I had the same user code for my iPhone and iPad. When I purchased a new Mac and attempted to couple it to my iCloud account, the “system” got confused, because it didn’t know which devise I was using (iPhone or iPad) to complete the effort. It took two days to discover the error. Oh yes, I subscribed.

I agree @kaysha! Honestly having two Apple ID's is not the end of the world. It does have some advantages to separate purchased content from iCloud. Thanks for addressing this question of two Apple IDs. I've also had two IDs for nearly 20 years. Initially I used one for syncing data over iCloud and for app purchases, and the other for media (music, book) purchases. But recently, somehow, this distinction has disappeared. I now have some apps purchased with each ID, and some media purchased with each ID. This is making it difficult to update apps in particular, as Apple doesn't always give the opportunity to choose a different ID from the one it thinks is correct. I know you can't merge different IDs, but is there a solution based on saying both IDs are members of the same family? Or another solution?
Hi rodneytopor1846! I think many users are in the same boat. It is unfortunate that Apple doesn't provide a solution to merge Apple ID's. I use two Apple ID as well. One Apple ID is only for iCloud. I've never purchased anything with it in the App Store, iTunes, books, etc. The other Apple ID is used for all Media and purchases. So pretty much everything except iCloud. For me personally, the more I think about this, I don't mind having two accounts. It makes it easy to distinguish between the two. Also by having TouchID and FaceID on all of the devices, I rarely have to put in passwords, except for initial sign-ins. Here's what I would do. Identify all Apple IDs and the purchases associated with each. Bite the bullet and determine which Apple ID has the least amount of purchases with it and then just re-purchase the free content with the other Apple ID. Narrow it down to two. One for Media and one for iCloud. The other option you could do is setup family sharing and add both Apple IDs to the family. Then turn on purchase sharing. Depending if you have family sharing setup or not, that could be a great solution. You can only have 6 Apple ID's associated to one family though. I hope that all makes sense! I have 2 apple ID’s by design. That is because I have 2 accounts for myself on my Mac computers. They both have a different use. One is my main account, but the other is the private account which I use for work related things which I do at home. The second one I also use for my IPhone and Ipad. It is sometimes a bit annoying, because I had to couple bothe agenda’s, but I don’t mind. And my ITunes on all my devices is actually on my first account, not the sevond.

