The Buchla Music Easel is my favorite instrument. It is endless in its possibilities and at the same time hands-on. It never ceases to amaze me. I have plenty of other gear, but for its sheer form factor to utility value and its coolness it is my island synth. I have done a lot of JAMuary pieces with it, a cocoquantus, Push 3 and Model1. Killer setup!
Just got the buchla, I barely know what I’m doing and 99% of the time I love the results. It’s just so so so fun to jam with and tweak and see what comes out. Ordered the LEM 2 days ago and can’t wait for it. Seems like it makes it that much more fun!
+1 for thumbnail Federico! Great reference to your previous video ✅staring face ✅pointing finger ✅red arrow Congratulations, now you are finally a real synthfluencer! :)
I don't have a Command Module but quite interested in the LEM as a controller for desktop synths (particularly the Iridium and Super 6). I'm assuming that all the functionality you are outlining in the video is addressable via MIDI? For the hold function; is that something that could be triggered through a sustain pedal? They've surely thought of that. Also, I'd love to see you get the LEM and then mount the Command and it in the Buchla silver case as a complete instrument then make videos of you carrying it around Europe and setting up in random city plazas to play (dressed in a black suit with classic sunglasses).
from what i can hear you didn't embrace the Easel yet. The sounds you present here are not different to your usual sounds i know from you. To me the Easel was really changing the way i make music and my music sounds.
These keyboards have special outputs for the buchla plus the “octave” switches double as “preset voltage” sources. It’s specially designed to work in the buchla environment. Keystep pro is my favorite controller for everything else though. But it’s worth it to use the LEM with the buchla
Hey no offence but you keep posting new ultimate setups and videos (that I enjoy) every week and then videos about being productive artistically and that you are struggling with this aspect. How about you focus on some setup with which you can express for a while? Just an opinion. It's starting to feel like it's just about making "this amazing life-changing setup" every week video...
@@Bibblebabbler That's very narrow minded & negative claim to make, everyone's taste is so subjective, and you assume you can dish out narcissistic awards to people whose music you don't like? Let's put Oora's music aside for a moment (I love it), even if he never released any music and only made videos, he has killer taste in gear (Very glad to see the Easel in use again), and always expresses some brilliant points that any artist of any medium can apply to their work. Get over yourself, maybe stop commenting on videos you don't even appreciate and focus on your own music, which doesn't seem to exist from what I could find..?
Hey there, I understand your concern, but please realize that this is also my line of job. Plus I own the Buchla since 3/4 year, nothing new. My setups always revolves around the same few things. I dong demo most of the new things that come out. But man, I need to make some money or traffic, so forgive me if sometime I might repeat myself.
You always get the loveliest sounds, no matter what you’re using to create them.

I agree is a super inspiring instrument!! I am still learning it :)
@OoraMusic That might take a very long time. Which is what keeps it interesting ;-)
Fantastic and friendly video, as usual!
Thank you very much!

most definitely! is super fun to use
This is pretty much why I like old synths. Some days, they frustrate, some days = pure gold. Same for modular.
true!
I have the LEMv3 also.. You can use the a sustain pedal on the sustain port to hold arpegios or keys down. Great feature
yeah I figured out after, amazing!!
Synthesis inspection here!
East Coast = Subtractive
West Coast = Additive
yeah I might have said it wrong :D

Sorry officer, you caught me!
Heya Oora, Can you use a simple sustain pedal to temporarily 'Hold'? I'm a converted guitarist but I'd start there.
I think you can do something using the midi implementation, will dig deeper!
Yes you can, at least on the Buchla Music Easel.

yes its all midi implemented. I will try to use it with my other synth sand see!
My question too! Ordered!
Can the member used similar to an mpe keyboard?
How does the Buchla Easel sound through the enjoy’s Godfather?
pretty good I tried many times
THIS is truth!… “it’s not how we succeed, it’s how interestingly we fail”…. Brian Eno
beautifully said!

To me the Easel was really changing the way i make music and my music sounds.
Well, to me this is very different in approach and sound. Always remember that we are not the same brain and hands.
Wouldn't the Arturia Keystep be a more capable alternative to that keyboard?
yes for sure, might be even more capable. I love the design synergy here tho

So odd to see the Oxi in the corner 😢 but I know you love it so it’s ok!
its my only real love :D
