Also important to remember that unlike raids, where you know exactly the stats of the opponent and what hit/bulk points you hit or miss, here your opponents will almost always also have a "compromise", so even when your extra points aren't supposed to be empty, they might end up empty, and vice versa. You might miss some defence points for an empty attack point, your opponent misses an empty defence point, but to combo make you hit a break point and win.
Me being new to PvP, this is a lot of info, just not sure where to start in what I want in a pokemon, as you said 0 atk, is "good" to work towards but might not be the end all be all.
low atk high def/hp keeps it simple, but sometimes there are advantages to having higher atk weights. It's species and matchup specific though, so I wouldn't sweat it too much until you get more comfortable with things.
For me pogo has always been a collection game, and I will never regret powering up a hundo as a trophy. Besides, if niantic decide to change anything in the current bizarre cp evaluation, pokemon with pvp ivs may become obsolete. Formula's high attack weight doesn't make any sense.
Yeah but you should only max it out if you need it or have a connection to it. I get annoyed when someone maxes out a shitty hundo pokemon and complains bout lack of dust
I have noticed that winning the cmp tie is more important for me, and happens more often. Comparing the situations, low attack stats along with high def and hp helps you barely win a mirror match when using both shields (this rarely happens) on the other hand the higher attack stat pokemon with lower def and hp, will get that charge move off before the other guy does and probably win the fight. Since this situation is way more prevalent in battles I say higher attack stat mons are the way to go.
In the mirror sure, but vs the field attack stats aren't allinged. Believe me when I say it sucks having Altaria hit your Azumarill for 1 extra damage per Breath.
Yeah but man you have to understand that Charge Move priority tracks OVERALL attack, not just Attack IV. What I mean is that for example if you use a mon that naturally has a low attack, you’ll always lose the tie even if you have 15 attack IV (say Azumarrill vs Haunter). Plus the fact that in a normal battle you usually switch a ton and charge attacks aren’t usually done at the same time due to desynchronization between players due to switching. What I’m trying to say is that high attack IV literally only matters in the exact mirror and in the exact lead (say you both start with Altaria and no one wants to switch). In literally all other occasions, bulk will get you much, much further.
You said it looks bad. I beg to differ.. in 2 minutes you've explained this better than the past 5 videos I've watched in attempt to understand. Attack is weighed heavier than Def and HP. welp that's it in a nutshell.
5:40 i got one of the fully powered up and i love it’s performance. And boy it was expensive. Almost 230k stardust dust to complete it! Don’t regret it
Actually you can get a 0 attack pokemon from a trade but you need to do it with 0 friendship, that means, the first ever interaction with that particular person. I'm not sure what restrictions are there for this trade, I would assume no special trades. Either way it's near impossible, you only get one chance per friend and 4096 possibilities. I've done tons of first interaction trades every time I meet a new trainer but only gotten a decent one (a 0 13 6 Makuhita), all the others were bad or ended up being Lucky.
You're not wrong! When I was editing I thought about that detail and figured it wasn't worth the hassle of working in. Also, that feel when you get the risky legacy move trade in but it's lucky Dl

The first ever, non-special trade can have an IV floor of 0. After that, each tier of friendship raises the IV "floor." For example, best friends can't re-roll lower than 5.
I love using my toxicroak. I haven't even given him his second charge move yet but an awesome umbrella counter. Has been a nice fill for my team of vaporeon and alolan sandslash
Yeah I actually have a 7 14 15 azumarill, and also a lucky one that's 14 13 15, I'm tempted to just power up the lucky one for stardust savings. I can power the lucky one up to 1498 at level 37 and unlock the second move for less than it would cost the non lucky one to get to level 36 or something its outrageous. As long as the matchup is right, the lucky one is probably fine