Hi @JJHERNANDEZ-w1t, Are you talking about using a phone number as your Apple Account username? I think that only works in China and India. So I don't know how to do that if that's what you're looking for. I did find an @Apple support article that I'll link below for reference: Create and manage an Apple Account using a phone number instead of an email address support.apple.com/en-us/105034 If you're not talking about using a phone number as your actual Apple Account and just talking about the phone number being a trusted phone number, you can have the same phone number linked to multiple Apple Accounts, but there is a limit. I have a new video that talks in-depth about changing the email address associated to Apple Accounts. I'll link that below for reference as well: How to change your Primary Apple Account (Apple ID) Email Address ruclips.net/video/f2We3ctQSsQ/видео.html Thank you so much for taking your time to watch this video! I wish I had a better answer @AlergicToSnow! I personally don't think there will an option anytime soon from @apple to merge Apple IDs. As it is convent to have one, I have learned to manage with with 2 different accounts and it's not all that bad. I guess it's a nice way to separate purchases and content from everything else. After I made this video, I actually changed my Apple ID to be a different email address other than the @comcast.net one, which is nice, but nonetheless, I still end up with two. Thank you for your continued support! I appreciate you more than you know! If this video was useful, I’d love for you to SHARE it with on social media and say how it helped you!
I have a same issue that I’ve been trying to resolve for a long time; an original “iTools”, which then became “.Mac” account from years ago (which has most of my purchases); and then a more recent “iCloud” account. I didn’t realise until it was too late than I had inadvertently created a second account; but there seems to be no way to merge them frustratingly. So I use a rough work round of including my second account in “family sharing”, it sort of works; but it’s not as good as just having one account :)
I'll take that as a compliment @andrewr888r! THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! Great question @sircorn4248! When you create a brand new Apple ID as of today, it would require you to associate a phone number, unless it's a child Apple ID. If the Apple ID has been around for a long time, you may not have a phone number associated to it. I would highly highly recommend to add one as a trusted number for Two-Factor Authentication. It will certainly be helpful if you ever need a password reset. If you're not familiar with Two-Factor Authentication, check out the video below: Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Apple Devices - Understanding 2FA and Apple Trusted Devices ruclips.net/video/I_msjcAo44M/видео.html I hope that helps! Good explanation. I do have two Apple ID's because i live in Brazil. I can not access Apple News in Brazil. In order to access I need a US account. The problem is that I am not able to share my notes on iCloud between the iPhone (Brazilian Apple id) and iPad (US applied). Is there a way to sync the notes in this situation? Thank you.
Hi @RenéVogelaar! Living in a different country can create some hurdles. Honestly I would use a Google account to sync your notes then. That will be able to sync to literally any device, and you can choose to only sync notes from that account and nothing else. Thank you so much for taking your time to watch this video. Hi @Quince828! No, I'm not saying you should use the @iCloud.com account for the Apple ID. Users should use whatever they feel comfortable with. When you use a third party email as the Apple ID, it's really just acting as a username for Apple. All of your email and such wouldn't be there. So for example, if you're been using gmail for years and years, and you created a new Apple ID using that gmail address, all the content (photos, contacts, calendars, email, etc) in google would not go into Apple. It's only using your email address as the username. THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! Hello, i have a question. Is it possible to have second or primary Apple ID from example India, Argentina, Turkey for purchase cheaper apps? Possible to share with family if they in different countries?
Great question @tima5544! I'm sure you can create a secondary Apple ID from another Country as you can change the country that your Apple ID is associated with. The link below actually has other links related to family sharing and purchases. Apple savings account? Does that come under apple ID? So if a person could log into your apple ID, could they access your savings account and apple card?
Hi @georgecain123, So your Apple ID Account is tied to your Apple Savings Account in the system on their end, but if you went to iCloud.com or appleid.apple.com, you wouldn't have access to see any private information associated to your card. Even to see card numbers about your Apple Savings on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you need to authentication with Touch or FaceID. You can see transactions in the wallet app, but any credit card or account numbers you need to authenticate with. Thank you so much for taking your time to watch this video. Hi @corteltube! I'm sure your husband appreciates you getting him an iMac! As far as apps such as RUclips, Facebook and such, on an actual computer, they will just be websites. iPads and iPhones technically aren't the same as a traditional computer. Very helpful thanks! I am trying to help a friend who back in the day set his phone, his wife and a couple of kids' phone under the same Apple ID (may have been before family sharing). It gets messy because anytime they get a new device etc, everyone gets a message and it gets confusing. Somehow they have their own photos and don't get each other texts. Now that one of the kids is going to college and has a new Mac, I am trying to help them by "starting fresh" for his new mac, wanting to set him up on his Apple ID. I am just not sure how to transfer over just his photos and contacts etc. from his iPhone to his new Apple ID from the original shared Apple ID. Thoughts? Thanks!!!
