Which FPV Propeller is Best for YOU? Ethix P2 vs HQProp J33 vs J37 Prop Review

  • I set out to test the brand new FPV drone propellers from Ethix - the P2 which are also known as the 'Pickle props'. I put them up against another recently released propeller, the HQProp J33 juicy prop. And just to round things off, I compared them both to the J37. I even shared my thoughts on how they compare to the Ethix P3.3 Mango Lassi props. New vs old.... which props will come out on top!?
    My FPV drone setup:
    Frame: Supafly Juicemode
    Props: Ethix P2, HQ Prop J33 & J37 Props
    Motors: Deep Space Aether 2207.3 1960kv

    VTX: DJI O3 Air Unit
    TX + RX: TBS Tango 2 w/ TBS Crossfire

    Nice review! My 2 cents (might be different for each prop but usually it goes like this…) longer blade: more prop area => more drag => more stable, less momentum carrying; lower pitch: less propwash, less top speed => more control at lower speed

    • @fpvwithpatrick
      @fpvwithpatrick  7 дней назад +1

      That seems like a sensible analysis. And tbh, it pretty much matches what I felt. Also that's one thing someone else mentioned that I didn't talk about - drag. So much to consider with these prop stats!

  • @ATekFPV
    @ATekFPV 7 дней назад +1

    look at you whippin that thang around. I have recently been flying the J33 in cold weather with good results, I have concerns they will be too soft in warmer weather and I will be back to the J37. the clear material of the ethix style props I have found to be very rigid and breakable even though the color schemes are always spot on.

    • @fpvwithpatrick
      @fpvwithpatrick  7 дней назад +1

      I did feel a bit like the J33 were less durable when I flew them during hotter weather. They felt a bit bendy. And true about the colour schemes. The P series always have the best colours and I love the see-through-ness (you know what I mean 😂) of them. I think in colder weather these props are not so good but flying them in hotter weather I never had problems. For your fast zooming flow style I would have thought that J37 would be the perfect prop for you

    Nice review - I'm totally with you on the J33 and J37. Both my favourites and I'll fly the one which matches my build colour ;).
    The P props I only like the P4 for its increased thrust on a heavier build. I don't like the longer blade with a weak pitch. It gives more drag but mediocre thrust. Feels resistant in moves and momentum but you don't get the thrust to make it worthwhile on the lower P (P2/3/3.3/3.5) IMO...P4 is a great cinametic prop for carrying a GoPro Hero.

    • @fpvwithpatrick
      @fpvwithpatrick  7 дней назад

      That's such a good point about drag and I never considered it before. This is what I feel running the P2 - too much drag which limits the top speed. Need to get hold of some P4 to try!

  • @MerKFPV
    @MerKFPV 8 дней назад

    Great review Pat , what I am seeing and hearing is somewhat the same experience I had for the most part. P2 vs J37 , the low pitch and longer blade of the P2 felt smooth , tighter (feeling) in juicy moves (not as easy to reach rotation as J37) , and less responsive on small and quick throttle changes. Really liked them for flowing. Was happily surprised as I have not had much success with 5.1 inch props.

    Nice video and great ripping! I only ever tried the HQ J37 when I started out and was just buying bunch of different props. Liked them a lot, but only had like 2 packs. The group I was flying with convinced me to go with gemfan because of some stupid cheap deals on ali haha. So, there's that.
    By the way, have you ever tried some more absurd props? Just for shits and giggles? Would love to see a video on some more "interesting" props and whether they can freestyle :D Some ideas: Azure Power 5050 Bi-Blade (they sound ridiculous), Gemfan 51499 Hurricane Whisky (ridiculous shape and pitch), some 8 bladed props from HQ (don't remember the exact name, be careful with motor idle, a friend had issues landing because the idle kept him up in the air) and then throw in some foldable props.
