The Religious Sisters of Mercy (R.S.M.) are members of a religious institute of Catholic women founded in 1831 in Dublin, Ireland, by Catherine McAuley ...
Sister, inspector Quinn, Judge Caprio, I'm loving it. I went to school here in Ireland to the Nuns and have to say no bad memories and we owe them a debt of gratitude for our education. I find Caught in Providence compulsive viewing but this for me was the best so far. The sister defended her case very well, Judge Caprio delegated responsibility to inspector Quinn whose memory of the ruler prompted him to dismiss. Well done to all. Yes that was pretty cool!
Pat I'm with you. I went to the Sisters of Mercy here in Limerick, Ireland and loved every single moment. There's many wouldn't have a meal on their table or an education without the nuns. There wasn't a child went hungry in our school; all who couldn't afford to have a breakfast were fed by the nuns at school. I have gone the whole way through primary, secondary and as far as my doctorate in religious colleges and wouldn't have had it any other way.
I love Judge Caprio because .he is down to earth, gentle, kind-hearted ,and witty and as for the sister I salute you for your work ,feeding the poor and the needy isnot easy but I know that God is always with you and your team and your congregation as a whole ..Keep it up Thank you so much for your good work God bless you all 🙏🙏
God bless her and the truly Godly work they're doing and may God bless them with his blessings of provisions and protections they needed in Jesus name amen!
yeah, like the poor that Mr. Theresa did nothing for in her homes of the Dying. This is why we have the magdelene, forced adoptoin, baby graves, covered rape .. the deference given to sack cloth and ashes.. we had it here for years in Ireland.. only now getting to the bottom of it. and noe I see 1,500 cases in the Netherlands about the exact same "Orders" of nuns for exactly the same thing, slavery, indentured servitude, the children of mothers brought in for "low morals" (rape victims, domestic abuse victims, incest victims), made to work .. (the kids, not the mothers.. they worked too).. I have 0 time for any claim by any order until you admit to and pay your victims..

On the basic level this is what Ramadan does: see the world through the eyes of the poor and hungry. In fact, if someone misses a day of fasting, they have to provide food to the poor (more than they already do). Btw, those in poverty never fast in Ramadan bcuz they don't have to....that's their normal life. It's also when a special type of charity is told to be given, to the poor. Taking care of each other (humans in general, not a specific religious group) is one of the biggest deeds encouraged during the month

I know I have said this here before... but it warrants saying again... to quote Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice, when Portia is pleading in Court, she says... "the quality of mercy is not strained" and this good judge is not just a good judge, he is a thoroughly good man.
Watching this from Perth WA...I had to smile..I was taught by the Sisters of Mercy back in the 80's and still remember them ( and their large ginger moggy known as the 'convent cat') fondly...they lived right in the middle of the school and it wasnt unusual to see them hanging out their washing or pottering about during the school day ..always greeted them with a cursory 'Hello sister/ morning sister' as we went about our school day ...simpler times indeed 😊

Went to Catholic schools as a young boy. The same nun taught all classes in each grade. They did an excellent job. Letting her off was very fair considering how much they do and give of themselves. Well done judge.
Re mention of the ruler. i am in the UK, and many years ago in primary school a teacher hit me across the back of the hand with a ruler for chatting in class. The ruler broke, so she went and got another one, and hit me again for having broken the first one.
My granddad went to school in the UK and he is left handed, he told me he used to get caned almost daily for writing with the ''wrong'' hand. He said to me if ever any teacher picked on me for being left handed to let him know and he would come to the school and ''put the teachers lights out''
