I noticed in the movie Snarl was barely there. Based on this video, his only appearance is a static image of him in his Stegosaurus mode. You'll see it at 1:01 in this video.
My head canon is that snarl stayed back to honor and bury wheeljack bc he died in combat and snarl and swoop where the only ones who know but swoop went to distract the other 3

The movie made them more likable, child-like, and curious in addition to being effective fighters. The scene where their being attacked and Grimlock wants to hear war stories is one of my favorites.
It's a testament that they are indestructible. They tanked so much damage in the first two seasons and were essentially unphased by any of it. Might have slowed them down a bit, but that's it.
"The Touch" by Stan Bush still gives me chills/goosebumps after near 40 years. Just crazy!! Kids nowadays don't understand "Transformers: The Movie" wasn't just a regular movie to 80's kids.

Imagine if the Dinobots could combine into Volcanicus like they do today perhaps a couple more Autobots could’ve survived. They could’ve used more hands from the Aerialbots to combine into Superion, or the Protectobots to combine into Defensor, maybe even Omega Supreme.
I read an alternate version of the movie in a comic. It illustrated that superior, defensor and omega supreme were present in the movie. They had their hands full defending the autobot arc from menasor and bruticus while the battle was occuring in autobot city.
There is a Japanese only cartoon that explains what happened to the gesalts, it's xalled scramble city, it's on the 20th anniversary edition of the movie dvd. Also there were a group they were thinking of making called the anibots and they supposedly combined into the dragon. They were turned into the original predacons
I always thought it was odd that after the movie, we barely saw the dinobots in their robot mode. In all season 3 episodes grimlock just change 1 or 2 times in robot mode and just for a few seconds. Just as strange as we never see the constructions in their truck mode.
The dinobots in The movie and Season 3 were more for comic relief so it made sense they mostly only were in Dinosaur mode to make them look cuter and child like instead of their warrior Robot modes.

I watched dubbed in spanish of course but I loved how dialogues were modified to be sutied to the humor we latinamericans know. XP hilaruious Xd
The animators cut a lot of corners, like keeping the Dinobots in dinosaur form for most of the movie and omitting Snarl too. And the comedy bits were amusing for kids but as an adult they just make me cringe now.
Yeah, even as a kid the comedy bits were a little off putting. Like Grimlock went from Conan The Barbarian in the show to Rodney Dangerfield in this movie.

Believe it or not there was one missed Snarl moment. It's at the 37:39 part of the movie. Galvatron returns to Autobot City to attack Ultra Magnus and the Autobots, but before the Autobots try to load the Dinobots onto the shuttle.
I still want to know why the Dinobots could fly. You could make the argument they were gliding on the way down from the Shuttle, but in the fight with Unicron in space they are clearly moving around freely.
