I've always heard that wild animals, even the oned used to human company, should still be kept at a safe distance because they remain unpredictible.

Stamina actually is quite bad. Cheetahs are best as jokers: Substitute one in in the last few minutes and kitty will turn a 0-3 to a 4-3 win.
