- It's been many years since Dr. Mallard (David McCallum) had seen his brother Nicholas (Sewell Whitney); in fact, he was under the impression his brother had died. The two find their way back to one another, and although Nicholas has dementia, he does indeed remember Ducky.

Does anyone in your family suffer from
This terrible disease?
My late grandmother. She died in 2018. Hadn't seen her four years prior because she lost memory of who I, my sisters, and even my mom were. So I was more prepared for this one
@@CrimeScenes. so many of my relatives. Both of my grandfathers, as well as my nana.
My aunt was in first stages. There's dementia in my family. My older half-sister had it, before she died, this year.
My mom does two years now and she has early stages of Alzheimer’s disease it sucks 🥺🥺
Yes my Gm - grandma
Imagine a nurse telling you that your long lost brother will most likely not remember you, only for them to demonstrate the exact same thing you used to do as kids, and calling out your name..... it must be such a relief and unfathomable gift
Imagine the nurse seeing this and what’s going through her head after telling Ducky that.
Sadly she's more often right. This is a dramatization, real life is more cruel. These scenes are not representative of the majority of cases.
My friends grandmother couldn't remember the name of her husband she was with for 50 years when he died. She just wondered "where did that nice man go?".
It was was heartbreaking.
@@lohphat My late Grandma struggled with names, she never forgot mine though. Looking somewhat like my grandfather helped I think.
and i thought they REMEMBERED their past but not the present
Old memories live longest
I miss Ducky so much. He was the Heartbeat of NCIS. When he passed, a small part of our hearts died with him as fans of NCIS🕊
I have been a devoted NCIS fan since the pilot episode...
@@therarestphoenix5254 I miss Ducky too. He truly was the heart of the NCIS team !!! He was a father figure to the agents and Abby especially. And the great David McCallum always did such a beautiful marvelous job of playing. RIP David and Ducky !!! This world will never see your like again !!?
@@johnmurray8835 the brother and uncle mustve had the same
me too. I've been watching the series since the first episode. And with the death of David/Ducky, part of the series also goes. As Ducky, he always had the right words to comfort someone, to encourage someone, or to express his opinion clearly. To some he was probably something like a father.
@@robbie4869 Ducky was the only one who could handle Gibbs 😄
@@therarestphoenix5254 you mean he's the only one Gibbs didn't hit on when he was in a bad mood? Well, they both started at the same time. So it was a sign of respect
I think it's quite miraculous that despite his Dementia, the brother *still* remembered Ducky after all those years.
Dementia patients often remember things that are far, far back, but struggle with more recent stuff.
I remember watching this the night it premiered. I cried because my late great-grandmother (my maternal grandmother's mother) had dementia at the time and passed in late 2019 at 91. I was blessed to have her for over 22 years in my life. Even at the very end, on her deathbed, she had the rare blessing of identifying us all correctly by name and telling us all she loved us. Her moment of total clarity that defines the end-stage of Alzheimer's had already passed 2 weeks before she did this. Her last words to me alive were "I love you, too, honey. You take care of yourself, you hear?" I miss her dearly.
My ex girlfriend's grandfather was similar. The night before he died in his sleep, he had a moment of lucidity, I still remember her mother telling me how his final words to her were, "it's ok, this is how the game is played." He was ready, surrounded by family.
I imagine Dr Palmer visits Ducky's brother in his stead, showing that Ducky's family is his!
A beautiful moving scene from one of the best see shows EVER !!!! I got chills when Ducky 's brother recognized him !!!
Man, if this storyline doesn't nail you right in the heart, then you ain't got one. Beautiful. RIP, David. Miss you as Ducky. 💔
This is my FAVORITE Ducky episode of all time. There are others but I love this one the most.
I was amazed with how well they cast Young Ducky. I could totally see him as a young version of David McCallum.
@@feliciatierney2265 Oh yeah and since we're getting NCIS: Origins, I think that's what it's call, we might see him and Young Gibbs again since they worked together on a case.
