Bro, zero means nothing . Let's suppose you are sitting at a place A, and you keep sitting there for an eternity . What will be your displacement and distance from place A, then? They will obviously be zero . Also, modulus is not just about giving positive answers , it's the measure of a distance, and distances CAN be zero.

but if you are moving in the opposite direction of the origin, u can say u walked -80 meters from 100 meters, then ur at 20m from origin 0 meter
Explanation - This is displacement, which can be negative too cuz it has direction, Distance does not has direction so its a scaler quantity and is positive
