The log was great, but your son was the best! From another proud father who has 5 wonders of his own. My oldest became 40 and my youngest turned 28 this year. Enjoy every moment, minute, and second, because it all goes by to fast.
Been watching Fall Line for a long time, and your videos never fail to educate and entertain, as well as occasionally astonish. Plus, you get my special Kool Beans Award for using the word, "exacerbated" in sentence. Congratulations.
OMG that tree is outstanding. Like you said a treasure. You are very lucky. I guess luck happens to those that appreciates it. Thank you for sharing such beauty in this world, and good people like you and your family. Be safe.
Beautiful wood. You can find beauty even in something imperfect. Your son is also so beautiful. But I'm sure you already know that. God bless and stay safe.
I worked on a portable saw mill for a while. It was a great learning experience. It gave me a deeper respect for the various lumbers, and the end product. Beautiful.
Given the extent of the rot and the stunning character that was revealed,,, I would make a coffee table and bench set using a blue epoxy to really highlight the grain and colors of the cherry. Good luck and thanks for allowing guests along.
I like your cinematography. It makes this engaging. Don't mind the haters, I think you found something unique and interesting there. I'd definitely go epoxy river on this baby.
Love cherry. wood. I’ve got massive dining table made of cherry we cut ourselves witth my father years ago. Now it is unique piece of our home in his memory . Nice boy, God bless you all.
Lovely log Wes. I agree about the epoxy, I said it as you revealed the rot. However, I like the idea of the glass top too, providing the rot is neutralised. Lovely end to the video. Your son is growing and learning fast. You all stay safe! Stan
Nice upload from you & yours Wes! That log has got some fine markings, and as you said, will maybe make a great coffee table, but it's sure going to take a lot of Resin to fill that! Stay safe & well.
That is beautiful, don't fill it with epoxy just get a piece of glass cut to sit on it and some short legs to make a coffee table and you won't lose the spectacular colour and depth of the center. Maybe just lacquer the surface area to highlight the colour. Just my four penneth worth. I enjoy your enthusiasm.
What a gem to find in that cherry log! Your son is going to be learning quite a bit from his old man about harvesting his own lumber and making beautiful furniture! What a wonderful thing to look forward to as he grows! 👍
Love that the close-caption text says "applause" when water was tossed on the log. At first I was like, nice, that is beautiful and does deserve an applause... But then realised it is audio text and the water tossed on does sound a little like applause. 👏
Beautiful log! I recently milled an old blowen down cedar. Similar heart rot pattern but it was much much worse and was almost out to the bark. Also glad to see you showed no mercy on those wasps.
Hay man just a good tip from one sawmiller to another if u paint the ends of the logs it will stop them from cracking and the log can last for 2 to 4 years out in the elements of rain and sun
True and it's surprising how many don't seal the end grain. There are commercial preparations available like Anchor Seal, but cheap latex houseplant works as well. Roll it on one end and when you'er done, go put another coat on the first end and then back. I know some guys who run a tree service and bring down a lot or big urban trees. They sell the saw logs on the spot and the dude who buys them is often there when they come down. He does his sealing before even loading them.
That was a great shot on the wasps, you got every one I think That is a beauty. I wonder could you epoxy fill and then cut it into a 3" thick table top, and get some cherry wood boards out of that at the same time? I'm building keepsake boxes for x-mas gifts and so I'm kind of drooling over that cherrywood I guess. ?That Wood Miser what a nice machine; Made in America.
Fill it with epoxy that would make a beautiful table. Glad to see your little helper he makes the video all that much better to watch! Thanks for sharing your videos with us all and God Bless
@Scott Jennings not sure how to respond to your ignorance, with humor or as a critic. how about I ignore you since you show what an ass you are in public. you don't even deserve my attention even to address your stupidity. That is all, you can go keyboard commando out of your mommies basement now. bu bye.
Don’t forget to treat for the ants. If you don’t they will be all over your shed in a matter of weeks. This is a beautiful log and you’re very lucky to be able to make something of it. Best of stay safe.
The stuff I like to use: www.amazon.com/shop/falllineridge

And, what a beautiful little boy. You are blessed!
The log was great, but your son was the best! From another proud father who has 5 wonders of his own. My oldest became 40 and my youngest turned 28 this year. Enjoy every moment, minute, and second, because it all goes by to fast.

