Hey guys just to let you know Yuneec now sells a controller with sticks, it comes with a very nice VR headset. The controller connects with your phone via Bluetooth and lets you control the drone and you use you phone as a monitor, or put it in the VR headset and fly FPV. Of course it's no phantom but it's really cool seeing the world from a Birdseye view at 250 ft. And everything works perfectly. It's a good entry level into aerial video and FPV. BTW Andy I really like your videos and it's really interesting how we live on two different continents and yet we can communicate as though we were friends next door.
Just got one of these drones and haven’t been able to get it to start. The camera works and the lights and was able to adjust it but it won’t start up. Will it only start out side?
I had one. Not user friendly. Had to put a mirror under it to get it to lift off. It always had a takeoff error if I didn't use a mirror. Had its heavy so I made a ton of noise. Flying from bright into shadows was very sketchy. I had the controller and it was it's own pain. Great idea, just not excuted clean enough.
joe groves that is a good point it is very difficult to see my phone when I am outside even with screen turned all the way up. might work if you're in the shade or a very cloudy day. I don't know how Andy was able to see it.
Great review as always. I'm using a OnePlus One running a modified Nougat ROM. This Breeze might just need an update, but I think it prioritizes that process when you open the app. You can actually buy a "PS4 like" controller. I got my Breeze on eBay for $250. It's a fun little quad. The kit (controller and crappy goggles) are about $70.
You'll be disappointed in the short range of this thing. It is programmed to stop at 100 meters and there is no way to disable it. I did find a way to get around the geo fence and fly to 199 meters (652ft) check out my video to see how to do it. ruclips.net/video/TPi8C1ynOQU/видео.html
Another great review Andy, you covered almost everything. I'm more of a photographer than a RC pilot and this might be a nice compartment to my Phantom 4 as photography platform. I could get the Mavic but I don't really need to long distance flyers.
It won't pick up wifi if you're phone doesn't have a 2.4ghz antenna. I'm thinking it runs on a wireless B connection to get a strong signal to feed both video and controls.
Just bought a I-phone 7 special for this drone. Not too happy! It worked fine with my 2015 Samsung j7 till I downloaded the latest app for the breeze then It would not work with my Samsung. They weren't very helpful at Yuneec. They blamed it on the phone so I went out and bought a I-phone 7. Now it works fine even tracking works a little but not at all with the Samsung. They said at yuneec that I needed dual band wifi. Thanks Andy. now back to the review.
yes i thought it was weird that it wouldnt work with my latest android phone i guess they need to update the app to follow the latest releases of android cheers

I'm in the industry and I can tell you I know hundreds of people just threw my shop that have come in that had the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S7 Edge and a lot of them upgraded to the iPhone 7 plus and I told them not to stick with Android the superior more intuitive Hardware, software head of its time Flagship Android phones with Samsung being ahead of everyone... Slugo's RC If you have issues with Android phones flying drones you have to say to yourself first DO YOU HAVE A FLAGSHIP ANDROID PHONE.. like the Galaxy series!!! And as I stated before crappy apple has a stripped down version of Unix.. no customizations, not a true full featured fully customizable operating system like a desktop or laptop. In other words they have a lot more things going on!!! There's a couple things you can do with an Android phone that can help a lot.. Put your phone in airplane mode put your phone in airplane mode ( YES AIRPLANE MODE) some popular wise ass drone person told me to look up what a computer engineer is and then put my phone in airplane mode. Trying to be sarcastic saying it won't work because the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are shut off in airplane mode ( SO I SAID TO THE SARCASTIC DOUCHEBAG) YOU DO KNOW AFTER YOU PUT YOUR PHONE IN AIRPLANE MODE WISE ASS YOU CAN MANUALLY TURN ON THE WI-FI AND BLUETOOTH. ENOUGH ABOUT THAT IDIOT.. So anyways after you turn on airplane mode go back and turn on your Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. What this does is it shuts off a lot of the crap in the background that can cause problems and glitches and even helps with the video feed.... Then another quick trick is go into your Wi-Fi settings select your Breeze or any drone. Select Auto reconnect if it's not selected already... THEN SELECT MANUAL RECONNECT FOR ALL OTHER WI-FI YOU PREVIOUSLY CONNECTED IN YOUR PHONE.. When you do this it makes it much easier for your phone to focus on your Breeze if it disconnects... It makes the phone glitch less and stay connected better... Well sorry for the long-winded statements I just thought that I would let you know from my knowledge and experience...

