This was super helpful, thank you. This may have been mentioned, but my Chromebook kept rebooting as I was going through the recovery process. Turns out it was caused by bluetooth interference. I repeated the process from another room and it worked pefectly.

Listen!!! NOTHING and I do mean NOTHING was working. The dang on thing got stuck in recovery mode. Got a new charger well I used a friend's phone charger. It kept cutting on off like going nuts. Yall they mean what they say! you can not use a phone charger unless it has enough voltage. My computer is just fine now i am beyond excited. But now the apps are stuck downloading.. I dont give rat's tail!! im just so happy that my laptop is not broken. I just got this thing. Thanks so much for these vids man..you just dont know how many lives youre changing rolmbooo

Thanks for this video. The Powerwash option didn't work at all, I tried it twice and still wasn't able to sign in with my original account without it crashing during the sign in process (only as a guest or testing with a second account) but neither the device, the official documentation or the answers from experts to people with this problem on the official forums suggested recovery via firmware reset as an option, so didn't know it exited until I watched this (but figured there had to be a way to do that as the Powerwash option clearly doesn't actually reset the device to factory settings, as advertised).

So my ASUS laptop stopped working like it turned off randomly so I thought it died and it only takes an hour for it to charge fully and it didn’t charge and it won’t turn back on no matter how many times I tried I thought that I didn’t plug the charger in fully so I left it charged for one night and it still won’t turn on I’ve been searching videos on how to turn an ASUS laptop back on non helped do you have any idea on how to help with this?

Oooh I'm so mad!! Unbelievable!!! My laptop has literally not worked for a year! Sent it to Asus and they refused to cover the warranty saying my charging ports where damaged. They wanted y
$200 and I said no!! Why would I give you more of my money and you are erroneously saying I damaged my laptop? Stuck it in the closet came across this video and low and behold my laptop is fixed!!!

What about the the error message of can’t read/write to the disk?
To turn os verification off press enter ...Then screen will reboot return the same option not seen the enter space bar option

Ctrl-d let me turn ChromeOS verification OFF, but I need it back on again! Ctrl-d only worked once. (Apparently I'm in Developer mode now and I need to get out to have Verification On again) Black screen only except for esc-refresh-power brings white recovery screen. Tried recovery with pen drive but even thought it said it worked. (Success) It still didn't work. It said I needed to have Verification On and it was still OFF. SO, how to turn on again with black screen is where I'm stuck. Any help? Thx!
So i have an issue. I did the reset and it worked i did the ctrl D and went thrkugh the whole proocess. My laptop worked for a day and now im back at the Insert recovery usb screen (i do Not have a usb drive) so again i tried the ctrl D (which previously worked) and it wont work. Im either stuck on a innsert usb screen or a flashing black screen. I have let the laptop battery completely die sit amd recharged it wothout touching it. Still wont work. I can change the language on the usb screen and i can keep resetjng it with the keyboard so i know the keys are working. I was hoping you could point me in some kind of direction. My chrome is an asus and wont respond to anything no mouse its freezed cant shut etc... please help
For a computer that wont turn off, press and hold the power button for up to a minute to turn the computer off. If that fails, remove the battery and unplug the power adapter to force a shut down. What happens after that, when you try to turn the computer on?
I don't want to remove battery so I unplugged and went to sleep then plugged it in waited 5 minutes then turn on and it works! Btw I use asus cromebook! Thanks though

What happens when you try to save to the USB? Do you get an error message of some kind? Can you do the reverse and see any files on the USB?

My chromebook says "Let's step you through the recovery process" "select how you'd like to recover. You can recover using external storage such as a USB drive or an SD card." My options are "Recovery using external storage" or "Launch diagnostic" or "advance options" or "Power off" and I clicked ctrl+D, whenever I click that it pops up "Developer mode is already turned on." And I don't know what to do. Please help me!!!😥

I pressed the escape and refresh and power button but it’s turned on for a split second then immediately turned right back off to a black screen and it keeps doing it no matter what

How can I stop the system from powering on when I flip the screen?
My chrome book Asus c223 n won't power on. The display keeps flashing on and off.I,used the recovery stick 6 times to no avail ! I bought it 7 months ago. I'm so stumbled ? Help please.🇨🇦 😫 ✌
If the display keeps flashing, then it sounds like the computer is actually turning on. Are you able to try hooking it up to an external monitor? Does the flashing continue there?
What if after powerwash it freezes in the initial screen?
Then I would guess that the reset didnt complete. I would try again.
Doesnt work it just goes back to the same page, it doesnt even reboot i have to manually start it, i tried almost everything
No luck. It's a green flashing light. Nothing will happen. I tried method 1 and 2. I used another charger and cable. I let it charge all day, with that and the original charger. Nothing works so far. And when I google for ASUS c302 green light flashing... no one seems to know what to do!

Okay here's the deal. I tried everything you just said and nothing happens. It's only 6 months old and the battery is good. Every single website that I've gone on repeats the same things and nothing works.. I didn't drop it I didn't damage it in any way. I'm thinking I've wasted my money on buying this laptop I'm learning about this black screen of death. Every single person says oh it worked for me but mine does not.
Are there any signs of life at all when you try to turn it on? Lights? Fan, Motherboard, or Hard Drive sounds? Anything seen on the screen?

If none of these options work, then you may need a new motherboard :( They are cheaper than you may think though :) Ebay, Amazon, etc

You have a Chromebook correct? Are there any files stored on your computer or are they all online?
Some are online and I also have files on my computer
I got my laptop to work again, I simply turned it off after it showed the screen and everything was still there, i find it strange though because the other methods did not work. Thank you a lot for your video!

Unfortunately it did not work thanks anyway. Had to wait for the laptop to run out of power. Tried control alt shift r together and separately, held down esc refresh power, held down just the power button, and power button and refresh. Nothing.
Was all still stuck on a frozen screen and pointer with a short loop of a song playing in the background. 😅
None of these methods worked for my Chromebook. It’s an asus Chromebook Runing GalliumOS. I want to do a factory reset and install the chrome browser so I can watch Netflix party with friends.

If none of this works, then you most likely need to replace the motherboard :( However, motherboards for those computers are usually much cheaper than you would think :) Need help finding one?

Chromebooks are only for specific uses. If those are not your needs, then yes, you most likely need a regular Windows computer.
