It must be amazing to listen to all those Springsteen classics with fresh ears. I did a couple of videos where I talked about my most and least favorite song on each album. I think on the Nebraska album my fav. was " Atlantic City ". I was very curious about Sheryl Crows new album. I thought it had been a while since she had done a new album. I picked up the new Pearl Jam album on Record Store Day, I do like it. Enjoy your new spins Rob.
I’ve never check d out Bruce because of what I heard in the eighties. But as I’ve learned, excellent bands from the seventies often had to fit in with the eighties. Perhaps I’ll really like those older albums.
Bruce had supposedly tried out the "Nebraska" songs with the E Street Band, but he preferred the demos. He felt the amazing atmosphere of the demos was lost in the electric band versions. People are waiting to hear those band versions. I was surprised at my reaction to Taylor Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department". On my first listens, I felt the same as you. The same old, tired arrangements and formula. But, this album is definitely a "grower". i find the more I listen, the more I like it. I started with "The Anthology" digital download, which has 14 songs not on your LP edition. I bought the same LP edition as you, but the Phantom Clear vinyl one. I also immediately thought of the original packaging for The Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour". One of my uncles had that. "The Anthology" 31-track download is a must. It really completes the story. The remaining songs are not just outtakes from the album's sessions. There are some really great songs on the second half. A lot were co-produced by Aaron Dessner, so they have a more "folklore"/ "evermore" sound. I think a lot of the main album, mostly co-produced by Jack Antonoff, has "folklore"/ "evermore" style writing, with a "Midnights-lite" production.
@@NorthernRevolutions I find the little added touches to the production become more apparent upon further listens. As well as how great Taylor's vocals are on this. Her lower register is really good and expressive here. I hope the whole 31 tracks become available on CD and LP. I feel bad for the fans who bought four different editions to get the 4 bonus tracks, only to have "The Anthology" download come out. 😊 I bought "The Black Dog" deluxe CD edition. It's my favorite of the album covers. The same one as the download.
Hi Rob nice to see you’ve picked up Liam and johns first album , I think they’ve already said another album will be recorded soon . My daughter likes Taylor’s new albums she’s off to see her in London 3 times later this year .. she’s. Constantly played in my house so I’m a casual listener.. cheers Rob 👍
Well, if Liam and John do another album, I will grab it for sure! Really enjoyed that one. Taylor 3x? She’s lucky. 30 million people signed up for the Toronto presale and there were only 30,000 tickets across all five shows. Needless to say, we’re not going.
Nice that you grabbed Liam and Squire! It's a grower for me, but very crunchy! I'm looking forward to hearing your Springsteen journey. Western Stars and Wrecking Ball are top notch for me. Taylor Swift....yep.
I think Nebraska was the album that solidified me as a Springsteen fan. Love that album. Nice to see you got the new Sheryl Crow. I’m a fan too. I don’t have it yet so it’s a bit of a downer to hear you say it’s just “ok”. I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up feeling the same way. I haven’t listened to much of it but I got the latest TS for my wife. Nice pickups!
Hey Gary. Nebraska is phenomenal!! Absolutely love. I hate that it tool me 30yrs to find it. You might like the Sheryl Crow record. Its not bad at all but just felt very disjointed. Im probably wrong.
What a coincidence! Just two days ago I was checking out a video on a playlist - I forget what band it was - but the next song on the list was from that Me First and the Gimme Gimmes album.
I bought that record the week it came out. The best track on Nebraska is Open All Night. The first two Springsteen records are excellent. I have heard many tracks on new the Taylor Swift LP thanks to my youngest. It's too early to make any assessment!
Well so late to the Springsteen party dude but nice to see you finally arrived. The two albums u showed are by far the best of his catalogue. Both have the least “pop” “endless radio play” songs and are so well performed. I know as I’ve had those lp’s and so many others of his for decades. Not a heavy fan of Sheryl Crow but I’ve bought some early works on cd from Thrift Stores for $2 lol. Thats as far as I’d go with her. Taylor Swifty is not where my $$$ goes so ….pass. RSD had a few cool buys to find as always although it’s expensive and takes too much effort. Enjoy

Me First and the Gimme Gimme's are great for when you're in a fun mood. Nothing like hearing a 70's ballad reduced to three cords at a rapid pace.

Hey James I started with the Anthology download too. I like it but I still maintain, its getting tired. Hopefully it grows on me more.

Yup, Open All Night is classic. What a great song. My Buddy bought this record when it came out. I taped it and played the heck out of Open All Night.

Nebraska is a great album. When you see him live, an even higher apprecaition will kick in.
