I am absolutely exhilarated to find this video. I have noted Lt. Col. Cole's passing April 09, 2019, San Antonio, Texas. Sir, you lived a long and courageous life. All I can do is lift my message of thanks to God for allowing men and women like yourself to step up and do what is necessary when called upon. You were of the greatest generation. Thank you, sir, for our freedom and I hope to meet you some special day on the other side. Thank you Doolittle's raiders!
I don't care that this hero has gotten to see old age. I don't care that he speaks more slowly and it takes him more time to recall memories and to speak. I want to hear him and will be as patient and sit with full attention for however long it takes. I wish the interviewer would have shut the hell up, talked far less, asked the questions, and let this hero take all the time he needed to speak. He and his brethren, our fellow countrymen, earned that respect.
Damn Skippy. After all (not what.... because 'what' would mean he did 1 thing, but to say 'all' is more correct. he did MANY things for his country and brothers in arms) he did and accomplished in his lifetime and service to the United States during WWII... he more than deserves all the patients, understanding, RESPECT, and PRESEVATION OF HIS DIGNITY in his old age as he has suffered hearing loss and loss of mobility ect. You know... I have helped take care or 3 of my 4 grandparents as they god ill and passed away, and it was so hard to do. My one grandfather that died suddenly of a heart attack when I was 14, had been a WWII Airborne Paratrooper in the PAcific, and was the only one I didnt, obviously, get to help tend to (and thank goodness. He never needed any taking care of in old age). But, sorry this is so long..... just, my point is, when I helped them, I always reassured my other grandfather (Who was a Korean War vet) and my grandmothers, who were both very fine ladies, with lots of vanity. That I didnt mind helping, and that they were NO TROUBLE at all.... and I never 'talked down to them' or made them feel like they were a burden, or treated them like a child. I love and respect and adore them. After all those fine people did for me, how they love me unconditionally when I was growing up, and into my adulthood.... I would patiently take their slow ways of having to move, and get ready or needing help to get ready, or take care of themselves.... when they couldnt get to or from the restroom by themselves, that became humiliating tot hem, and I did all I could NOT to let them think that. These Treasures of our world, Like Dick COle.... and believe me, I am sure he had these issues as well, deserves to be treated with the same dignity and respect, as You said. They more than earned it.....
An incredible hero whos legend will forever live on.. u dont find courage like that today. Anywhere. They fought in honour and died in honour and will forever resemble the american freedom.
A true TRUE American Hero. I hate to see him like this, and everybody is wanting his attention as he is the last surviving Raider. God Bless him for doing everything he can to recount the history that he was, so, a part of. Very sad as time continues to roll on, we lose so many of the "greatest generation" members. Schools do not teach the information Colonel Cole is telling. And that is criminal in my mind.
April 18,1942-2022 80th Anniversary Doolittle Raid Next Anniversary 85th Year 2026 all are Veteran of Doolittle Raid Passover No one Left Tell Tail Greatest Event History Then again No Body Cares 😪