I mean in a better implementation in that case offcourse.. Hmm wouldn't budge on a Android phone :| That is concerning.. I think maybe some kind of 2.4Ghz control 'wand' would have been a safer option.. The captured video looks pretty decent I think :)

ScorchingNightfall: I disagree. I have a Q500 4K and the camera quality is very good. The video range sucks, but the camera is as good as the Phantom 3, I think. That being said, I do think DJI makes a better drone. Also, where can I find a $20 drone with a camera as good as the Breeze? I'll buy one today lol
4k is always going to look good. I meant their 1080P drones like the Chroma/Typhoon. It feels very cheap to look at and pretty blurry where as on a phantom you could zoom in on PC and make out details. Could you send an imgur link for a 4K pic on the breeze?
I love my Breeze, but what I must point out is that you need a really decent phone to get the best out of it. On my cheap piece of crap there is a lag of around 3 to 4 seconds for the video feed, which makes FPV next to useless.
in that field you can fly it 100m no problem, don't worry about disconnected from wifi it will come back where you take off it and eventually reconnect to your phone.
Interesting. Pity it has abandoned android, (that could be temporary)Not sure I'm part of the "selfie" generation either but it all seems to work. It could be quite interesting to fly it reversed especially in circle mode. Would make for a really good panorama. Good review as always

Well, thanks for that review. I think it might be of interest to High School girls, perhaps, but for serious UAV enthusiasts, I think it a bit too mundane. Surprisingly, the functions seem to mostly work, and the quality of the video is better than some cheap "selfie drones" (Dobby). So, I suppose there is a market for it out there somewhere. I was initially surprised at this review, as I thought I remembered that Yuneec was getting out of the hobby grade market and moving all its assets into the commercial market .. perhaps I'm thinking of another manufacturer. I don't know who's in charge of cutting the grass in that field, but it looks like it could use a nice short cutting. Decades ago, I used to fly in such a field, and once a month or so, I'd bring my own lawn mower to the field and cut a strip so that I could do take offs with my RC planes of the day. This one isn't particularly cheap, but, it does work, so, there you are. Thanks again for the review. Cheers.
sadly the council want to spend as little money as possible cutting the field, a really nice retired guy spends a lot of his time cutting out the pathways and a race track for me! I should start a patreon account for him! I wasnt aware of yuneecs departure of consumer drones but that would make sense as the typhoon h was their last biggest release and in the drone world that was years ago! thanks for you input as always Bill it is much appreciated
I did some research, as I couldn't trust my memory. It was 3D Robotics who decided to leave the hobby market for the commercial market, not Yuneec, who, as I recall, has the backing of Intel .. and a unresolved law suit ongoing with DJI for patent infringement. It's hard to keep track of these things ...
When DJI announces the Spark or Mavic Mini next week, I suspect the price will drop on this quad, which has been available since late summer. As you noted in another post Yuneec is alive and well and still attends all the quad shows and fair around the world. I would even guess that the Breeze 2 is in development.
fantastic review Andy! I love this little drone but dog-gone-it the price it's just too much. it's a great little drone of course there is no controller you use your phone which is fine but then the price should be lowered to. I can't believe they're saying the retail price on this is like 1200 bucks. have these companies gone out of their mind , I think so.

