When the two toads were guarding peaches castle, one said that ‘the princess is in another castle’ which is a cool reference to the original super Mario bros
Something interesting that RUclipsr Maximilian Dood pointed out: even though they used licensed music, every one of them was from the 80’s, the decade Mario was born in. Yeah, like extending some of the scenes so it isn’t as fast-paced. They deleted most of the scene where Peach tries to get a cheep cheep off Mario’s face
My favorite line of the movie is when Bowser us interrogating Luigi while pulling on his moustache, and he asks if a princess would fall for Mario. And Luigi screams "THEY WOULD IF THEY HAVE GOOD TASTE!!!" That one had me dying.
I can confirm the Bowser’s Fury theme is a direct rip! It’s sort of a remix of the first theme, but that’s just part of the Fury music’s overall progression. If I had to pick a favourite reference not mentioned here I’d go with the hail-mary Banzai Bill launched from Bowser’s volcano. Giving it eyelids and making its “eyes” actual eyes was a such a small but significant change for me, giving Banzai Bill more characteristic charm and adding thrill to the ensuing chase by giving it reason to go full throttle after Mario.

I have two theories on why Mario's voice sounds bad in the trailers. 1. After the backlash, they asked Chris Pratt to re-record the lines. 2. They wanted to surprise the audience when the movie actually came out. Just think about it: if you heard someone's bad character impression in a trailer and when you saw the movie, they suddenly sound good, would you be surprised?
I loved the movie, but there are some things I did not like. The death of King Bob omb (😢), the face of King boo and, most importantly, the existence of the blue toad with the glasses. That could have been Toadsworth But something I like was that in the scene of the Castle with the bonzai bill might me a reference to the stage in smash
the scene were mario breaks though the wall in the sewers the cut out was 8-bit mario and i was the only person who saw that also when Luigi's in bowser area he shouts mario from luigis mansion
The movie overall was amazing, the visual are 12/10, the animation is 12/10, the soundtrack is MAR10/10, the characters are MAR10/10, the plot was simple but i didn't expect much from it (6/10), the movie was kinda short wich has another problem, the movie was really fast paced, so overall, 8.5/10. But king boo is in the movie and he's my all time favorite, even though it's not the luigi's mansion design, i still love him, so 9/10
You’re the first person I’ve heard say that Mario’s voice was a marketing ploy, and I am SO grateful that. It’s literally just Ugly Sonic but for Mario
I think the lack of Main Nintendo IP references mostly stems from Nintendo wanting to separate them for potential series. If old rumors were to be true, Zelda was goind to have a series worked on and it would be weird to see. I am glad this movie is doing great and I hope there are more along the way.

Thank you my brother didn't realise the shy guys weird animation it was very funny to me but noone else realised I'm glad there where others who realised too
There was a Zelda poster in Mario's room, also Charles Martinet did more than Jumpman. He was also the voice of spike as well asario and Luigi's father in the film
I saw the movie today with a friend.. Holy hell what a blast it was. My only "problem" with is was the pacing.. Like i both loved the pacing but also wished they spent A LITTLE more time on certain parts.. But the movie was jam packed with really good references and good content.. Not a single wasted second. Compared to the sonic movies i'd honestly say this one clears both..
This movie was so good! I loved it so much! also there was actually a pikmin reference found in the house mario and luigi fixes the sink in near the beginning.
I really enjoyed the Mario movie too. Rainbow Road was the best part for me. That whole sequence was so hype. I lost my mind at the koopa turning into a blue shell. My main compliant is that I wish Luigi did more. At least he got to help Mario in the final battle against Bowser.
This perfect timing for me I just watched the movie yesterday. My theater was also chock full unfortunately it was filled mostly with young kids. Also has a lifelong Nintendo fan I knew about every single reference in the Mario Movie immediately.
I must say I loved the movie, especially considering the references and everything else with it. Edit: glad the best power-up, the ice flower, was represented. very cool.
Seen it, was okay. Better than most of the Oscar ESG bait that is thrown out there. It looked incredible but the story did have pacing problems. The Kongs were cool so I want a Donkey Kong Movie next!
Luigi being sidelined is OBVIOUSLY a reference to “Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing.” Sheesh. I can’t believe you guys didn’t pick up on that. (Lol my brain is just trying to make excuses for it to work at this point.)