Hi @billhayes4711! This scenario happens more times than not! Ideally in a family, every person that has their own iPhone/iPad/Mac, they need their own Apple ID. I always say sharing your Apple ID is like sharing your toothbrush...you can do it, but I would not recommend it. If the kids do not have Apple ID's, Child ID's can be created. I've linked some Apple Support article below that discuss these options. Create an Apple ID for your child support.apple.com/en-us/102617 How to create a new Apple ID support.apple.com/en-us/108647 Once every person has their own Apple ID, they should sign into their respective device. Hi, so just to confirm, should each member of my family have their own apple id, but then we can share the iCloud? Or would we also have to get separate iClouds? If we do, do we have to pay for each iCloud separately? Or is it more similar to something like Netflix, where we all have our own profiles, but share the actual service? We like being able to see everyone's photos and not having to pay for things in the Appstore multiple times, but don't like handing off to other peoples devices. What would be our best course of action? Thank you in advance!
I have the same problem with two AppleID’s. I had one associated with iTunes long before MobileMe/iCloud came about and have a zillion purchases associated with that non-iCloud account. That forces me to use a different AppleId for my media and purchases versus my main iCloud. Since I have AppleOne, this causes the additional iCloud storage to become orphaned and useless. I cannot add that cloud storage to the 2TB plan my family is sharing. I tried assigning it to a family member, but that disconnected them from the shared iCloud storage.
Hi @techinrl9869! You're not the only one in this situation! Yeah, you can't assign storage to someone else in the family. They can pay to upgrade their own storage, but then they will no longer have access to the shared family storage. I too have an AppleOne subscription that is under my original Apple ID that has years and years of purchases just like you too. But within that AppleOne Subscription, I assign the storage to my other AppleID that his my iCloud Account. This storage then gets shared with my family. So you wouldn't be paying for more storage. Have you looked at those settings? On your iPhone go to: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > Apple One > Manage iCloud + From this menu you choose who what storage the iCloud storage from the Apple One subscription is going to. I hope that helps! THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! If this video was useful, I’d love for you to SHARE it with on social media and say how it helped you! I have successfully changed my Apple ID, and it’s also signed in on the App Store. And because of this, when I try to update those few apps, I am prompted to sign in to my previous email address/Apple ID. Any suggestions?? All good, but I sort of “backed into” iCloud without realising its main purpose. As a result I have photos and videos on two iPads and want them on just one. What I would like to see, and you may have done it, is a procedure by which you can download the original and uncompressed videos and photos from the Cloud to an external SSD . Thanks.
That will happen often @robweaver9953! If you have a Mac, you'll be able to download all original files in Apple iCloud Photos and store them on an external drive. So I am using an old Qwest email for iCloud and the App Store. I see that it's easy enough to change the iCloud email to something else but would that also change the App Store ID? It looks like a maybe because when I look at the account info on the App store it also gives the option to change the Apple ID on the same page where you would change the iCloud ID. I just don't want to cause a huge headache and have all the devices still play nice with one another.
My iPhone and iPad both have an old e-mail address as my Apple ID. That e-mail provider has undergone ownership changes and I primarily use a gmail account for my e-mail. Apple still sends receipts and Apple News to the old e-mail address. Is there a way to have Apple send everything to my gmail account? I don’t care if my old e-mail account stays as my Apple ID. I am looking for help... over the last 15 years or so when we first purchased our first Apple product I created an Apple ID. Over the years myself and my wife have purchased new Apple products and they have all been connected to that same Apple ID. We would like to create a new Apple ID for my wife's laptop and phone... and keep my Apple Id for my old iMac and new iMac. Where do I start!!??
Great question @trevorhoward8799, Every individual person should have their own Apple ID Account that is just associated to them. So the first thing to decide is, who is going to keep using the current Apple ID that you've been using for years. Then second, you'll need to create a brand new Apple ID Account for either you or your wife. Keep in mind that a new Apple ID Account will have zero information in it, so you would need to figure out what data (such as contacts, calendars, photos, etc) you need to copy to this account. I have lots of videos on on my channel of how to export and import content for lots of different things, but there is no type of migration to say move/copy content from one Apple Account to another. There is another scenario that will require 2 Apple IDs! I moved from Germany to Denmark. Both EU countrys, both Schengen rules, etc. Before my move I bought a MacMini, which i registered in Danmark with my Danish data. If I now want to browse in the German Apple App store I can't. Apple doesn't let me cross the boarder digitaly! I'm condemned to use the danish Apple App store - in a language I don't speak yet. So, I used my second Apple ID which I used with my old iMAC in Germany to browse in the German App store. However - as fare as I understand - to switch back to the danich App store requires a 30 days wait (for each switch). Is there a faster way?