beav1962 I got mine yesterday for 150 with the controller at Walmart!!! Then I bought an extra battery for 29 so out the door 2 batteries, controller and the Drone about $190 including taxes!!! This thing is a lot higher quality than I thought and for the money it's a no-brainer. I would not upgrade to the spark even though it's a lot better cost a lot more money.. for the same features with the spark the DJI Spark you talking about $500 If I'm spending $500 I will wait to get the fly more package for the DJI AIR THE YUNEEC BREEZE IS PLENTY GOOD ENOUGH KEEPING YOU SATISFIED TO WAIT FOR THE DJI AIR
just got it with the controller at walmart for $150, pretty happy with the features for the price. sure it could be faster and have more range, and the follow me could be a little better, but to get these same features in most other brands from what ive seen you'd be in the $500+ range
Smokey420Greenleaf I did too except I picked up a $29 battery for a grand total of 190 with tax out the door you can't beat for the price.. Just make sure you go on the software and turn everything all the way up in terms of range and speed it only goes 11 miles an hour.. 262 ft, and 328 distance.. I got off the phone with support today to ask if there's a way to disable all of the restrictions.. They said no because the speed, and distance give you the best performance for that drone and it's meant to be a close drone not too far away drone it's meant to be stable so you can take pictures and video like a selfie drone.... I must tell you 262 ft is high enough everything looks like a little. At that height I can barely see myself LOL. In 328 feet is almost so far that you can't see the Drone anymore anyways.. Excellent indoor and outdoor selfie drone that used to be $500 it's a no-brainer!! FURTHERMORE THE BLUETOOTH CONTROLLER I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT NO MATTER WHAT WHICH COST ABOUT 50 TO $60 PUT YOUR PHONE IN IT CONNECT IT THROUGH BLUETOOTH AND THEN PLAY ANY VIDEO GAME ON YOUR PHONE IT WORKS PERFECT PERFECT ! NOT TO MENTION YOU CAN USE THE BLUETOOTH CONTROLLER EVEN FOR YOUR COMPUTER OR ANYTHING!! IT'S AN AWESOME HIGH-QUALITY BLUETOOTH CONTROLLER... I don't really care about speed to get a faster drone with more features you're going to have to spend$600 meaning to have an extra battery and a controller like the DJI spark I actually prefer the video on the breeze I Returned the spark!! My next drone is going to be the MAVIC AIR!! I was going to return the breeze and put the money towards MAVIC AIR but because of the Bluetooth controller as I said I would use anyways.. how cheap it is it's a no-brainer to keep it... I like having a couple of different drones I love drones they're fun. Also I can take the breeze out someplace where I'm not afraid to get it broken.. play with my grandson.. and then only use the Maverick air for SERIOUS THINGS.. I have tons of video I should put up with my RUclips channel... I actually went out last night and flew the breeze at night.. That kind of wasn't a good experience because I didn't realize digital stabilization absolutely sucks at night when you use 1080p stabilization. It can't see because it's night so you get this real choppy messed up video. At night time you have to use 4K or 720p no stabilization.. Those Optical mechanical stabilization on the expensive drones are unbelievable but if you're good with the joysticks you can get excellent footage with the breeze... You could also go back into settings turn the speed down to half that will make it to the joystick is less sensitive so you don't have as sudden movements...
Well that's a bit of a problem if it doesn't work on Android phones. I was about to click on buy until I watched your review, bugger. There's no way I'm buying an apple phone just to fly a quad. What about a tablet with WiFi.? I wonder if that'll work. You know, one day they'll actually make a phone which makes phone calls and that's all. Things are bad when you have to base your phone buying on which quad it'll fly. I would have liked to see what sort of range you could get. Basically it's sounds as if it's only good for selfies, at 70 I'm not into those, so I may be looking at something else. I was given a good price for the Breeze, hardly used for $200 AUD. around $140 USD.
It does work with Android phones. If your phone is 5.8 GHz WiFi compatible, it'll work. The WiFi does cut out every now and then though, when this does happen, the drone just hovers in the air til it gets the signal back. If it doesn't reconnect, it'll simply land in the same place it launched off from. It's a good beginners drone if you can get it cheap. Here in the UK it's £449, that's far too expensive. For that price you might as well get the DJI spark.

nice video presentation on your part, however without a controller a no go for me, its too difficult to see a cell phone screen outdoors.

Your phones needs to be 5.8 GHz WiFi compatible to work with this drone.

Stability resilts seems improved with last appz/firmware version vs the first videos I saw from the breeze. Nice job btw

4k is always going to look good. I meant their 1080P drones like the Chroma/Typhoon. It feels very cheap to look at and pretty blurry where as on a phantom you could zoom in on PC and make out details. Could you send an imgur link for a 4K pic on the breeze?
I love my Breeze, but what I must point out is that you need a really decent phone to get the best out of it. On my cheap piece of crap there is a lag of around 3 to 4 seconds for the video feed, which makes FPV next to useless.
in that field you can fly it 100m no problem, don't worry about disconnected from wifi it will come back where you take off it and eventually reconnect to your phone.
I have a friend got one of this, the biggest issue is that it drift a lot during hover for newbie.

Well, thanks for that review. I think it might be of interest to High School girls, perhaps, but for serious UAV enthusiasts, I think it a bit too mundane. Surprisingly, the functions seem to mostly work, and the quality of the video is better than some cheap "selfie drones" (Dobby). So, I suppose there is a market for it out there somewhere. I was initially surprised at this review, as I thought I remembered that Yuneec was getting out of the hobby grade market and moving all its assets into the commercial market .. perhaps I'm thinking of another manufacturer. I don't know who's in charge of cutting the grass in that field, but it looks like it could use a nice short cutting. Decades ago, I used to fly in such a field, and once a month or so, I'd bring my own lawn mower to the field and cut a strip so that I could do take offs with my RC planes of the day. This one isn't particularly cheap, but, it does work, so, there you are. Thanks again for the review. Cheers.
sadly the council want to spend as little money as possible cutting the field, a really nice retired guy spends a lot of his time cutting out the pathways and a race track for me! I should start a patreon account for him! I wasnt aware of yuneecs departure of consumer drones but that would make sense as the typhoon h was their last biggest release and in the drone world that was years ago! thanks for you input as always Bill it is much appreciated
I did some research, as I couldn't trust my memory. It was 3D Robotics who decided to leave the hobby market for the commercial market, not Yuneec, who, as I recall, has the backing of Intel .. and a unresolved law suit ongoing with DJI for patent infringement. It's hard to keep track of these things ...

