Don't go for Toshiba cameras. They're crap. Always stick with Sony lenses.
It was about to be my next phone, upgrading from the Galaxy S4, but then I looked at the camera...
Not bad but its camera reminds me of nokia 6600.
get the gs6 edge if u think its worth the extra hundred or the iphone 6 plus if u want a larger device and dont mind ios or even a nexus 6 if u can bear with the 3hr battery
I was looking forward to it, but they recycled the M8 and gave it a worse camera and a throttled overheating processor. Also, dat huge bezel! Can't they integrate the Boomsound into the edge like the Nexus 9?

I hate to call out how misleading that was, but upon waiting for it I was annoyed that it was just a Segway into a product. I mean I'm sure you actually use it. But it's an ad spot all the same. Nobody cares if you have ads bruh! Just had my hopes up for some real behind the scenes footage lol.

The HTC M9 is the "basic bitch" of flagship phones:
An aluminum body akin to a face drowned in makeup.

I never thought I would say this but I miss you saying "hey guys, this is Austin", it's kind of like adding a pinch of salt to a recipe to add a little more flavour, not like the new videos are sub par, they are fantastic in production quality, but it was something that made your videos personal, I think i'm being picky but that's my opinion, keep up the good work Austin :D

The more I look at different M9 reviews, the more I'm get disappointed.
I totally disagree with the M9 not keeping up with the S6E, Samsung just got into the metal game in the market while HTC has done 3 of those already (M7, M8 and M9), HTC were just making it better and cleaning up some flaws people didn't like about the M8, people say it's a disappointment because it didn't make a huge change like the S6 or the S6Edge. Like they say, if it ain't broken..don't fix it.
Definitely stoked to get my hands on a S6 Edge.

I saw the m9 in the store, beautiful, it's elegant and premium. The 6s edge, it's a status quo. It makes a statement that is unmatched. I have the note 4, and whenever I decide to upgrade any phone I chose must take better pix than my current. In the store I took a pic with the m9, matched it to my note 4. The pictures were crisper and the colors popped. I don't know that the average consumer would be unhappy with the m9.

It's actually my daily driver, and it hasn't let me down since. I'm not much of a picture taker and I'm confident HTC will fix the heat and battery issues with software updates (assuming such optimization is possible). Overall, I'm very satisfied with my buy, although, even I can't deny the competition looks pretty cool!
Why does no one ever seem to do a review on the Sony Xperia Z series (Z3 etc)? It's a great phone and just surprises me that no one does reviews on it (like LTT, Austin and MKBHD)

Damn his cheery mood always makes me smile even when I'm having a bad day. I use a full body aluminium gadget, and it is unbelievable how hot it can get over extended use when the room temperature is relatively on the warm side too. But, nothing a quick ceiling fan or an air conditioner can't solve. ;)
Personally, I prefer the One M7 to the other two One's out there. It has a decent camera that actually works, and while it's a bit old in current day scenarios, I still haven't found the new One's worth the upgrade from the first.
The cool thing is, when new versions of phones come out, the older but still decent phones get cheaper. So my next phone will be hopefully a One M8, m8s XDD

I was considering likely getting an M9 for my birthday (which is tomorrow), but I would not have been able to stand those drawbacks that you mentioned. Some of those problems you mentioned can only become apparent from daily use. Now I have to find a phone I'd like :)
For a while, I wanted to get the Moto X v2, but now it is 8 months old so I need to find something that is newer. Hey, could any of you fellow Austin fans give me some suggestions? :D
Drakinite I suggest the S6 or S6 Edge.
I'd suggest you the Note 4, even if it's 7 months old, I still think it's a beast.
If you don't want an "old" phone then wait for the Note 5 :)

I've had the M8 since release and just noticed the Quick Settings problem you mentioned at 3:22. I laughed when I saw the lack of space for the words. Its going to bother the hell out of me know lol! Great video austin! I'll stick with my M8!
For anyone looking for a new phone, the M8 is the way to go. M9 just came out so the price dropped. Easily the best phone on the market if you don't mind 5 inch phones!

i had a HTC M7 and i loved it! Really good looking, powerful phone, recently switch it for a Z1 Compact and i been very pleased but is not so good looking as the HTC, personally i think the M9 is a good phone, but the camera is just not enough, some phones have their pros and cons but i still think it is a pretty good!

One thing I'd want out of it is the sound. From what I understand, it's supposed to sound pretty good. I don't understand why more manufacturers don't make great sounding speakers for smartphones considering that people use phones to listen to music so much.
most of us wouldn't mind a thicker phone in exchange for a bigger battery, especially when it's non-removable and the SD Card issue doesn't affect everyone (this phone has one but s6 doesn't) but if you have a large music collection of FLAC files, that's a dealbreaker
I bought the One M9 and my Sister the Galaxy S6. Before i had the Galaxy S4 Active and i just can Say It was Worth It changing to HTC. The Lolilop Layout looks Abit Weird but now im alright Wirges it

With my M9, I'm used to the buttons now. It gets pretty hot when using the phone & the battery is somewhat decent
Ah, glad I got the M8 rather than waiting on this one. I couldn't stand using my Galaxy S3 any longer since it was chugging like crazy and the battery was all but gone so at least I upgraded at the right time, and to the right phone.

