      @@gugzy It is a shame, I do see where people are coming from regarding the dangers of counterfeit guitar selling. However I'd never look down on someone for buying a knockoff for price reasons, especially given that old Dimebag guitars are getting increasingly unattainable for most players. Plus you could get a headstock logo changed to clearly mark it as a replica, and if someone unscrupulous decided to sell it as legit then you would've at least done your due diligence in not trying to scam someone. Ultimately it's your call though if you wanna make the video dude. I'll be hear at least to be positive about it, and I'm sure at least a few other netizens would too.
      If you would like a new logo, I've got a modified version of the Washburn Dime design. It's a bit silly, but it's an option if you ever want to get a new one for your guitar. :)

    • @gugzy
      @gugzy  3 месяца назад +1

      @@MT_800thanks for the offer. I’ve approached my guitar tech to sand it back and get rid of the logo altogether. The headstock will either be black or I’ll see if I can get him to colour match the blue fade, though that’ll be tough. I did not foresee the backlash…

      Perhaps you should play one of these before you knock it. You may be surprised; I certainly was. Even if it didn't have potential, it's still beautiful and a relatively 'cheap' piece of art to hang. Fortunately, it plays and sounds just fine.

      @@gugzy Sorry man, its a fake. I am not against being budget conscious or even feeling contentious about what some of the brands are doing to all if us with their ridiculous pricing, but I'm not for stealing either. Spin it any way - its someone stealing from someone else. Have the maker take off the badging and put their own on it, then I might be interested. We can all argue that using the body design is the same thing. Thats something that the design engineers can testify to in court - at least the guitar isnt being represented as something that it is not - if we are all being honest, that guitar doesnt sell at near the volume that would make it worth producing if the Washburn/Dimebag badging isnt on it. No one is paying $300-$400 to hang a non-branded guitar on the wall as "art". Thanks for the vid though.

    Thank you for the video, it helped me a lot. I've been thinking a lot lately about buying dime-shaped guitar. I was thinking of buying the original one, but hell no, they are SO expensive. So replica is my chose.
    What you can say about fret wood? Is it good? I've seen some terrible fret wood (they were almost like plastic lol). And what about the frets themselves? Are they polished? Like, is it genuinely comfortable to play?
    Also, you're very good on guitar. Do you have any intention in making some playing-vids or smth?

      Thanks for the kind words mate. Regarding future vids, do you mean playing along to track or showing people how play tracks or things I do? I’m happy to do it if people would like to see it.
      The guitar is great. As I’ve mentioned, all the hardware needs to be replaced and I think it’s wise to get a tech to give it a fret dress, check the neck relief, adjust the nut; a good thorough setup.
      The fret board is fine, but the fret could have done with a tidy up and a decent polish.
      Good luck with your guitar!

    I appreciate the time, effort and expense to make the video and mean no disrespect to Greg, the video actually makes the point - buy a sh*t fake guitar, spend more money than the guitar costs to put real branded hardware on it, spend money for tech work to install everything if you can't, deal with finish issues in the present or the future, and at the end of the day...its still a fake. Fast forward, it ends up in the hands of someone that puts its on FB Marketplace and sells it as authentic under the guise that they "dont know much about it" or they are "selling it for a friend" to some unsuspecting buyer that drops a load of money on a fake guitar. Sounds like a good time to me. I will never understand why anyone would buy a fake guitar. There are plenty of manufacturers in the marketplace that sell like body styles with pride enough to put their own name on the headstock for budget prices; Iyv, Leo Jaymz, Harley Benton, etc. To add insult to injury, its a lot of the same people that curse made in China goods that buy this garbage. If you ask me, this is an insult to Dime - when you buy one of these guitars, you allow someone to steal Dime's artistry and genius for their own gain.

    • @gugzy
      @gugzy  3 месяца назад +1

      That’s a fair call. I agree with pretty much everything you said. It is a fake and had some issues but after a small investment it’s quite capable. I don’t have the income to warrant purchasing a true Dime guitar. So these was my only option… however, if I did get another one I wouldn’t get the ‘Dime’ logo on it… I get it, it’s just not right. This guitar won’t be sold on…

      @@gugzy Thanks for the civil reply. Normally I get called names or have assumptions made about my political standing or a combination of the two. I really dont give a sh*t about corporations, but earning value and loyalty as a brand has to count for something. Here is how I see it - if the makers are good enough to build the guitar, they should have enough pride (and integrity) to put their own name on it - but they dont...because no one will buy it unless it says Gibson or Fender or EVH of whatever real brand they choose to fake. Anyone that says they would still buy the "Greeny" fake without the Gibson logo on it is not telling the truth. Just sayin'. Thanks again for the video. I know these take time and effort - and courage (obviously). I look forward to catching up on your past content and seeing your future content.

    • @gugzy
      @gugzy  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks mate, the way I see things is that it doesn’t hurt to be kind. I totally agree that a company’s name is important and loyalty will come (if the product is good). When I asked to get my guitar made, I actually asked for there to be no logo on it. But when I got some photo updates, I saw that the logo had been put on. I had already waited 6 months and was tired of waiting and just accepted it.
      My intention was not to ruffle feathers, simply to let people know what they were getting themselves into 😂