Great stuff - milling wood, fighting insects, and family oriented! Keep em coming brother!
The log is beautiful but that baby is absolutely precious.
Interesting outcome. Making a treasure out of trash. Cherry is beautiful.

Been watching Fall Line for a long time, and your videos never fail to educate and entertain, as well as occasionally astonish. Plus, you get my special Kool Beans Award for using the word, "exacerbated" in sentence. Congratulations.

Can't wait to see the finished product and that's a wonderful kid you got there.
I worked on a portable saw mill for a while. It was a great learning experience. It gave me a deeper respect for the various lumbers, and the end product. Beautiful.
So adorable...the little man!!!
i love your enthusiasm and I agree about the beauty of the Cherry log. I want to see the final table.
That’s stunning and little man is growing like a weed... hugs and kisses 😘 from Granny Susan

Nice upload from you & yours Wes! That log has got some fine markings, and as you said, will maybe make a great coffee table, but it's sure going to take a lot of Resin to fill that! Stay safe & well.
It's beautiful . . love the look.

Just my four penneth worth. I enjoy your enthusiasm.
Oh that's a great idea! Thanks.
Also installing some cozy LED-light / micro-spots under the glass,
Nice idea!
Epoxy wouldn't stick without scraping the middle so it would loose the feature. You have a great idea.
Maybe just a light coating of acrylic to help stabilize it
What a gem to find in that cherry log! Your son is going to be learning quite a bit from his old man about harvesting his own lumber and making beautiful furniture! What a wonderful thing to look forward to as he grows! 👍
Thanks, John!

Was I the only one who laughed when he took out the wasps...I hate those things! Lol,,,🤣🤣🤣
that spray works darn good. it even works as mace in a pinch
I grew up with wasps, it's the fire ants that I can't abide.
We’ve all got to live even wasps
I always spray after dark so I get every last one on them!
Killing red wasps = cool!. Cutting cherry = cool! But...what's REALLY cool is seeing the exchange between Dad and son! Keep it up 👍👍🥰
Beautiful log !! Ur son sho is growing up !! :)
And fast!
Beautiful log! I recently milled an old blowen down cedar. Similar heart rot pattern but it was much much worse and was almost out to the bark. Also glad to see you showed no mercy on those wasps.
Very nice, good decision on that second cut
That would make a fine coffee table Thank You from La Pine Oregon
You might want to consider getting out of that drug infested state.
Going to be sharp looking coffee table!
Hay man just a good tip from one sawmiller to another if u paint the ends of the logs it will stop them from cracking and the log can last for 2 to 4 years out in the elements of rain and sun

He’s right.
Nice. It's a keeper. 🌲🇺🇸🌲
God bless ya bud and your family!
I like carb cleaner for wasps. it evaporates and seems clean afterward, and it is very lethal. thanks for the great video!!!
You totally made the right decision taking that last cut off to expose the rot.
Great little guy!!
That was a great shot on the wasps, you got every one I think
That is a beauty. I wonder could you epoxy fill and then cut it into a 3" thick table top, and get some cherry wood boards out of that at the same time? So nice to the family aspect...real joy!
I don't think those were your run-of-the-mill wasps they looked vicious!
Good call to open it up further it looked even better afterwards :)
That will be a wonderful table, - Epoxy ( clear) or the glass option as Ron Jupe noted - and you've got a 1x4 or so out of that last offcut to boot!
That would make a magnificent bar top 🤩👌
oh that's gonna be a beautiful table!
That will make a beautiful table!
Beautiful log! Yes, it's a treasure.
The Imagination can be a wonderful thing.

Don’t forget to treat for the ants. If you don’t they will be all over your shed in a matter of weeks. This is a beautiful log and you’re very lucky to be able to make something of it. Best of stay safe.
Good Stuff!
Epoxy tables are by far the greatest invention for the lumber industry in the past 30 years and thank god you'll never see one in my home. lol.
