It’s a party killer if you don’t have enough djinn in set mode. My strategy has always been this: Turn 1 Isaac: unleash djinni Garet: attack normally Ivan: unleash djinni Mia: attack normally Turn 2: Isaac: summon Venus Garet: unleash djinni Ivan: summon Jupiter Mia: unleash djinni Turn 3: Isaac: unleash djinni Garet: summon Mars Ivan: unleash djinni Mia: summon Mercury Repeat steps 2 and 3 until Deadbeard passes away Your characters need to be at least in their middle 20s (24 should be good) and have endgame-viable or pre-endgame equipment. Note: as your primary damage dealers should be the summoners for that turn, a viable strategy is to unleash djinn to buff your allies (es. Granite or Corona) or debuff Deadbeard (es. Hail or Ground). Note that Deadbeard has maximum luck, therefore he gains immunity to status ailments
btw... does anyone else notice that when he casts psynergy he's doing it with his right hand and he magically swaps what side his sword is in when he's doing so :P
omfg this game. watching this reminded me of all the fuckin hours i once spent on this game. it was like a feels flash back. and yes, i have beaten deadbeard. i literally did everything u could possibly do in this game and the second one
Considering Deadbeard is a higher level and has better stats than both of them and the Fusion Dragon...plus is the optional harder boss...yes, Deadbeard is harder than Saturos and Menardi.
@@3DTyrant But we gotta point the fact that Deadbeard doesn't have any monster skills so with a good leveled party and good items you can just make him to drain his PP and made of him your bitch, while Menardi has Death Scythe and Fusion Dragon Outer Space as monster skills.

That's the beauty of this boss fight. You can pretty much run any strategy so long as you at least use all weapons, psynergy, djinn, items, and abilities in the game. It truly is genius level game design.
Golden Sun Music is great.
Deadbeard is a great example of turn-based combat done perfectly.

I think Freeze Prism is actually *slightly* stronger than Spark Plasma in raw power. Both are still devastating.

He isn't random. He always appears when you get to the top of the steps.
I guess he means you can get caught off guard because he isn't visible.

@Alondite993 Duh. Saturos and Menardi are a cakewalk, the real final boss is the Fusion Dragon, which is kinda the same difficulty as Deadbeard.

In a lot of ways, Deadbeard was harder than Saturos and Mendari.
Considering Deadbeard is a higher level and has better stats than both of them and the Fusion Dragon...plus is the optional harder boss...yes, Deadbeard is harder than Saturos and Menardi.
Deadbeard boasts a whopping: 6000 HP, 600 PP, 468 Attack, 178 Defense, 180 Agility and 60 Luck, compared to Fusion Dragon's 5000 HP, 500 PP, 439 Attack, 150 Defense, 190 Agility, 50 Luck. He's the "super boss" of Golden Sun.

My strat for this boss is alternate use of Granite and Forge then Thor + Boreas