When DJI announces the Spark or Mavic Mini next week, I suspect the price will drop on this quad, which has been available since late summer. As you noted in another post Yuneec is alive and well and still attends all the quad shows and fair around the world. I would even guess that the Breeze 2 is in development.

fantastic review Andy! I love this little drone but dog-gone-it the price it's just too much. it's a great little drone of course there is no controller you use your phone which is fine but then the price should be lowered to. I can't believe they're saying the retail price on this is like 1200 bucks. have these companies gone out of their mind , I think so.
i think the price came down a lot with this one since release. i think it use to be 500 dollar

Then I bought an extra battery for 29 so out the door 2 batteries, controller and the Drone about $190 including taxes!!!
This thing is a lot higher quality than I thought and for the money it's a no-brainer.
I would not upgrade to the spark even though it's a lot better cost a lot more money.. for the same features with the spark the DJI Spark you talking about $500
If I'm spending $500 I will wait to get the fly more package for the DJI AIR
THE YUNEEC BREEZE IS PLENTY GOOD ENOUGH KEEPING YOU SATISFIED TO WAIT FOR THE DJI AIR
just got it with the controller at walmart for $150, pretty happy with the features for the price. sure it could be faster and have more range, and the follow me could be a little better, but to get these same features in most other brands from what ive seen you'd be in the $500+ range

I did too except I picked up a $29 battery for a grand total of 190 with tax out the door you can't beat for the price..
Just make sure you go on the software and turn everything all the way up in terms of range and speed it only goes 11 miles an hour.. 262 ft, and 328 distance..
I got off the phone with support today to ask if there's a way to disable all of the restrictions..
They said no because the speed, and distance give you the best performance for that drone and it's meant to be a close drone not too far away drone it's meant to be stable so you can take pictures and video like a selfie drone....
I must tell you 262 ft is high enough everything looks like a little. At that height I can barely see myself LOL. In 328 feet is almost so far that you can't see the Drone anymore anyways..

I don't really care about speed to get a faster drone with more features you're going to have to spend$600 meaning to have an extra battery and a controller like the DJI spark I actually prefer the video on the breeze I Returned the spark!!

I was going to return the breeze and put the money towards MAVIC AIR but because of the Bluetooth controller as I said I would use anyways.. how cheap it is it's a no-brainer to keep it...
I like having a couple of different drones I love drones they're fun. Also I can take the breeze out someplace where I'm not afraid to get it broken.. play with my grandson.. and then only use the Maverick air for SERIOUS THINGS..

I actually went out last night and flew the breeze at night..
That kind of wasn't a good experience because I didn't realize digital stabilization absolutely sucks at night when you use 1080p stabilization. It can't see because it's night so you get this real choppy messed up video. At night time you have to use 4K or 720p no stabilization..
Those Optical mechanical stabilization on the expensive drones are unbelievable but if you're good with the joysticks you can get excellent footage with the breeze... You could also go back into settings turn the speed down to half that will make it to the joystick is less sensitive so you don't have as sudden movements...
Get the controller if you don't have it, It make all the difference. Flying with phones suck.

Well that's a bit of a problem if it doesn't work on Android phones. I was about to click on buy until I watched your review, bugger. There's no way I'm buying an apple phone just to fly a quad. What about a tablet with WiFi.? I wonder if that'll work. You know, one day they'll actually make a phone which makes phone calls and that's all. Things are bad when you have to base your phone buying on which quad it'll fly. I would have liked to see what sort of range you could get. Basically it's sounds as if it's only good for selfies, at 70 I'm not into those, so I may be looking at something else. I was given a good price for the Breeze, hardly used for $200 AUD. around $140 USD.
It does work with Android phones. If your phone is 5.8 GHz WiFi compatible, it'll work. The WiFi does cut out every now and then though, when this does happen, the drone just hovers in the air til it gets the signal back. If it doesn't reconnect, it'll simply land in the same place it launched off from. It's a good beginners drone if you can get it cheap. Here in the UK it's £449, that's far too expensive. For that price you might as well get the DJI spark.
