Great memories. I lived in Cardonald (near Mosspark Station) but went to school in Penilee and would watch the trains two stations along from Cardonald at Hillington West during my lunch break. Often saw triple headed 37s heading for Hunterston.
I lived in Penilee, my first own flat was in Cardonald, my first local station was Hillington West, then Cardonald, used to love watching the trains rummbling past
I remember spending a day in the Holytown and Mossend area around that time. Pairs of 37s would work from Hunterston with Iron Ore, then a third 37 would pilot for the climb into Ravenscraig. On the day I was there (13th July 1989), 37111 spent the day shuttling between Mossend and Ravenscraig on pilot duties
Me too. I remember when some transferred to the North West and were regulars on the then Liverpool - Crewe stopping service. Did many trips between Lime Street and Allerton (now Liverpool South Parkway on them.
156501 was the first of the fourteen class 156s, that SPT bought, and thus 156501-14 were the only 156s new to BR that didn't carry the provincial sector livery.
Haha plenty of inter-sectorisation co-operation in this one Soi!! 2600x of the ED coal fleet on a speedlink trip and ML steel 37's on MGR! Typical of 1989 eh. (My guess is its 26007 with wonky numbers possibly being replaced, as only 26001 and 007 were in Rf Coal sector livery without any cast plates fitted). Also of note is Tinsley's 37198 in RfD (before her application of cabside cast plates, only fitted a few months later. It just so happens that i modelled 37198 in that livery and i'm quite sure i took it over to my one-time girlfriends house for her to have a play with lol, it being totally cosmic to think she would of driven that loco in ML blue off Acton in the 90's eh!!?! . . . MAD TIMES sir, mad times !!!!!!!! x
Good to see kinda local to me. Travelled from Ayr on the orange emu's to Glasgow Central... Would've been 14 when this was filmed 👍👍👍
I really do miss that lovely Strathclyde livery. So distinctive.

Indeed, and there were only 3 orange 1565XX's in service by June 1989.