Watched this on my M8. RUclips forced closed and I'm pretty sure the text that popped up read "Dont listen to him, buy more of our products. You know you want the latest and greatest HTC phone."
Just bought a secondhand M7. It's still kickass even though it's a 2 years old phone.
And M9 is not really that great (probably because of the software) so there's no rush to upgrade for me :p

Ardimo Harsa I have an M8 ATM, and I miss quite a bit about my M7. The stealth black color was amazing, the physical buttons were much better and allowed for more screen space, and my M7 was rooted with CM11 (before any unofficial CM12 builds were released for the device).
Yes M7 is still a good device, but don't try and think that it is better than the M9

Your battery comment about the M9 is conflicting to all the other reviews I've seen, apart from a better camera and body design, the S6 battery life and lack of expandable memory were areas the M9 stood out against the Korean manufacturer's latest flagship.
It really creeps me out when Austin says " I'll catch you in the next one." the way says it, just freaks me out!!! Thumbs up if you too feel that way :)

I think the M9 is a good phone, performance checks out, battery not so much according to me because i tend to be a heavy user and one thing i hate is having to charge my phone before the end of the day. On the other hand the camera wouldn't bother me so much but looking at the fact that it's supposed to be a way bigger upgrade to the M8 is just disappointing, hopefully after the update things should get in place.

Sure, you say its left behind with the GS6, but PC mark probably doesn't use the screen on all the time and the s6 having a more powerful processor and a much higher resolution to drive, I've heard in real use the M9 out performs the S6, also it doesn't have bloatwizz ontop of andriod

Did you download the camera upgrade? Software is the problem. It fixed most of the exposure issues. Manual mode for the win. Personally I rather use my Nikon DSLR 5100 to take photos. I can ZOOM far, not on a phone at least until Asus sells their Asus ZOOM which looks like a total copy of the Lumia 1020.

If 2013 and 2014 were all about HTC when it came to flagships, thing will be different this year. Samsung did a way better job with the S6 and S6 Edge! Of course, the One M9 is an amazing device, but it still lacks a few things, like OIS, for example. Also, that battery test is pretty disappointing.

I have the S6 Edge, and the battery isn't great. It's not too bad either. Usually get around 4-4.5 hours of on screen time.(Brightness at around 15%)

***** Yes, I can agree about the G3 battery life. It was okay for the first couple months but for some reason it is now so bad I never get through a whole day.
***** The M9 is not a very good phone, earlier reviewers kissed its ass and now that more 2015 flagships are being released people are quickly seeing just how bad it is. It is being completely shown up.

HTC let me down this year. Lets hope they improve on there mistakes next year.
For the past 2 years, we have all been favouritism on the HTC One phones due to their brilliant build quality and dissing Samsung about how bad their Galaxy S series is, however this year, it's the other way round with Samsung bringing the better phone than the One m9 as pretty much everything (but touchwiz) is better than the m9, now all Samsung needs to do it bring something like boomsound to its Galaxy Phones
Really nice video, it's not really a review video but at the same time it is. I do think that if I would need to choose between the S6 or M9, I prob would go with the S6 because I think it delivers a better user experience. But, the M9 still has an awesome build quality and the gold colour looks just awesome on it so it will be a difficult choice to make. Fortunately I have an iPhone... LOL
Great review but HTC should have better battery life for a phone in 2015, I mean if people are gonna be stuck in a contract for the next 2 years they expect good camera, good battery life and just an overall good features.
I still don't even see why someone would want to upgrade from a m7. The cameras both suck. The speakers are both good. They both have good build quality. And they are both fast (even tho the m7 is 2 years old its is still fast because of software improvements)

It would be amazing if we could see a video of yours comparing the most powerful mobile SOCs in the market right now, namely the ones powering the Galaxy S6, HTC One M9 and iPhone 6 to see how the 810 stacks up to the competition despite the heat issues.

Now i have the LG G3 d855 and my girlfriend has the m8. I am fucking anoint be the fact that she has the m8, don't get me wrong i like the LG G3.
My next phone will be the m9, omg i love everything about that phone. There's no substitute for the m9 and that's final.

Well I upgraded from the original HTC one to the m9 so it felt like a decent upgrade. Also it's still better than the iPhone.
I think that there was no point putting snapdragon 810 in the m9. It just does not need it. I think 810 should only be used for phones with 2k screen. It also has overheating problems. 801 would do its job perfectly. The battery life could be better and camera could be better as well. They have chosen a random Toshiba sensor. Everybody is using Sony.

I'm a little disappointed in the M9. I had an M7 and I loved that phone even with the camera, and the fact that the M9 has a better camera but the pictures are still so so does not impress me. Plus the slight overheating is a turn off.
I am a ultra HEAVY USER so the fact that battery life is decreasing is a pain