Hi @cboldmadera, An iPad would use an Apple ID Account/iCloud. If you're referring to a PC as a Windows computer, then not really. Using a "Comcast email" for any Apple ID, iCloud or other account is a very bad idea. When you move or no longer pay Comcast for their overpriced internet & cable services, you could lose that email account. Always use something that's not tied to a paid subscription like a Gmail account or similar. Gmail is portable and free.

Another pain with this is that I subscribe to family sharing and I have 5 family members that can share my account but my old Apple ID account has to be one of the family members on top of my iCloud ID, so I lose one family member automatically as one member is my old Apple ID with my App Store purchases and the second family member used up is my iCloud ID. So I can only share with 3 family additional family members….
Hi @bradley7506! Do you have an Apple One subscription? I'm in the same boat, but I think I may have mine setup a little differently... I also have two Apple IDs. One for iCloud and one associated to App Store/iTunes and such. Under my the Apple ID that I'm using for iCloud, that is where I have my family sharing setup. Then under the other Apple ID that I use for App Store/iTunes that is where I purchased Apple One. When you do that, you have the ability to dedicate the iCloud storage to the an Apple ID of your choosing within your Family, so I dedicate it to my other Apple ID. If you have Apple One, this settings can be found on the iPhone located: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > Apple One > Manage iCloud + This essentially allows me to do Family sharing with everyone in my family which is a total of 6 people. It can get quite confusing, but I hope that makes sense! THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! I had this same issue years ago. I also tried to change the email address associated with the appleid, and Apple completely screwed the pooch and messed everything up, so I will not ever give them that opportunity to shit the bed again. I won't kick that sleeping dog, so I remain in that same boat of having not one single ID. Consequently, there are a few tunes in Music that it says I don't have authorization for, yet they still have the money I handed over to them for those tunes. Hopefully, Apple is a little less stupid now than they were then. Apple did a lot of good things since day one. iTunes was not one of them. It started out as a poorly-designed v1.0 program, and every single iteration since devolved it into something even worse. Music, and the division into podcasts and video, was a travesty, partly due to Apple now having more ways to worm their way into your wallet with services.
I hear ya @tomlewis4748! Apple does allow you to change your Apple ID to a different email address, but it can't be an existing Apple ID. Not sure why it's so hard to merge the data of two?! I didn't mind iTunes back in the day, but I do struggle to like Music. The interface and algorithms could user improvement. I did also use iTunes Match too, which was nice and I'm surprised it's still available, but all big tech is all about the subscriptions. Your music purchases are probably tied to your old Apple ID. I've been in the same boat and it's disappointing. THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! One area I HATE Apple...AppleID and iOS. I have a work one and a personal one. Not too much of an issue on my Mac. Under iOS...Apple basically said GTH with using both. Apple HATES corporate customers..and has for years! My company has 8 people and I manage all of their machines. The corporate management program from Apple is a nightmare. M$, Adobe, and just about every other company is corporate friendly...Apple, only cares about solo users. A few OSes ago, a user could get away without signing into their AppleID in MacOS, now they have to. Makes my management of their machine...harder.
I can relate to the frustration @tomdfrog. Apple has hard time intertwining itself within an enterprise environment. For my job, I manage just over 600 Apple devices, both iOS and Macs and it can be a challenge. THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know! So, my dad made the exact mistake of getting us (me and my brother) in on his Apple ID. Now, as a teenager, i am just now realising this, and i am now trying to make my own Apple ID. I am just so ingrained in his Apple ID that i don't know where to start. If some of you know the process of getting me out of my dads Apple ID, it would be awesome if you could drop some answers to me.

But I would have thought by now Apple would have been able to merge two accounts.

Thank you, do you have any suggestions on how to create an Apple ID for a business? What is the best practice?
Hi @cottagekeeper,
Define the word "business".
Are you talking about how to create an Apple ID that you just use for business, or are you talking about "Managed Apple ID's" that are associated with Apple Business Manager?

THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know!

If that works for you @PatrickBijvoet, then it's all good. The most important thing is knowing how it works!

What happens if I use a different number to create a new apple ID? Will I be able to change the number later on?
Hi @JJHERNANDEZ-w1t,
Are you talking about using a phone number as your Apple Account username? I think that only works in China and India. So I don't know how to do that if that's what you're looking for. I did find an @Apple support article that I'll link below for reference:
Create and manage an Apple Account using a phone number instead of an email address
support.apple.com/en-us/105034
If you're not talking about using a phone number as your actual Apple Account and just talking about the phone number being a trusted phone number, you can have the same phone number linked to multiple Apple Accounts, but there is a limit.
I have a new video that talks in-depth about changing the email address associated to Apple Accounts. I'll link that below for reference as well:

I wish I had a better answer @AlergicToSnow!
I personally don't think there will an option anytime soon from @apple to merge Apple IDs.
As it is convent to have one, I have learned to manage with with 2 different accounts and it's not all that bad. I guess it's a nice way to separate purchases and content from everything else.
After I made this video, I actually changed my Apple ID to be a different email address other than the @comcast.net one, which is nice, but nonetheless, I still end up with two.
Thank you for your continued support! I appreciate you more than you know!

So I use a rough work round of including my second account in “family sharing”, it sort of works; but it’s not as good as just having one account :)

i don't think so... i had an ipad for years with an apple id but no iphone/#

Short answer. Yes you need another phone number.

So does this mean that one should use their @icloud account for appleid? And what if one closes say a gmail account is the Apple id lost?
Hi @Quince828!
No, I'm not saying you should use the @iCloud.com account for the Apple ID. Users should use whatever they feel comfortable with. When you use a third party email as the Apple ID, it's really just acting as a username for Apple. All of your email and such wouldn't be there.
So for example, if you're been using gmail for years and years, and you created a new Apple ID using that gmail address, all the content (photos, contacts, calendars, email, etc) in google would not go into Apple. It's only using your email address as the username.

