing to survive that long "Well done kid" says the number two cleaning a small cut on his cheek "That girl she has... Potential"
Suisei is a phenomenal Tetris player, but there's no shame in getting wrecked by someone in the world wide top 10 rankings. Those people are absolute monsters.
@Luminote the fact that he was basically playing handicapped without the buffs you get from kills and still beaten her with considerable amount of advantage is just nuts.
Going up against top 10 Tetris players is like showing up for a 1v1 standoff with a smoothbore flintlock and the other guy pulls up in an AH-64 Longbow Apache
Reminds me of those martial arts movies/ shows/ anime where the spectators see a close fight, but the martial artists in the match are fighting on another level, seeing the tactics and moves ten steps ahead, and because of that, they both understand there was actually a wide difference in skill despite it looking like there was an even back and forth.
you could actualy see in that stream that suisei had no chance at all. despite being at a level disadvantage and not doing anything for over a minute her opponent beat her in just a few seconds after attacking. shows you just how big of a difference there is between the worlds top players and hobby players like suisei.
- Strongest Tetris player among her peers - Battled against world #2 player while #1 watched (Imagine #1 watching from behind the glass in tournament VIP thing) - was streaming while battling #2. Handicapped. - Denied that she can keep up with a pro even without handicap. - Can keep up only because of the timing of the emblems (PLOT ARMOR) - Explained that the pros play differently - Comparison of POWER LEVELS SUISEI IS A SHONEN PROTAG
"It means I was in a slight handicap!" The other time Suisei got handicapped (trying to get used to the controls in that case) was when amemiyataiyou beat her
There's also the fact that while she lost, Suisei still put up a damn good fight against that Rank 2 player and didn't immediately get annihilated. That in itself is more than commendable.
Honestly i think the impressive thing is that most people would be happy to be acknowledged by the 2nd best player in the world but suisei is instead frustrated from losing to him instead. She's seriously an anime protagonist aiming to be the best.
From how I saw it, Suisei thought she could at least breach the opponent's defense with her badge advantage, but in reality she could not do anything in that 1v1 but to stall for time.
There's also where doremy who is also a single digit (i think it was top 5 at that time[?] And top osu player) Also sniped her during that years She's truly like an protagonist of tetris anine plot
Seen some crazy set up of tetris and looking back to this fight I can understand why Suisei think she's had no chance of winning. Seriously people. Go watch top-tier player do tetris and you will see that Suisei is still far away.
The most anime thing didn't get mentioned, while Suisei was battling Roy (2nd rank), the no. 1 tetris player was watching the stream! It would've truly been Iconic if the no. 1 joined Roy and they just duked it out while Suisei was just chilling being no. 3 in that game round.
Idk about you but I still think that the fact she went against 99 people at once and got 2nd place by the end is amazing enough as is. Even if she wasn't 1st place the fact that out of 99 she ended defeating 98 is incredible in my opinion.
Due to the way the game works, if the single player is good enough to survive the beginning of a 1v98, they're actually at a massive advantage and can murder the field at will. It took bringing in the gods to stop what was essentially a free dub.
Lol slight "handicapped". But wasn't actually the opposite the case? Iirc suisei had superior amount of badget that multiplies her trash sent since she killed so many in the lobby but even that was only enough to stall him at least for a bit more time. Tetris gods are indeed on another whole level.
Sadly, this is true. The skill ceiling for Tetris is unbelievably high, and T99 doesn't really show it. Tetris 99 is not a really good indicator of individual Tetris skill because the game has many gimmicks, the randomness of 99 other players, and it is simply not as fast-paced as other Tetris games, including Tetris Online which Suisei used to play (likely lost permissions as the server is run unofficially). Suisei once said her 40 line time was 40 seconds, which is blazing fast. But it doesn't touch the top 1000 for the faster clients, and probably not even top 100 for the slower ones.
@@ironminer93 A lot of Suisei's issues are in having to unlearn old habits that worked to dominate at a lower level, but are easily read by more skillful players. We've seen she has that 2+ pps speed when she played TOP, but she didn't develop any consistent APM outside of spikes/openers until after pros started sniping in. And she only got off the "20s doom combo" after Haachama punished her for spamming it. And so on...
I wonder if Suisei could defeat Roy now with the badge advantage she had at the time. She's gotten a lot better since then. Also, anyone that thinks she can beat Roy or anyone at that level on even footing, WITHOUT the badge advantage, is Gura'ing hard.
People underestimate just how much of a big gap there is between top players on tetris an suisei, realistically suisei is like slightly above average at best, but to people that know nothing about the game thinks it's so crazy because they haven't seen modern tetris before. Guidelines game top players I can name are furea, kazu, and uyeshota. I would recommend watching those people to just see the sheer gap there is. For no limit games go watch blaarg, diao, cz, and firestorm.
I don't think so, even if it was top 50 or top 100's I'd have a hard time believing it. Besides last time she played she had more badges then him in the game mode iirc. Also this was the No. 2. The second! ranked Tetris player in the whole world we're talking about, I'm havent the slightest clue about how tetris rankings work, but I have no doubt in my mind that there can be some days whether or not Roy (2nd ranker) is better then no. 1 occasionally or rarely off screen.
