Ryan's rendition of Something's Coming is a tour de force. His electric stage presence radiates with a restless energy, mirroring the character's yearning for something beyond. His passionate vocals soar, infusing the song with an infectious anticipation that electrifies. Bravo!!
Ryan doesn’t fit with Spielberg’s view of WSS and especially doesn’t fit with Spielberg’s cast. I feel the darker version of Tony we see in WSS2021 fits better with the casting of Ansel Elgort.
I'm so glad I got to see this production last week! Ryan McCartan earned every bit of that thunderous applause after "Maria" -- what a gorgeous performance!
I love how much energy and emotion Ryan puts into this. If you see his face expressions, it is like he is putting all of his emotion into the music, letting him become Tony
I got to see Ryan as tony and it was incredible I breathed the same air as him I forgot who loud the gunshot though when it went off I jumped and said “Jesus”
Ryan brings a more musical theater aspect to his Tony, than ansels when his was more of a movie aspect, but with Ryan vibrato it make you feel more like your watching a play other than 2021 west side story which I’m not slandering l. Just saying Ryan’s Tony has more musical theater spice to it. 😊
I'm really curious as to why the sound designer decided to go with an on-the-ear mic placement, rather than a hairline position. I've seen and done/placed both, but this clip doesn't fully show what the rest of the costumes look like. Still, sounds great.
For me, a little over the top. But I am so grateful for that. So many are singing this in a way too laid back style, like it's too much trouble to put some suspense into the story of what might happen "tonight."
his singing is so amazing, i don't even dislike the amount of movement but if he would just follow his impulses a bit more...as it is now it's like here are the ten brilliant things i came up with in rehearsal five weeks ago which is fine but if it was in the moment and active with his already shimmering dynamic vocals it would be over the top, thrilling and amazing

Spielberg really blew it. He should have cast Ryan.