Jimmy is a good successor to Ducky, but things won't be the same without Ducky. The funny stories, his fatherly manner, the way he talked to the corpses. David played this role really well for 20 years
This episode made me absolutely sob. Bless you David ❤
This scene never ceases to make me emotional, especially since it is from my favorite Dr. Mallard episode.😊❤
R.I.P. David McCallum AKA Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard😔
2:05-2:13 That was a very touching moment for Ducky.
Rip ducky you were and always is the main character of ncis the og the man thank you for all your knowledge
Rest in peace Ducky God Bless 🙏 to you and your families and friends 😊❤
I'm choked up, bittersweet tears of a special love.
So sad hearing this story of long lost brother, not finding him for so long. Best Christmas present could give Ducky
Oh goodness I’m crying again I cryed when it aired and I’m crying now so sweet
Beautiful scene. They forgot to mention his brother during the memorial scenes.
Given his brother has dementia, and possibly passed away before him, they didn't say much about him. That's just my opinion.
But, the train car is featured for a moment. It was sort of a silent tribute to him.
Probably passed away since ducky had the train back
david mccallum those whom are old enough to remember man from from uncle
That's U.N.C.L.E.
If only he was in the movie.
they actually mentioned it in one episode when Gibbs answers the question, "what did Ducky looked like when he was younger" and he replies, "Illya Kuryakin"
@@Jerseybytes2 I saw that episode and it cracked me up because Mark Harmon played it off so naturally.
And an episode from seaquest
the uncle mother AND brother all suffered the same
bu he remembers his brother's name which is miraculous
but
This episode was so amazing. Especially with the actor playing young Ducky.
I Miss Ducky , He Will Always Be In Our Hearts !!!
David McCallum also played Judas Iscariot in The Greatest Story ever Told which was released in 1965
There were two characters in this show that I loved, First and foremost was Duckie (Dr. Mallard) cause he reminded me a lot of my grandfather with his ways and actions, also coming in at #1 is Abby. She tech skills and how she handled things was top notch.
This episode of NCIS is my favorite One😊❤
A heartbreaking, loving scene
We all need a feel good once in awhile
he was something like the good soul of the series. Rest in peace Ducky
Rest in peace Ducky. You old best friend.
I'm glad so glad i've received personalized signature and letter of David.
He seemed like such a nice guy in his letter
I miss Ducky in NCIS
Me too. NCIS isn’t the same anymore without David McCallum and Dr Mallard.
@@ianmintz12806 right Gibs go out the show too he's too old.
I also miss him plus Abby and Tony. What episode is this from?
Such a great show. Great characters. ❤❤❤
Ducky was a goat. One of the best characters.miss him.
Nicholas' mother was such a sick, twisted woman to take Nicholas away from his big brother and their father when Nicholas was a child. It has yet to be revealed if he did get married and have children. Should Nicholas be seen again, will he be told what happened to his big half-brother or not?
but she was a funny old gal nonetheless
That's a moot point now seeing as David McCallum died last year.
The woman who took Nicholas away was Ducky's stepmother, Ducky's mother was the elderly lady who lived with him in earlier series of NCIS and after whom Jimmy Palmer's daughter Victoria Elizabeth is named.
To find, and to be found......
Such a cruel disease. I know as I look after those with dementia
What a wonderful episode.
Oh my FEELS!!! 😭😭😭
On my Mt Rushmore of NCIS episodes Along with the Christopher Loyd episode
Brothers reunited
Aww, his mom, now his brother. Poor Ducky.
first time I watched this., I thought.. "couldn't you guys just be pew-pew episode, like always?!" ., but., it's a story, I didn't think I needed :')
i always thought this was detective jane but it wasnt (the mentalist(
Correct locomotive, but it's missing it's tender. Gotta carry that coal & water if you want to go anywhere!
And it makes a brief re-appearance in the tribute episode.
Episódio comovente e emocionante e final muito bom pra um personagem incrível como o dr.ducky que merece esse presente de natal
Um dos melhores episódios focado em ducky, tá fazendo muita falta na série esse grande ator
Will Dr. Mallard's younger half-brother, Nicholas, be seen again?
It would’ve been perfect if it was Robert Vaughn be a great ending
Such a sweet special episode
I’m not crying, you’re crying. 🥹🥹🥹
