Tire set up on the flat cart is for ovals which is why the right sides are so much larger. It's made to turn left. Put em on the same tires and run em like that.
It also needs weight on the right side. The seat is farther to the left on oval karts. What I wanna see is the circle kart motor on the road kart, it makes more sense because if you modify the circle kart to turn right you're basically just turning it into the road kart but worse.
I think we are seeing mostly a difference in tires on these carts would love to see Charles Kart get the same tires as the t4. We use to run circle karts on road courses all the time.
Agreed - I think unless you're running the same tyres on each kart, you're not really determining much at all. You could just see charles' kart had very little grip on any demanding corner.
@@deangiacopassi1951 either shorten your right front suspension or lengthen your left front slightly for a start, those carts are setup assymetrical so that they always kind of pull a little left, let's you brake later and back on full throttle faster in the turns, since you know they are all the same direction. If you know how to fabricate, then you can do it all yourself with some scrap metal and what's already there, or for $100 - 200 you can get new hubs and parts to have a more even front suspension then another $100 to have someone fab any alterations if you don't know how to do that part.
I liked the format of all onscreen at the same time.In helmet mics was a really great idea too. Thanks for the fun guys. All 3 of you need to work on Charles' cart and build it to track everywhere. You could certainly here it get up and go,but not go where you want.Happy 4th to Everyone !!
imo this video was a sell out. They're obviously sponsored by that company and you can tell that they were just showcasing it and making the othwr karts seem so much worse when the built one is obviously the best, they used a cheap excuse and say it vibrated too much. But again it may just be a bad speculation on my part
Here is a question for you guys to rattle your mechanical brains? On a dual carb setup on a motorcycle 🏍 if one air intake vacuum hose nipple is plugged permanently on the left carb do you plug the opposite carb in the same place to make it run🤔 Let me know lol that's what I'm trying to figure out . Or do you use plugs in all vacuum lines 🤔 help a brother out Ike
I feel like Charles' kart would be fine with some new, sticky rear tires. The front end was holding fine, but the rear would just slide. It's got a straight rear axle, so there's no adjustment there. Seems like the front end was OK, but may need an alignment to make it a bit less twitchy. I'd like to see a rematch after the $500 kart gets new shoes.
I agree 150% , otherwise, he'd have smoked the ringer by such a large margin that I honestly feel he'd have lapped Ike easily. But he was chumped for sponsorship sake, I believe that to be the reason things were the way they were. Charles is an old dirt track racer from way back, and he's actually the best one at the majority of the little events they preform for the channel. Very obvious when you watch him when Ike's ego isn't around to be bruised by being second best because being one of the senior members. Not that I have anything against him, but it was very obvious when Charles joined full-time insecurities were getting to Ike
Charles should mod that cart unless he wants to keep it for ovals (which seems like it wouldn't be that great). Stretch the wheelbase and maybe try to get the weight distribution closer L/R.
@@janeames1513 It looks like something that would be for very small oval, and probably not a 25hp engine based on the wheelbase. I don't know, maybe it just needs some better (new) tires?
Love all the videos I watched so far.....I know I live in OCMD and grew up riding dirtbikes and go Karts......My Last dirtbike was a KX100 and I had to sell everything living where I do now...So you guys remind me of myself when I was younger. Also the fun you guys have with each other...Keep it going and can't wait to watch more.
Love the Karting content on a proper track!🙏🏻 I understand the comments about "fixing up" Charles' kart but the message here is about "getting what you pay for" and what to expect on a track.... That T4 people dont realize how much of a great price it is when comparing all factors of getting into Pro-Karting
Well you do get what you pay for but we are talking apples to oranges to bananas on this video. That LTO with a genuine american Briggs like it has wasnt a bargain buy in 2013 by no stretch of the imagination. Think about it like an F1, a indy and a nascar. They are fast at their own game. Unfortunately for the oval they put it in the wrong sand box.
Hey guy's, I just wanna say thank you for providing great content throughout the years. I know these videos take time and a lot of work. Glad I could see you guys progress with videos from before to now.
I'm so glad Charles joined you guys. He's hilarious and I can tell he's getting more and more comfortable with each episode. Look forward to seeing more T4 content! Love the built carts and seeing you guys do sketchy stuff of course, but I'd definitely be down to see some more track time episodes.
I raced karts for about 12 years... 20 years ago... Karts used the frame for torsion suspension so to remain competitive at the highest levels, karts are usually replaced every year or two. They'd also get fractionally lighter and have track tuned engines and gearing. Sometimes we would tap-out mid straight, but our out-of-corner acceleration would make up the difference.
So, the abandoned go kart, yea that isn't made for asphalt tracks. Its more of a dirt oval kart. Also, I know people are gonna question me, "How do you know?". I have a brother who owns 8 of them, runs them in many different series and I work on them. The fat tires on the back are meant for better grip on dirt. The engine that he has on there is for the small younger kids who are just starting out in karts. The bigger engines need a high powered electric gun to start them and each class of dirt kart has to meet weight restrictions. You can add weight to the karts. Wouldn't recommend using a dirt kart on asphalt, but hey, its your kart you do what you want with it.
I would like to see Charles cart vs the tillitson again except do a refresh on Charles kart first. New tires, brakes, alignment, ect. Get it set up for road course with the same engine and go again. That engine and gearing seemed perfect for the kart but it just wasnt set up for asphalt.
Nice laps John, even nicer editing! FWIW though, we're all here because of the content and the chemistry you guys have, you don't have to go Hollywood to impress us. A lil jankiness is welcomed.
There’s no real competition with Charles’s oval kart on old, crappy tires vs a brand new sprint kart. If you buy some decent tires and adjust the stagger and suspension setup on the oval kart it should make for a more interesting race. Love what you guys do tho, keep it up!
Love the content from this track. You guys should invest in tires one day. Like go wild and buy as many sets possible. Every build in the future would thank you. Did he say 'one legged man in a butt kicking contest'?