The movie was great! But why don’t I hear anyone talking about when Mario and toad get to the castle doors, they ask the guard toads if they can see peach the toads say” what princess? Yeah! She’s in another castle.” That had me cracking up
When I watched the movie I kept having this though that Mario's dad and uncle looked familiar, not just to the brothers but actual characters. Then I watched the gamexplain video pointing some references and there they mentioned they look like Talon and Ingo from OoT. So you could say this is a Zelda reference which is a Mario reference itself.
There also were 2 post credit scenes First one was after the animated credits where bowser was in the cage song peaches again Second one was after the regular credits where they were underground in the sewers and it zoomed in on a yoshi egg it cracked and the screen turned black and then it screamed "YOSHI"

There was a glass pikmin statue in the rich people's house. It's not the biggest series, but it isn't the smallest either.
Good thing more people spotted it. Pikmin is a great series. Of the 4 main ones all are masterpieces. (My personal favorite is Pikmin 3.)
I wish that the pacing is better and that Mario can have better character development with other characters but other than that, pretty good.
i forgot about how enjoyable and insightful you content was, great video
The Mario movie? Absolute trash. It's just a bunch of lazy storytelling and poor animation. And don't even get me started on video games. Those things are just mindless, time-wasting nonsense. But you know what's really worth your time? Disney. They bring us quality entertainment that's actually meaningful and enjoyable. I can't wait for the Fnaf movie, too. 2023 is a GREAT movie year. Now we went from console wars to MOVIE WARS!
I wish some of the many kongs got bigger roles in the movie but it is what it is, also I love the shy guys voice.
I like the small SMB references like the Mario’s 8-bit head being the shape of the hole when they blast though the wall underground.
I also like “ The princess is in another castle” when Mario and Toad where at Peach’s castle. I finally got to see and it was great.

Finally a reviewer that doesn't clickbait people with the rotten tomatoes critics review and a thumbnail making it look like the review is going to be a bad one **cough** **cough** saberspark **cough** **cough**
I mean I love how peach literally slaps kamek in the face and a Koopa Troopa just says trauma I laughed myself to death
No way! He actually saw the sewers being “Leveled 1-2” I though I was the only one who saw that reference!

Peaches is on RUclips music in Jack Black's channel
I loved the movie, but there are some things I did not like. The death of King Bob omb (😢), the face of King boo and, most importantly, the existence of the blue toad with the glasses. That could have been Toadsworth
But something I like was that in the scene of the Castle with the bonzai bill might me a reference to the stage in smash
As a diehard King Boo fan, I actually really liked his design in the movie, especially since he hit the 🤨 at one point

Considering how that Koopa was turned into a Dry Bones (drybonesforsmash), I'm not surprised that you liked that scene!
the scene were mario breaks though the wall in the sewers the cut out was 8-bit mario and i was the only person who saw that also when Luigi's in bowser area he shouts mario from luigis mansion
the scene where the the DK rap played made me cry tears of joy🥲
The movie overall was amazing, the visual are 12/10, the animation is 12/10, the soundtrack is MAR10/10, the characters are MAR10/10, the plot was simple but i didn't expect much from it (6/10), the movie was kinda short wich has another problem, the movie was really fast paced, so overall, 8.5/10. But king boo is in the movie and he's my all time favorite, even though it's not the luigi's mansion design, i still love him, so 9/10
One of my favorite references you didn't mention was Luigi's Phone's call sound is the Gamecube startup tune lol
You’re the first person I’ve heard say that Mario’s voice was a marketing ploy, and I am SO grateful that. It’s literally just Ugly Sonic but for Mario
I’m so glad they used ice flower, it’s my favorite power up and a little under used
I think the lack of Main Nintendo IP references mostly stems from Nintendo wanting to separate them for potential series. If old rumors were to be true, Zelda was goind to have a series worked on and it would be weird to see. I am glad this movie is doing great and I hope there are more along the way.
Surprised you didn’t mention the GameCube intro theme as loogi’s ringtone that was definitely a funny one early
Who let matpat in here? Pure gold.

