The word satchel originates from the French word sachel, probably introduced to England post 1066 when the Franco Normans gave the Germanic Angles and Saxons a bit of a hiding at Hastings. There are very few words in "English" that do not originate in Latin, French, olde German or one of the myriad of Scandinavian language dialects. Keep up the terrific work. You are much appreciated.