John knows what an APEX is as he is a retired cart racer. Not sure what video you were watching but John was hitting the APEX and is faster than both Charles & Ike by a large margin. On all three carts.

I think you guys need to throw some money at the old Charles kart and see how it does ..I bet just a new set of shoes would find it 2 seconds....just saying 🤔
I like the 3 views at the same time idea, also maybe new tires on the yard kart and test it again for comparison. Def want to see more of that T4 for sure!
I left a VIR kart in the grass at the end of the backstretch once because on the cool down lap that no one ever uses as a cool down, one of the front spindles broke. I waited, and even waved my arms, but the track crew teenagers never saw me or realized one of their karts didn’t come back and they sent the next group out. So I hopped the fence so I was out of the way, walked back with the helmet and set it back in the rack. The track crew was looking at me funny, so I quickly said the steering had broke and they could find their kart over in the corner. Then walked out. Since it happened on the cool down lap of my second session, it was still a fun time though. Nothing like a group of racers at a rental kart track.
I'm kinda glad all we had in my town was an old dirt track maintained by random drivers that showed up on the wknds. I had an old Margay with a huge McCulloch on it. The style was much different. Completely crossed up with two rooster tails coming off each tire through the corners. Back then our Yamaha shop sold a Yamie cart with a 100 or 125 on it. My chain saw motor would smoke the Yamaha fairly easily and four strokes didn't have a chance.

The blue cart has smaller tires. That blue cart is likely half the weight. If he ditched that heavy shell on the yard kart, fixed the suspension and put some new tires on it, it likely would have outdone the others. It seemed to have the best gearing and power combination.

Add weight to the karts. Or get John to wear a weight vest with removable weights. Same with Charles so everyone meets Ike's weight. Even the playing field. No slander here, just want to see everyone with the same fulcrum and not give John a low one with weights by the seat to meet their weights lol.
Damn John you was ripping it I thought you only ripped it on mini bikes but you was killing it I like how Charles's cart seat was so laid back at the end he looked like he was laying down and he always was sitting up🤣
Charles is driving in offset go-kart it's made for oval racing not road racing offset go-karts hate making right hand turns if you put an offset go kart on scales all the weight percentages on the left hand side so when you make a right hand turn the right side of the car wants to lift up because there's no weight on that side therefore it does not like steering into the right hand turns they're only made for going left also that the thing called cross percentage weight and I'm sure it has high cross which again is made for oval racing turning left only
I personally think it would be better if the camera was mounted on a suspension mount on the cart frame, john holds his head up and we got great shots but Isaac and Chuck keep their heads more down and you don't get to see as much. however this was some great content. it kept me riveted, great video
Should have had the same tires. We would have gotten a better comparison of the kart performance.
That old cart had too much tire in the rear.

Happy 4th! And please be respectful with your celebrations.
