Curly and Meadowlark Lemon's antics caused me to play basketball in high school. The good Ole 70s. Curly was the goat, so very good.

early 60's Oakland auditorium saw the Trotters , I was already in love with the game then to see the HG's put on the show WOW factor was real. Neal's dribbling Meadowlark making 2 of 3 half court hook shots ,all the passing the inter action with the fans made basketball even better . Bucket list see them again.

Something on the TV triggered me to Google search Curly to see how he was doing and where he was living. And unfortunately, I see he passed away in 2020... In the 90s, I would see him all the time in Oviedo, Fl. He was one of the nicest people you could meet. He would always stop and speak with us and ask how we we're doing and asked how we we're doing in school. Such a nice and caring guy! Curlys wikipedia needs someone to add to it! Such a shame that someone as famous as he was, barely has anything for people to read about his career/ life... RIP Curly.

Curly Neal was my favorite basketball player of any team in any league anytime. I will never forget when the Globe Trotters came to my grade school when they were in town. It was Curly Neal, Meadowlark Lemon and Baby Face Paige. We had an assembly in the gym where they did their thing and they gave out a bunch of free tickets to their game that night. I will never forget how incredible it was to see them up close and in person. It had a huge impact on me as a young kid. I’ve made sure to take my kids to see the Globe Trotters.

I remember when they came to Muskegon Michigan in the early eighties and I kept looking for curly and that bald head.. he wasn't introduced with the team.. he was wearing a wig and sweeping the floor as his teammates were being introduced. And then he pulled the wig off and his cover up shirt off...
He pulled little kids out of the audience and did basketball tricks with them and they just smiled ear to ear..

Youngsters Mr Neal was AI but never palmed the ball. Pat the ball so fast you couldnt keep count. Curry , Irving , wish they had the handles he did.