@@Sammy-34079 🤢 disgusting. disney in modren era sucks. their films get worse with every entry. not to mention they fired people like chris pratt because of what they believe. not a good company anymore, once was but not anymore.
Hi Dude I love the mario uploads thanks for uploading so much lots of love to you
I loved the Super Mario Bros movie so much. I agree that there are some pacing problems, but overall, this movie was a 7.8/10 for me.
At least it would be if it wasn't for the fact that THERE WAS NO DIMENTIO! 0/10 WE NEED THE KING DIMENTIO IN THE SEQUEL OR ELSE I RIOT!!!🤬😠🤬😠🤬😠
I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN HE SWUNG BOWSERS TAIL THE FIRST MARIO GAME I PLAYED WAS MARIO 64 AND I PLAYED IT NONSTOP I LOVED IT AND TO SEE A EASTER EGG FROM THAT GAME I WAS SO FREAKING HAPPY EHEK.

Hey odyssey, did you notice that when toad cooks with the castle guards, the music is a brief remix of the luncheon town theme from odyssey?
How did I find this video within the first five seconds of it being uploaded?
When talking about non Mario references, the couple in the fancy apartment had a mini pikmin statue
Just water to say amazing video! I went to watch the movie Saturday and thorough enjoyed it! Me and my dad watched the “Peaches” music video in the car and couldn’t stop laughing!
Interesting thoughts on the movie!
Odyssey says: I am not going to show the movie or the trailer
Also Odyssey: *puts clips of the movie before the review*
Someone critic wrote a review saying it was bad cause there where jumpscares?? And undead koopas
Thank you my brother didn't realise the shy guys weird animation it was very funny to me but noone else realised I'm glad there where others who realised too
The soundtrack is undoubtedly the highlight. I love it so much.
COULDNT AGREE MORE

Chris Pratt actually confirmed Nintendo doing a Nintendo cinematic universe kind of thing which makes me very excited 😊
7:45 finally someone who feels the same about Luigi as me yay
Edit: glad the best power-up, the ice flower, was represented. very cool.
The ending where they basically did a bros. Attack was awesome
Seen it, was okay. Better than most of the Oscar ESG bait that is thrown out there. It looked incredible but the story did have pacing problems. The Kongs were cool so I want a Donkey Kong Movie next!
You can’t blame Toad for just being there. It’s what he does in the games
Luigi being sidelined is OBVIOUSLY a reference to “Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing.” Sheesh. I can’t believe you guys didn’t pick up on that. (Lol my brain is just trying to make excuses for it to work at this point.)

You took the words right out of my mouth. As someone who loves Mario it hurts me to see him done dirty on the internet all the time

I would to congratulate you. You just the one the award for "no one asked" how about instead you do something productive like go outside, or talk to your... oh wait I remembered you don't have friends or family or a life at all for that matter. The only thing you have is constantly sucking off Disney and making actual good Disney fans look bad
Conrgatulations on winning the "no one asked" award. How about you do something productive like taking your bite sized, Nintendo hating brain somewhere else. I would also say talk to someone if you had friends or family but you don't. So go worship your god Disney somewhere else cuz this isn't the place for you buddy
@@SuperWarrior64 Disney>>>>>>>>garbage Nintendo!
that's funny. Everything that you just said was wrong
Guys it's been 10 years since odyssey central s first video. Guys I believe that the mario maker videos are the best from odyssey central.
There also were 2 post credit scenes
First one was after the animated credits where bowser was in the cage song peaches again
Second one was after the regular credits where they were underground in the sewers and it zoomed in on a yoshi egg it cracked and the screen turned black and then it screamed "YOSHI"
I hope yoshi is featured more in a sequel
When the movie ended, one of the kids said "what I learned today was to never eat a blue mushroom"