I would guess that you don't want to change your current Apple ID to a different country, you would want to create a brand new Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID country or region

Apple savings account? Does that come under apple ID? So if a person could log into your apple ID, could they access your savings account and apple card?
Hi @georgecain123,
So your Apple ID Account is tied to your Apple Savings Account in the system on their end, but if you went to iCloud.com or appleid.apple.com, you wouldn't have access to see any private information associated to your card.
Even to see card numbers about your Apple Savings on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you need to authentication with Touch or FaceID. You can see transactions in the wallet app, but any credit card or account numbers you need to authenticate with.

Hi @corteltube!
I'm sure your husband appreciates you getting him an iMac!
As far as apps such as RUclips, Facebook and such, on an actual computer, they will just be websites. iPads and iPhones technically aren't the same as a traditional computer.
To access that content, you just need a web browser and go directly to those websites. There won't be specific apps for all of them, unless the company makes one.

Hi @UthOye2021!
If you have an iPhone that has activation lock on it, you'll need to know the Apple ID that it's locked with and the password associated with it. I've linked some Apple Support Articles below that will hopefully help:

Create an Apple ID for your child
support.apple.com/en-us/102617
How to create a new Apple ID
support.apple.com/en-us/108647
Once every person has their own Apple ID, they should sign into their respective device. If information needs to be transferred, it would need to be exported out from the Apple ID/iCloud account that has that info and then imported into the other new Apple ID's.
I hope that all makes sense!

Hi @lennandebbarma571!
So once Two Factor Authentication is turned on for an Apple ID, it can't be turned off.
Below is an Apple Support Article that I will link below on this topic.

Great video explanation. Thx I somehow managed to change my media purchases apple ID with new one as previous ID was hacked. I logged in with previous id and added the new associated email address, signed out and logged in with new. All purchases came in with this new ID. All Forum say it cannot be done. Am I doing something wrong. Thx
Hi @faisalsaleem3567,
If you had purchased content with an Apple Account and changed the email address to a new one, all purchases should be now associated to the new Apple ID Account.
Did you change the actual email address, or just add another email address to the original Apple ID Account?

Hi @lamborghini2978,
An email used for iCloud is an Apple ID. So you use two different email addresses, or you could make an alias for an iCloud account and that would be a different email address, but for the same Apple ID/iCloud account.

Sometimes 2 different accounts are necessary. I live in Brazil. The account in Brazil does not give access to Apple News because it is not available in this region. In order to access Apple news i did create an account using a USA address and a CC issued in the USA.

On your iPhone go to:
Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > Apple One > Manage iCloud +
From this menu you choose who what storage the iCloud storage from the Apple One subscription is going to.
I hope that helps! THANK YOU so much for watching! It is appreciated more than you know!

Hi it will be very helpfull if you just guide me how i can delete or remove primary email id associate with apple id
I have successfully changed my Apple ID, and it’s also signed in on the App Store. But… there are a few apps on my phone that have been downloaded from a backup that used the old email address/Apple ID. And because of this, when I try to update those few apps, I am prompted to sign in to my previous email address/Apple ID. Any suggestions?? I have read I can delete each app one by one and reinstall, but that doesn’t seem very efficient.
I do have a video that speaks to this. It's a little older, but still very relevant. I'll link below for reference as well as a most recent video of just iCloud in general:

I just want Apple’s mail to go to the gmail address.
Hi @jamesbass5!

One question: what will happen to all those apps and services where I "signed in with Apple" if I change the email of my Apple ID? I'm afraid the the app where i signed in with my Apple ID will still rely on my old email even if I change it in the Apple ID, have you ever tried to do this test?

Hi! Thank you for this video! It’s very informative. I have a question, are you able to create an Apple account if you don’t have an Apple phone? It’s Just to be able to connect an Apple watch. Thanks!🙏🏼
Hi @jg1552g!
You do not need to own any Apple devices to create an Apple ID, however I'm pretty sure you will need an iPhone to setup and pair with an Apple Watch. If you don't have your own iPhone, there is a way to set up with a "Family Setup" option, but it still requires an iPhone from someone else.

Great question @trevorhoward8799,
Every individual person should have their own Apple ID Account that is just associated to them.
I hope this helps! Don't hesitate to come back and ask more questions and I'll do my best to help!

What if you have a pc and an iPad?
Hi @cboldmadera,
An iPad would use an Apple ID Account/iCloud. If you're referring to a PC as a Windows computer, then not really. Windows does have an iCloud app where you would sign in with your Apple ID, but it would not work 100% like a Mac computer.

If you have Apple One, this settings can be found on the iPhone located:
Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > Apple One > Manage iCloud +
This essentially allows me to do Family sharing with everyone in my family which is a total of 6 people.
