I love the part about methodology! You explained that the spider net is connected to our brain and how we learn. And how to hunt the words that are relevant to us and our lives. I really like how you were able to explain because I have studied a lot, and I believe that the way we learn or the methodology we use can help us accelerate the way we learn English. For instance, what matters to me as a father is to say something to my teenagers, like have you done your homework yet, in Spanish I use to recall them that they must do their assignments, then doing Duolingo I found a fixed expression that was suitable for me as a father. Another thing that I found was: No one is going to have lunch/dinner unless you and your sister set the table! Here I understood why these phrases I remember the others don't. It's because they are connected to my daily routine. Thank you, Teacher! Great job!

GOAT of all the english coaches out there on RUclips! Just so disappointed I missed the live but now I am definitely going to enjoy this new video! When it came or still comes to learn english I have always used a "Jeet kune do" kind of approach; everything is useful and helpful: listening, reading, speaking (even alone in front of a mirror), writing, mocking people while talking on tv shows etc etc, singing out loud, tongue twisters, writing sentences with new vocabulary and get images stamped in my mind (even if apparently they make no sense)...sometimes while speaking it is easier for me to get the right word/vocabulary in english rather than in my native language just becuase I have it memorized with a clearer image! Keep up the great job 4ever! Greetings from Italy!!

Se que tú hablas español, y es por eso que me gusta ver tus videos, porque entiendes los problemas por los que atravesamos las personas que intentamos aprender otro idioma y que no se reduce solo a la gramática o la pronunciación correcta, sino a la vez, aprender sobre la cultura y costumbres del pais o el lugar que habla el idioma que se quiere aprender, porque de esa manera podrás entender ciertas cosas que no aprendes en una escuela, como las frases que solo los nativos entienden.

I think I was in a false class, but I understood something. For example, the that it is necessary to learn pronunciation. I write often vocabulary in an editor and I write the pronunciation of how I listen, with my German- alphabet in brackets. And I also take the
signs" : , ' " to stress the characters. For instance: Ablenkung--> distraction (dis'trak chen)
Unfortunately, I never can speak to someone but I write sometimes with my children in English because they learned it in school.
P.S. Even though I have a low level, it was fun to listen to your lecture.
I think You are a fantastic teacher and I wish you all the best for your future.

Learning vocab is a moving target: language change, new words, slang, loanwords, nonce words, the younger generation always speaks differently than the older generation... Some studies suggest that the average native English speaker use actively 20 000 words, and know around 40 000 words :)

True, you need to work on your vocab while you can. The opportunity might present itself when you least expect it, and you won't have enough time to fill the gaps. I've just found a job as an English teacher (I'm not a native speaker as you may have guessed) only to find out that they have no supervisors or mentors for new teachers, so I didn't even know what I'd be teaching to my students. My first day at work, I had several groups ranging from B1 to C1, including a group specializing in special translation, and I had to teach them in English without any preparation all day long. Luckily, I even managed to translate an article on thermodynamics off the top of my head, but this was a challenging experience. Anyway, whatever gaps you've got, you may not have the time to fill them when your boss or someone else puts you on the spot to either fail or perform. Life's not perfect, so the perfect scenario is usually the first that goes out the window.

Hi i think that most of second language learner have the problem of vocabulary. And i think that the most effective way to improve it is to travel where the language is spoken and use it with native speaker that you can speak in diffrent situation.that is how you can improve your vocabulary. Because even you learnt english in school or university you are still lacking of a lot of vocabulary. That is why traveling to the country where the language is spoken is the best way and effective way according to my opinion .what do you think ?
